New Airfix
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Building Airfix's new 1/24 scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IXc! Previously I have built the cockpit, the ammunition bays, and the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. In this video I bring everything together ready for painting: the wings, the fuselage, the engine, the flaps, the ailerons, and the landing gear.

*I enjoy your video? Yes sir, it's a marvelous kit and all your tips are welcome! I don't know if i'll build this Airfix Spitfire one day but it's very interesting to follow!*

Thanks. Yes, it's a good kit but not to everyone's preference. Not a very common scale either
Nice video. Speedy healing so you can get back to painting.

Excellent videos, watching them all as about to buy this kit. Going to build the cockpit and engine as separate 'open' models and have the plane all closed up apart from gun and wheel bays and have the canopy 'misted over' so can't see in to the empty cockpit. I must say however I'm amazed by the amount of brilliant modellers that use that horrible type of filler as opposed to milliput. If you use milliput you can smooth it out such that no cutting or sanding is required. Filling those ejection marks could be done in minutes with no sanding etc required, you really must try it. Cheers.

I really like that idea for the Spitfire. Another option could be a tarp or similar over the canopy. I have tried milliput in the past but I just didn't get along with it unfortunately. User error, I'm sure! :)
Greetings Nerd, the Spitfire is looking great, you have done a excellent job thus far, I hope the rest of the build/paint job goes well, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.

Red tip ammunition is tracer ammunition. (you can see it when its been fired) Tracer is usually something like 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 meaning every 5th (or 10th) bullet will be tracer (red tip)

Excellent video with lots of details as to be expected, MN.....you have set the bar high! It's all looking great and the details that Airfix have included really are a stand-out. Hope your face is close to being healed so that you can start tackling that camo scheme. It's going to be a busy few weeks of painting once you're ok to wear that mask given the unpainted kits you have lined up.

Red tip ammo is for tracer ammunition. I'm sure they only used about 1 tracer between 7 rounds or so but this might be for infantry using heavy machine guns.

Red Tipped ammo is nothing like the way you have painted them !

Hehe, excellent. Oh, I had surgery to remove some BCC from my face. All gone now but the skin graft is still a bit delicate. Will probably try the respirator next week :)

@@ModelNerd We used them 5:1 and then used the tracer to guide the firepower onto the target (in the air defence role). Maybe that was a thing with Spitfires? Fantastic model, by the way, I am in awe.

@@ModelNerd I have read that the ammo belts could be loaded to suit the target they were after. I have also read that for the 8 .303 guns they did load a couple with tracer maybe two with AP rounds thd the remaining four with ball, so it is possible to have a belt of tracer only. This off course is true if the book I read was correct.

But why do all that work only for it to be sealed and closed forever 😕 😮 huh?

It's all still visible - the cockpit has the canopy open and the engine and wings have the covers removed
Hello MN, after the wait, I'm sure the airbrushing will go like wildfire for you. Best of luck. It's very nice to see a classic plane treated with such care at this scale. Very nice work. I'll see you soon.
