I think, seeing the units you have selected, that Pactbound Zealots Detachment would be better for you. You could use the appropriate Strats to protect Havocs or to advance and charge with the Possessed. An Hellbrute could also be useful...

Since they have blurred the lines between detachments and legions, I really think you should embrace that your particular alpha legion engages differently to the norm. Whether you choose the Focussed Hatred of the Veterans of the Long War; the rapid aggression of the Renegade Raiders; or the fananatic fervor of the Pactbound Zealots, its your narrative to forge :)
Oh thay look brilliant, what a beautiful paint job, im really looking forward to seeing them in action. You have got to do a rescue mission to see how many guardsmen you can capture or james can save I think that would be a fun side mission to get them injured guards men in maybe have them do some random actions as some extra fun. Can't wait to see what this army can do 😊
If you're running Alpha Legion you do really need to use infiltrating Legionaries and cultists otherwise you're just playing Vanilla CSM with no detachment. You could always say they're emulating another detachment for lore/fluff and gameplay things tbh, so they get detachment rules that apply
