Comparing 2021 Tesla Model 3 vs 2019 in 0-62mph runs.
We’re back with another video. This time we wanted to put to the test if there was REALLY any speed difference between the 2019 and 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance. And the results proved to be very interesting!

I think this is a fair test. However, like with all of these type of test, batteries wear some. So that 19M3P battery is not in the same state as the 21M3P. I know the new one is slightly faster, but the new one also has about 6kw more of useable energy. I think, which is almost impossible to test, is, you would need a 19M3P that’s almost new to really really compare. This is also known with MSP that over time and wear, they’re not as fast as they were when new. I love the channel! Great content. But from someone who has been racing a lot (drag racing in America) this is probably best you will get. Maybe find a 2020 M3P with hardly any miles, or miles closer to yours and retest. Again, great channel subscribed for sure!

I've had my 2021 M3P since 24 December and like you say, plenty fast enough. Great times considering the outside temps and interesting results, probably going some way in explaining how some 21 models are dipping under 11.5 for the 1/4 mile now? I just need to find a suitable runway to try it on 😁 Great content, thank you and even better knowing you're just down the road from me in Bournemouth👍🏻

Really good data, thank you. The only thing I can think that might make a difference would be if you had the heating on in both cars. The old car would be drawing more current for the resistive heating than the new one for the heat pump. That might be enough to account for the delta. It might also explain the difference in the remaining SOC at the end of the test.

Had it the same in both cars. One thing I have noticed since is doing the same thing when it’s wet... it’s all down to tyre grip then... and the Pirelli’s don’t work so well!

@@RSEV Thx - same setting (i.e. temperature) would give different current draw as the 2019 car has a resistive heater and the new car has a heat pump drawing only about 1/3 of the current. I speculate it's ~4.5kw different, which would be enough to affect acceleration. Agree that a wet test would be interesting and I'm gutted they've moved from the P4S as the ones on my car are excellent and much better than the Pirelli alternative.

What’s that sound at 1:35 and 1:51 just upon acceleration in the 2019? 🤔 I have a Dual motor LR and I think I have the same noise...

Great Video. Thank you. Great afford to get equal conditions for both cars. For me the time to 124 mph would be interesting- I heard, that the new one loses a whole second - after the great times to 60, I can not believe this. Perhaps you'll find the time to check this, too. Kind regards.

The issue with the high voltage limit of 280v/295v has been solved with update 2021.4.11! It's now 280v/270v/260v. You should do a re-test! 🤘 The car is much faster now below 40% SoC!

My car has the black... 💁‍♂️ but I have child and a dog. White always cleans up fine and lasts well too so I really don’t mind. Main thing with the black is a hate the wood trim. But you’ll note I’ve changed that for alcantara (which we supply and fit). Much better don’t you think?
