New 80 Series Landcruiser Project! “Triple Locked”

I bought a 1997 Toyota Landcruiser with Factory Locking Differentials. It will be part of a series on this channel as I do repairs, maintenance & upgrades to get it road worthy for camping and wheeling!
This truck was purchased from Overland Experts (OEX) Website linked below!

    Excellent ride. It’s better that it’s not pristine, as you will probably want to have “fun” with it. 😁

    Welcome to the 80 Club John. Best Goddamn 4 wheel drive ever built. I have a 1HD-T 5spd manual converted to part time with centre diff lock switch & free wheel locking hubs Upgrade the hub & wheel studs, just make sure you carry spares. Also swivel hub seals

    That radiator is about to blow! Check the heater valve at the firewall too. That color signifies that it's ready to blow up.

    Nice pick up! I love my 80 series. Seems like you have a good game plan for it maintenance wise. Knock out the front seals, check/grease the knuckles if they're not leaking, (rebuilding them is straight forward just time consuming), look into the pesky heater hose "PHH".

  • @Adv4x4

    @Adv4x4

    Yeah man! Thankfully the front knuckles are full of grease and not diff fluid I checked the other day so they really must have been serviced recently. Haha. Thanks man! Yeah I was hoping wits end would have that rear heater bypass in stock soon as well. Like all the rest of them those metal lines going to the rear are looking crusty as well haha.

    @@Adv4x4 we doing great and I hope to pick up my gas to finally start welding up my camper based off your plans. I also have been collecting stuff for a diesel heater project and watched your vid too. Not much need here in FL but I hope to do some camping in the north and I wish I had it at the expo last year lol. Be well John! Hopefully we’ll connect again soon.

    I picked up a 94 a month or so ago. Came on 35s and a 4" lift but the previous owner just put springs and shocks and called it a day. So ive either got to do all extras, or pull the lift and go down to 2". Ive been thinking a lot about just going down to 2".

    I have driven quite a few vehicles with them and although they are great offroad their on road characteristics such as wet pavement or snow seem to lack in my experience with them! Just what I’ve personally seen I know a lot of people that love them they just don’t work for me is all!

    @@Adv4x4, WOW! I'm shocked you've had trouble in the snow with them. For me KO2s, and now Wildpeak AT3Ws are the only snow tires I use, and I've used KO2s in MI, WY, ID & MT winters for over 30 years. This winter is my first with the AT3Ws and they're fantastic.

    in another video you had a harbor freight apex winch, do you have an install video?

  • @Adv4x4

    @Adv4x4

    3 ай бұрын

    I do not unfortunately. For the winch to fit I did have to do spacers between the winch mounting points and bumper holes to get the sides of the winch to clear the bumper. I believe close to .5” or so. The control box also can stay on the winch you just have to remove one 10mm head bolt that holds part of the grill surround so it can be slightly pushed up. You will see what I’m talking about when you get there!
