You can tell what a company thinks of their World Champion by their placement on the card. This match was in the middle of the show. It wasn't on first and it wasn't on last instead its in the middle of the fucking show. Also when has any promotion cut to a backstage segment during any of their Champions matches epecially when its to further a storyline that does not even involve the Champion.....

Poor Swerve as Champion feels like an afterthought. Even on the PPV he won the focus was on Ospreys match. Then the Dynamtie after the focus is on the Bucks etc.

Weird that he didn’t talk about his win? Should have at least opened the show with Swerve

How the hell is your world champ not opening the show, addressing the crowd and getting a set up for his next big feud. Wrestling 101. I don't get Tony's obession with having his new champion fight a mid-carder on Dynamite in a match right after winning the title. He did the same with Joe vs Hook.

Swerve Strickland becoming AEW world champion was one of the best pro wrestling moments and a historical one to boot.... But it's going to be fun to see him elevate every match he has as champion and tonight he and Kyle Fletcher put on a great bout and blended their styles together well 🔥 😎.

@@nworder4life that's not "historical". "Memorial", yes. Historical would be if he were to have been the first black World champ EVER...in any prominent wrestling promotion. But Strickland is nearly 32 years late for being able to be called that. Ron Simmons holds that distinction.

Keep up the great work AEW, love the new writing style and pace! Even the Commentary is better great play by play Commentary.

Super fun stuff here, however I’d love about 15 more minutes. Fletcher is well on his way and Swerve’s reign started properly.

Swerve deserves more. It took 1 show and Tony Khan is already booking him as a midcarder while the Young Bucks took up time during the match. The first show with the World Title should be more important.

Joe felt like a serious world champion because he came out the next night and cut a promo that made him feel like a real champion, and immediately got himself into another storyline.

Swerve didn’t get a celebration or anything but he had a random match which that is ridiculous

Unfortunately even now he seems to be secondary which is sad. No promo and just a random match that they cut away from the promote the Jack Perry storyline. Even the PPV he won at all the focus was on Danielson match. Should of had a promo at the start and set up a match for later in the show.

Good match..i just wish that they had built the story of the match to have Swerve dominant and then he took a risk with the stomp on the apron, got hurt and THEN thats when fletcher was able to get in his offense. You just beat Samoa Joe, fletcher shouldn't be keeping up with you unless its cause of a handicap. Especially since he is a member of Don callis heel group. You could have done it that way and STILL have everyone come out looking good.
