Neversoft's Spider-Man (2000) PS1 Retrospective Review: An INSTANT CLASSIC
Ойындар
Neversoft's Spider-Man 2000 game for PS1 is regarded by many as classic, titular game in Spider-Man's gaming history. In this video, I fully examine all the incredible details that have earned it that reputation, as well as its plethora of hidden secrets, easter eggs, and references. I also had the opportunity to interview the Lead Designer on the game, Chad Findley, who revealed many exciting behind the scenes details about the game.

I think it's actually because a lot of the drive to make art in mainstream culture has slowly become corroded into more of a drive to make propaganda (the difference being that in propaganda, the "message" is what the media is built around with no soul to it, while in art, the art itself comes first and any message is a posthumous byproduct that largely depends on individual interpretation). This was done through a complex web of social engineering (basically psychological warfare only known to the privy relative few) and cronyism, but the details are best left to voices such as that of James Corbett (whose site I'm not allowed to link, or sometimes even mention, here).

This is so nostalgic! Spider-Man PS1 is one of the first games I ever played, along with Gauntlet Legends and Tekken 3, and it was a huge formative part of my childhood. I think it's the main reason I love the webhead to this day.
This game is probably is best encapsulation of all good parts of Spider-man in the 90s with no Clone Saga holding it down. I do think limit on web fluid is something that Spider-man can come back too in some limited and maybe harder titles, some of the coolest moves like Punching Gloves and Web Barrier deserve to be recreated in more media. This is an awesome video. The voices from Spidey, Doc Ock, Venom and Carnage were perfect. Sure it references the 90s cartoon but it gets SO much of the comic book DNA in there. It definitely is also a horror vibe, as a kid it really got me at points lol
Certain images and sounds in this game will always take me back to being a kid watching my slightly older friend play through it over and over and going through all the unlockable content.
I played this game so many times when I was a kid. I can't believe I missed What If mode. I had no idea there were a lot more Easter eggs in this game than I originally thought.
I'm already at full health
The greatest to this day. Rino Romano is the only voice I hear when I read the main continuity comics etc. he nailed that tone of the comics of its time right off the rip. The cast of characters (with the voice actors from the 90s cartoon and Spider-Man unlimited), the love of the mythos and tommy talarico’s suicide is iconic. I was reading comics as a kid, and wizard magazines thanks to my mom and dad, but when this game came out along with marvel vs capcom, it was and still is everything. I still own my original copy of the game, the booklet , and the sequel game , enter electro along with marvel vs capcom 2. Gems of comic book /super hero games, and games in general. The level of Easter eggs in this game walked so that the arkham games could fly. Also, as a fan of Keanu Reeves, its fun seeing the references to Speed and The Matrix.

Thank you! I’m excited to have it out! I’m looking forward to symbiote saga too, although I have a couple other videos planned ahead of it
Thank you so much!!! I love this video! And all the videos you make. This game was my childhood 😁😊! I appreciate all your work! And especially getting the developer interview
I loved the ultimate spider-man game, would love a long retrospective on it. It seems to have been mostly forgotten
This is crazy timing, I just finished a playthrough of Enter Electro for the hell of it
Believe if you want, but for real. Today I decided to watch a Playthrough of Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, when I was about to watch it, your video came up on my feed, so perfect timing! Also, that was a badass intro, sir. 👊🏻

Haha thank you! It's fun seeing everyone's reactions to the video. Thank you for commenting btw!
I'm sure Tommy's mother is very proud of him.
Fantastic video. This was a very, very well made nostalgia review that was fair and critical. You should be really proud of this
Wow. I learned a lot from this. This game was actually one of my early spider-man games when I was a kid. I always love how much effort, research, & etc you do when it comes to these videos. Looking forward to the future Spidey vids. Kudos to you & I hope you're doing well in life.
This was a great retrospective. Loved the game as a kid and this was a great way to relive it.
Always thought this game was super weird when I played through it as a kid. Having watched this, I've realised that I unknowingly played the "What if?" story 😂

He's back with a new video great job as always
Excellent video! Love your analysis and attention to detail. Can't wait for the next in the series!
One of the earliest games I ever played and one close to my heart. To this day I still love the depictions of the characters and hope to see this game remade or universe explored in the future. Also best version of Venom
Hyped for your Guardians video, i tried the game randomly because i saw it on Gamepass and was genuinely surprised how damn good it was

It’s definitely one of my favorite Marvel games in recent years! It absolutely earned the best narrative the award it won. I’m currently writing the video now and it’s been a lot of fun so far. I’m looking forward to releasing it, although we’re probably looking at early June for release
