    As I get older I'm finding I want less tech, a return to more simple machines, not basic or 'cheap' just more realistic.. It all costs money.

    I do not like the look of Triumph motorcycles. I have test ridden them. It's just that I prefer the look of Japanese motorcycles. Yamaha hit a homerun with the MT-07 so it's not a surprise how popular a motorcycle it is. It's far from perfect but this also means it's not very expensive. The bottom line is the MT-07 is fun to ride.

    My guess is that if you were buying one or the other by how steady and stable it feels in the middle of a nice set of S curves that one would be happier with the Trident and it's frame .I love the fueling on my 900 SS twin 's motor . NOt much up high but even pulling every time like your ST ... I hope you get a chance to give the new Guzzi Stone 7 ( 850 ) a go .I whole other kettle of fish :)

    Nice video... Let just say that in some areas the price of the latest version is few hundred more than the older version.. is it worth it to spend the extra dollar?

    I'm picking that the model you are riding is a tuned down version as all the full "HO" versions say it just wants to lift the front wheel and that just didn't seem to be happening or even commented on in this video.

    I'm looking for a not too fast sportsbike, and the R7 is there on the options list next to the cbr650r and the (to be) zx4r. I just don't know if the engine is the right one for the bike. But I at the same time really love how my cb500f rides, only wished it had a 270°crank. Would probably even swap it for a new cbr if they offered it with that engine.

    I think I'd prefer riding the MT but definitely prefer the looks of the trident. I'd be more interested in the XSR, but that yamaha engine is such an eyesore! I'm sure they would have sold more if they'd just taken a bit more pride in its cosmetics!

    Hi Bob, I've read quite a few times on the internet that the trident is a different bike after it break in period and that the throttle response is completely different etc, and possibly after the first service or gets a remap. Can you tell me if this is the case. Thanks Bob 👍

  • @Daniel-dj7fh

    @Daniel-dj7fh

    It probably doesn't get a remap. Maybe it's just the people riding it openly since you shouldn't rev too high when breaking the bike in.

    When I spent a couple of days on the MT, I found the snatchy throttle a pain to get on with round town. Fun in the Sussex back roads, but keeping it smooth when urban riding was a chore. I’m short with stubby fingers though - an adjustable clutch lever would have helped (I’ve got the street triple R adjustable lever on my Trident - but even without I think the MT loses out for it’s lack of about town manners).

    Same I’m going back and forth! The thing for me is that I feel more emotionally connected to the MT-07 and the sound with an exhaust and tune. I think the Trident is sexier and smoother and overall a ‘better’ bike, but I’m more attracted to the MT-07 and that means I should probably just go for it.
