I don't care about the kids edition, but learning about the other two was cool. I bought the 8 and might buy one for my mom. If you use it for simple things like she would (like to help to go to sleep) these are good tablets

It wouldn't be much of a comparison to be completely honest. The screen is slightly better on the 2017 fire tablet, battery should last just a little longer, and you get Amazon Alexa. Its a very very small upgrade in my opinion

I highly doubt the screen is actually that different compared to the 2015 one considering they have the same ppi and resolution.

Not a huge difference, but the viewing angles are much better because they upgraded to IPS.

I'ma trade in my 7 for the 10!

I have the fire 7 tablet from last year, its ok but the screen is kind of blurry. It pretty much does anything I need a tablet to do and its light enough to just throw in a bag and not worry about since its cheep, but the screen is all that bothers me. I was thinking about buying the iPad 2017 9.7 but I'm not sure if I really wanna spend 300 bucks to do all the same things just on a bigger screen that's clearer. Then the iPad can't take micro sd cards so that's an advantage for the fire. Im assuming the iPad is gonna give a premium experience with a much better viewing since it won't be blurry but I'm not really sure if I want to shell out the 300 bucks or just live w the fire 7 and call it a day. Plus I'm cheap so theres that.. I'm really unsure about what to do.You know everyone has a phone already so u don't really NEED a tablet so I'm not sure if the 300 would be worth it or if I should stick w the fire 7 I already have but of course if u buy the iPad u get a better viewing experience (even though heavier) and it will probably last you years.

A screen with an identical ppi and resolution as the previous model is going to look exactly the same, which is the whole point of specs. They will always tell you it's improved to try and sell it to you. Hopefully she enjoys the gift though and at that price it's basically free.

What changed are CPU and OS - CPU is quad-core and the OS is FireOS 6 (fork of Android N 7.1.2). Both changes are across the entire Fire product line. I have the same tablet (Fire 7) and it does a beatdown on the Lenovo Tab2 A7-30F it replaced. There are times when the CPU and OS - not necessarily the PPI - matter. FireOS 6 is the same across all the devices it shows up in all the Fire tablets, and this entire generation of FireTV devices) even the non-HD tablets (such as this one) and the non-4K TV sticks (we have three of those as well). Where the Fire7 really brings the heat is (surprisingly) Web browsing. Yes - the Silk browser is, in fact, carryover from FireOS 5; which means that it's the CPU and OS changes, as neither of THOSE are carryover.

I had the HD 7 and the audio is horrible because the speaker is on the back

You're just reading the specs, only interrupted with some really basic comments and junk. Tell us what the screen feels like, touch function, brightness control, compare the sound quality etc. Do some work rather than just film a tablet and read through specs. Boring

Not compared to the Fire 7 on sale - at a mere $49. clarissa whosoever - Google for it; it works for any Fire tablet of the current or previous generation (it should also work for ANY device running FireOS - which means you can do it with the 4K devices and TV sticks of ther current generation as well - they run the same OS)
