I see it the way I see Rolex watches. My Casio Wave Ceptor (listens to the Rugby time signal) is always spot on. It's work man like and does the job of telling the time, without fiddling about just fine. It's as accurate as any Rolex. I guess it could be thought of as a mid range 650 cc twin bike. Say MT-07. The Norton is like a Rolex, or maybe a Rolls Royce. It's all about blinginess, rarity, and the owner having the money to afford one. For those collectors who have the cash , I guess they'll sell to them, and the bike will probably hardly be ridden, and just on display in a collection. Which is a shame. For the riders who do want to go track day riding, or think they might be the next Peter Hickman, well it will be the BMW M1000RR, ZX10 , Ducati Panigale, Fireblade or R1 that they'll be buying. If I won £100 million on the lottery, yeah I'd get my big house with massive garage, and there'd be a Norton V4SV sitting in there. Back in the real world , I'll just dribble over youtube videos. Rolex's don't do it for me , but blingy Nortons do !

As a Norton limited edition owner, unfortunately they really have pitched this bike in the wrong price bracket. As this was the first bike from the new owners based on the revamped V4 SS/RR from the previous era, sorry Norton this is a mistake.

This will be limited numbers sale. It’s more on point to “re-establish” Norton as a Premium brand, to put some separation between RE, BSA, and the likes.

@@TheGreatestBeyonder Premium brand does not mean £44,000 price tag. I have a BMW S1000RR with BMW installed, suggested and approved high level upgrades to make it extremely track focused, but road legal. With all due respect this would out gun this Norton easily for half the price. They should have focused on the Commando first and then investigated the V4 viability since they have the blueprints (however dubious) from the previous era.

@@TheGreatestBeyonder You have a good point, Norton is already a marque brand with a great heritage, the Commando is revered by many enthusiasts. I chose a Dominator SS based on the platform brand and exclusivity but originally ordered a Commando. I understand the V4 SV derived from the TT inspired V4 SS & RR from the Garner era, but this could have waited until the heritage models were re-established. It will be interesting how sales go to see how it has been received by the die hards. My original Norton dealer from the Garner era being a multi premium brand stockist thinks the same, let’s see what happens

IMHO, for those that can/will buy a 35K+ motorcycle, the higher price point won't make them flinch one bit I suspect. It'll all be about the name, where it's built, and the style. It'll sit in the garage, with their Porsche GT3, Ferrari, Mclaren, whathaveyou, and get fired up whenever the weather is nice and curvy roads are clear...and I bet will catch more attention at their local hangout than the other more expected bikes that show up. It's not my cup of tea, but I can see the clientele that would buy it. I think it's pretty cool.

Norton seem to be pitching bikes on the assumption their reputation will carry things through. Maybe I'll be proven wrong on this but IMO it's been at least a generation since the Norton name truly meant something. The new owners should have started from scratch and entered into the market at a competitive price point with a competitive bike. What's the point in making something that costs 2x as much as the equivalent Ducati with worse performance? The argument "it's a Norton" doesn't hold up because the brand has changed hands multiple times now, the bike needs to stand up on its own merits.

Unfortunately horse power seems to be the replacement for desirability. Most people that buy the Panigale and the 1000RR are incapable of riding them anyway.

125 nm, or 92 ft lbs, of torque may be the highest of the three compared in the video, but to my mind it still doesn’t justify the eye-popping price. My R1250R has 142 nm, or 105 ft lbs, of torque, so if torque is the barometer, there are still a good number of better options out there. Yes, I do get that comparing a boxer twin to a V4 is an apples to oranges comparison, but I just don’t see anything about this bike that in any way justifies that price, other than name and heritage/prestige, and if so, I do get there will be customers for that…hell, Harley-Davidson built a company on that same principle.

You pay for exclusivity. If you have to worry about the price, you weren't going to buy it anyway. Is a Bentley blah...new...blah model worth hundreds of thousands? Doesn't matter, if someone has the cash and buys it.

TVS paid way too much to buy what was left of the Norton name. Just don't see a market for this overpriced and already out dated bike.

It's a shame that these UK bred motorcycles companies all get sold off to those dog fuckers. Nothing good can come of that!

What a joke, they could have used all of the deposits they received from people who will never receive their bikes, or all of the money that the staff invested into this toxic crap brand when Stuart Garner tried to sell everyone a bag of magic beans. Wouldn't have any of their bikes given to me. Viva Ducati.

This is a cash grab for old rich men to show off...... that alone makes it a douchey choice.... wanna make it cool ? Lotto at a cheap price and given to select and up and coming racers.
