Nice comprehensive review. I chose Lyriq over the Y for most of the reasons you've enumerated. Plus since GM (and others) are now adopting the Tesla NACS standard and will have access to the Tesla charging infrastructure as of 2024, there really is no downside to the Lyriq (with an adapter, of course)

The question lies if the lyriq would have a smart preconditioning system like Tesla, where it will get fast charging even in -30°C weather. The only thing we can do now is wait and see. but, from experience, the non-Tesla chargers are not nearly as good as Tesla, or sometimes not even working in very cold weather

@@teslapeg There will always be an angle that will be important to one buyer but less so for another. My brother has a Y and he likes it.

Great review...wondering now that GM has agreed to the adopt the NACS charging format, and Tesla has agreed to charger sharing with GM... has your bottom line recommendation changed?

Not yet. NACS are still waiting to be adopted and these non-Teslas are still new to the market and as we have seen on the -30C week we had, most non-Teslas were stranded while there was one Tesla to be seen stranded. Would still recommend a Model Y. Other brands have a lot of catching up to do

Model Y Windshield wiper issues - will have to keep it on manual no USS sensors, Tesla Vision is horrible No automatic door handles no home link button for your garage no apple car play suspension is harsh No perforated seats for cooling No front camera A no brainer, I’m getting the Lyriq

To each to their own. GM still has a lot of catching up to do in cold weather. So many stranded Lyriqs in -30C weather

I knew it…your video had an “Alberta” feel. Can you drive the Lyriq like you do a traditional gas car? One pedal driving is a bit weird for me. Have a great day!

At 4:20 in the video, the floormats show that it's a vehicle from McNaught - a Winnipeg GM dealership. I suspect that the post creator's name is a combination of Tesla and Winnipeg. Plus, the video mentions Winnipeg at the very end.

the grills behind the display are for cooling the OLED components

Too bad that display is dim!

Just looked at this car in the same color. Charging door was frozen shut! The display is way too dim, even when cranked all the way up. I actually thought something was wrong with it. Looked at another on the lot the display was still dim. I’m talking in normal daylight. The setting were on daylight. We tried auto, no difference. Then I found out others that have looked at the Lyriq were also complaining about the dim display.

why do the cameras do not turn on when you put your signal lights?

It seems the Lyriq is not equipped with that features unlike Tesla where the camera comes up and you can easily check your blind spots without doing a full on shoulder check

The Lyriq is sexier the model Y is more advanced.

Test drove one, it drove like a marshmallow. Charges like crap. No thank you.

This is not a tesla killer by far home boy just like the Chevy blazer EV it's a big piece of junk problem after problem. Of course you can't see that you have your blinders on in your hand out from GM to give them a good review.
