I own a ‘23 Trident 660 and a ‘15 Daytona 675. When I heard that Triumph had been testing another sportbike platform I was very excited. While I think this new Daytona looks great, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the less powerful engine. While this looks like a great bike on its own I don’t think it compares to the previous Daytona models, and I’m not too sure it deserves the Daytona name.

interesting persepectives. I'm on a ninja400 and I'm quite disappointed in the lack of options to bridge the gap between the endless sea of naked bike hype and unforgiving ergos and streetability of proper supersports. Bikes like the FZ1 are great for crusing, have so much power but are heavy, a bit too upright, and lack the handling I want for doing some canyons. The other FZs (6, 8, 9) all have their compromises too (i'd get the FZ8 Fazer if it was actually sold in the USA instead of just the naked version). The rest in the category are too naked and get very old and annoying on the highway. I think this bike has the potential to be great and I'm looking at this along with the street triple

675R owner here. Disappointed too but I think we need to remember these bikes aren't for us and only the moniker is the same. Built to a much lower budget with budget parts, lower power, diluted dynamics and A2 friendly. These are beginner bikes not supersports. We just need to hope they make a proper sports bike off the back of this.

@@kw4n1987 I can appreciate that idea and to can understand the logic behind it. I absolutely loved the trident and tiger sport 660 and its absolutely a solid idea to build a middlewieght sport bike off that platform. I guess I have been hoping for a full line of Daytona bikes using the 660, 765, 900 and the 1160cc triples. Just a dream lol.

Agreed. The Daytona name shouldnt be on a budget friendly intermediate/beginner bike. They should have taken the 765 street triple as a platform, faired it, clip ons, tune and adjust/change brakes and suspension to a premium grade. The Daytona is supposed to be a middle weight supersport race bike for the road.

Yup, I was hoping that they wouldn't call it a Daytona, too. (I also own a D675.) But I also understand why they did it. One could reason that Triumph is perfectly set up to do just what you've suggested but, I also think it's a pipe dream. Let's face it, they didn't sell enough Daytona 675s after about 2011 along with the rest of the manufacturers making supersport bikes. I shake my head when I see hundreds of comments screaming for a Daytona 765. Only a handful of those people will actually buy one.

It's good to see a Daytona back in the Triumph range. I'm pleasantly surprised because it's felt like the market has moved more towards retro/classic and adventure bikes. I hope it does well. I like sports bikes but have tended to buy models with sports/tourer specs than super sports because I find them more practical for regular use and also good for a long journey or holiday yet with enough sportiness for fun. The earlier Hinckley Daytonas, 900, 955 etc. prior to the 675, were less sports inclined than the R1s, GSXRs and ZZRs of the same period.

The one on the Trident/Tiger Sport 660/D660 is an LCD/TFT hybrid but it works well. Agree on the quick shifter and I wish the suspension was more adjustable. But Triumph sets up even the non-adjustable stuff well as long as you're not really heavy or really light. Should be a fun bike.

Okay, I know a few others have already mentioned this but I'll add to the chorus. For those who are pining for true supersport-spec Daytona 765, there already is one. It's called the Street Triple 765 RS (and the limited edition Moto2). It's also raced in MotoAmerica, BSB, and WSB. I know some people haven't been around as long as some of us but the Street Triple originally was just a stripped down, re-tuned Daytona 675. When Triumph cancelled the D675, they essentially put all the high-spec development into the Street Triple, particularly the RS variant. I have a first gen D675 and a '22 STRS and the main frame is nearly identical. And essentially, they are very similar bikes. Of course, the RS is more modern and has more advanced components but they are clearly of the exact same lineage. The reason there is no longer a supersport Daytona is because ALMOST NO ONE WAS BUYING THEM. Same with almost every other supersport bike. If you want Triumph to build one, there has to be a market for one. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of those asking for one will actually buy one.

Maybe 'silk white' and consider it a fresh canvas for some bright, splashy primary colors. I think they're going to sell quite well, heck- I can't think of anyone who wouldn't love riding it.

I’ve had the tiger sport for 2 years now , great bike , but that tft screen you can’t see a thing in bright sunlight ( sorry Bob you can’t) please manufacturers remedy this anti glare would be perfect or some sort of cowl . Ps I like the look of the Daytona especially in that red , my favourite colour of all time 😊👍👍

I have a question, appreciating the burgeoning Market Hinckley are going for but where does a budding D660 pilot upgrade to when they feel the appetite to upsize. The floor at the neighboring Competitors Shop🔎?? Hint, an 1160 Daytona please!! 😁

With the power band and less aggressive seating it should make for a good sport bike for the everyday street use customer.

More beautiful than I thought it would be, to be honest. I am just not that crazy on that 660 engine. Feels more like a well-tuned 4-cylinder to me. You can feel the low-mid range superiority of the 765 engine, just by opening the throttle from being stopped. I would still love to see a half-fairing, sport but all-arounder 765 bike. Like a new Sprint RS 765. Capable of everyday commuting, small trips with 2 persons, and of some serious playing in the twisties.

I just wish both headlights had high beams and low beams in each housing, since some newer sport styled bikes have that feature

Rode 2007 Triumph Daytona 675. There were far better bikes from Japanese Big 4...but what it set apart from them, and what made it better was the SOUND! Metal griding, high pitched, thumping and roaring sound. Gone is this once-an-awesome sound of triple from Triumph...

I love it, it`s what people have been crying out for for years, a mid sized no frills sporty middleweight, which is more road friendly than a full on supersport bike. I wonder whether they have any idea`s about making a 900 version based on the 900 Tiger engine?.

This bike is going to be a real hit in the sector. Triumph have done an incredible job. As for the ´Daytona´ tag goes, if it had the 81hp powerplant the answer would be NO, this 95hp engine sneaks in there with a great torque curve. I think it´s worthy of it.

Damn I was so excited when I saw a 2024 daytona only to find out its a been neutered.. I own a 2020 Street Triple 765R, if I was gonna trade for anything it'd probably be an Aprillia tuono 1100 v4. Too bad I was hoping we were getting a full sport triumph.

Riding well be the proof, but this may be a brilliant move for Triumph! The last 675 Daytona was a wonderful expensive bike that didn't sell well. However, a 10k sport bike may sell in the numbers they need. In the past, Triumph has gotten a lot out of modest components with careful tuning and development. If that's the case here, it may be what the market needs. The first Daytona was a 500cc twin that was overshadowed by the 650 twin - but the 500 won the race the bike was named after

I don't think I would want to take phone calls while using a device like Cardo while riding. Motorcycling is already dangerous enough without the distraction of a phone call. I personally put my phone in my BMW's pannier so there are no distractions.
