The best review of this racquet ive seen so far. I demoed it and i fully agree it is great. Im 6'3" with one handed backhand.

The old vs works wonderfully for me with a soft string

@Tennis Spin - Please do more due diligence on the gear you're reviewing. The PA98 **has changed** noticeably from the PAVS, both in the layup (with NF2Tech flax inserts at 9 and 3) and in several strung specs. Per TWU's Racquet Comparison tool: - Strung Swing Weight -- PAVS: 321 - PA98: 327 - Strung Twist Weight -- PAVS: 14.6 | PA98: 15.4 - RDC Flex -- PAVS: 67 RA - PA98: 65 RA - Vibration (Hz) -- PAVS: 154 - PA98: 148 - Power Potential -- PAVS: 41% - PA98: 42% - Sweet Spot Size -- PAVS: 16" | PA98: 17" So the PA98 in stock form is more stable, more powerful, has more plow-through, is more comfortable and has a larger sweet spot. Those are fairly significant when added up together.

I think the spec comparison you posted on quite matching how I felt after demo the new PA98 for a week. I also had the old PAVS, the only complaint I had with the old one was the stiffness of the racket, it could be harsh on my arms sometimes. The new one totally get rid of the harsh feel I had from the last old PAVS. More spin and power, too. I think the only thing it sacrifices is a slight control comparing to the old! I ordered two new aero 98 already!

Must be very cold in your shop…. 😂😂

Curious how you think it compares to the latest Pure Drive? I like it a lot but need a 2nd racquet so debating another Pure Drive or giving the Aero a hot

Wilson Revolve 17 gauge. Very low string friction (one of the lowest in Tennis Warehouse testing), so it has great snap-back and spin. Better than average durability, better than average tension maintenance, much softer than most other polyester strings, and cheap. Those are the pros. The cons are that it's less powerful and less controlled than stiffer polys, but for a kid with a 26" racket, those cons are probably not a big deal to you. If your kid breaks the 17 quickly (which I doubt), use the 16, which is virtually identical, just a little bit stiffer. It's a great string for taming a stiff and over-powered frame, such as oversized racket--that's why it's popular for club doubles players. My recommendation is to use the plain round version, not the shaped Spin or Twist version. The basic round version is plenty spinny and is more predictable and lasts longer.

Is it just me or does the head shape look different? 98 looks more circular, VS looks more oval

My tennis shop says they will have stock at the end of the month so I would assume end of month. On line it says the jan 19th.

Stock specs essentially. Something like (unstrung) 305g, 31.6/7cm, and a 295 swing weight. So that's 32.6 or so cm strung with what, like a 325 ish swing weight? Remember, these specs aren't equal across all rackets. Refer to TWU data for instance. The Pure Aero 98 literally punches above its weight.
