NEVER TOO SMALL New Zealand Backyard Flexible Micro Loft - 36sqm/387sqft

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Cushla and Richard Thurston, utilised the extra space in their backyard to build a 36sqm studio with a unique view over Wellington. Studio 74 is oriented to efficiently collect heat from the sun during winter, with a steeply pitched roof designed to resist the ever changing elements of New Zealand's North Island. The seamless design of the timber flooring, extending into the shower, gives the home an expansive and flexible feeling helping it transition from art studio, to guest house, to multi-generational extension.

The image that they gave to this house using those materials with those characteristics and colors will give it durability over time, it will never look old or finished, in addition the use of the gabled roof gives a height to the room suitable for the comfort of the space, and with the correct disposition towards the sun, which enters through large and sliding windows to exit to a large terrace with green area, fantastic

I‘d love this for my own. Just would have made some beautifully constructed, light, detachable/stowable stairway to reach the Sleeping Loft. Possibly one that you pull down with a rope, that automatically retracts into the ceiling area when not in use. It sure does look sleek to have the ladder, but with older guests it may be too tricky climbing up and down it. And I‘d defitely need a cooktop stove 😋 Love the design otherwise!

Tiny houses have many challenges in order to create a lovely place where people won't feel overwhelmed. However, Cushla and Richard manage to build no just a peaceful house but a sustainable space by taking into account the prevailing wind, the sunlight, and the view. What I like the most about this house is the minimalist design because it allows the interior spaces to relate without mixing up and consequently creates different atmospheres in one place.
