NEVER TOO SMALL Heritage Art Deco Sydney Apartment - 50sqm/538sqft

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Among a collection of 8 heritage listed art deco apartments, Sophie Bowers of Strutt Studios, meticulously crafted a unique, compact home. By cleverly altering the layout Strutt Studios redesigned the space to maximize both function and comfort whilst retaining it’s heritage character. Removing a single wall and manipulating the floor plate allowed Strutt Studios to triple the kitchen storage, and add a laundry and full size bathtub, amenities not found in the rest of the block.

All of these "small" apartments have very high ceilings and huge windows, no wonder they look bigger and spacier than the square meters suggest. On the other hand, you could have a 100sqm apartment with 2,4m ceilings and little natural light and it will feel small, claustrophobic and depressing. The high ceilings and big windows are the main criteria for selecting a flat!

I think it’s how they film it to make it look more spacious. As this was built in 1926, the ceilings are also higher than the average now.

It's a matter of taste, so many people may not love this. For instance, I find the hanging back rest for the dining area off-putting. Just not attractive or stylish to me. It is different but different isn't always better. Definitely can see the care that went into this and the changes that were made that improve the space - like the bathtub and the pull out pantry but a lot of families are not going to jump to own a pink home or want a guest room that leads to the master bedroom with glass doors. Do love that they have the sunroom off the bedroom. I would have changed the whole floor plan if money wasn't an object so the sunroom is off the living room and not the master bedroom. Put the master bedroom in the kitchen area and the kitchen in the living room and the living room in the master bedroom. Guess I just don't like it although I appreciate the quality.

The sunroom was a wonderful surprise. If Hubby has noisy friends over, she has somewhere to go other than the bedroom, and vice versa. I love the aesthetic of this apartment: a neutral palette, low furnishings and slim legs on furnishings keep the ambience so light and fresh. My favourite touch is the judicious use of brass throughout; lovely! The only items that I would add are ramps beside the bed and the sofa so that the wee pups don't have to jump up, and even more importantly, down for the health of their spines.

50sqm isn't that small, but nicely decorated. The layout doesn't change that much because they wanted to preserve the original as much as possible, understandable bold choice of color and keeping the original ceiling is the best idea, it's too beautiful. the dogs tho

I'm apartment hunting right now, and it seems crazy to me that this apartment is 50 sqm. Whenever I visit an apartment of that size, I feel … cramped. Maybe it's just an illusion because it's empty? Because this video makes this size look absolutely adequate for a couple to live in. And I love that!

I mean depends on the person. Like me, I grew up and still deal with a leaning disability so books were always a cause of stress and unenjoyment in my life growing up. There are very few books that I have enjoyed in my life time and for people who struggle with reading compression audio books are much better. So dont judge everyone for not having books. I do have plenty of artbooks though considering they are mainly made out of pictures rather than words

Interesting observation. Personally, I read a lot of books but I can’t process looking at stacks of books in a space because they distract my thoughts, it’s something I’ve reconciled by stashing books in storage boxes. It could be a thing for the owner seeing how deliberate she is with her design
