This explanation about 'double negative sentences' was far better than the ones I had learnt from my teachers at multiple academic institutes in my country. Thanks a lot, Sir!

The thing about double negatives is I hear every time in spoken English especially in American English. In movies, on youtube. Some people I know use it every time.
Splendid lesson! It also reminded me of how much I dislike using the 'ain't' word. :) That example with Mick Jagger was funny and fantastic!
Never is the most difficult for me to use in the questions and answers when I want to ask and answer someone. Today I watch Learn English with Harry ,it makes me feel confident to use never. Thank you so much Harry teacher. You make a fool have to be smart. I will follow you to teach English in KZread.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for your support
This lesson is simply wonderful: delivered in relaxed way, yet so many useful examples included and explained in detail. You've answered even the questions I've never asked.😅 I suppose that some of your foreign students have already explained that their native tongue abounds with double, triple...multiple..negatives. My first language is Croatian and as a native speaker I can juggle almost any number of negatives in a single sentence. Nikad nisam rekla da nitko nije došao. English: I have never said that no-one has come. Sounds reasonable? And now literal translation. I have not never said that no-one hasn't come.😂 I think that Italian language can also accommodate any number of negations within a single sentence. Example? Chi ti ha mai chiesto niente Could be translated as: Who's ever asked anything from you? Literally: Who has never asked you nothing I think that it is rather rude way to brush off someone; approximate meaning would be: Not that I have asked you to help/intervene; it was your initiative.

@@LearnEnglishwithHarry One of the best examples is "i and he" instead of " him and me or him and i". This is so cringy.

First, thank you so much for this topic. Second, for the word "rational" which you have mentioned at the very beginning of this video. My question is , does this word mean reason or reasoning? Sorry, I can't differentiate well between them.

Hi, Aisha. Thanks for watching. Rationale (pronounced rash-uh-NAL) is an explanation or set of reasons for something (action, practice, belief, etc)

@@LearnEnglishwithHarry Thanks for your response,
Hi! Is it correct to say, "Rarely have I not not been on time"? ( I have always been on time) "She did not not mean it on purpose." (She meant it on purpose) "I did not not say I was going to do it." (I was going to do it) Can "not not" be used when speaking? I have encountered this kind of language even in the Harry Potter books. Is it incorrect? If it is correct, is there a name for these kinds of sentences?
