I really liked when she said that she wanted every thing to be just there no need to pull out something or remake the space. Sometimes those can be clever ideas for small spaces but I think in the long run it can get quite exhausting for the clients to be always remaking your space, the novelty wears out and you're just tired.

Yes, but a slide out shelf to cut veggies on on kitchen's left or an easy-lift, no-need-to-make murphy bed...nothing insane. They can make all the difference.

I would never sell this as a 2 people apartment. I'd love to live in this beautiful flat. The decoration, light, and distribution are very lovely, but I couldn't share such a small, open space with anyone else.

Everyone is different, but I think it is ok to say that this is for two people. I've been living in 33 square metres with my husband and now our toddler) for 10 years. It is amazing how well it does work!

IMHO that sink is too small, I'd personally make it bigger and put a custom-cut cutting board over it, so you have the counter space, but if you don't need it, you can sacrifice it for a sink that you can actually use. If there could not be a bigger sink, I'd likely ditch the sink in the bathroom to get more space and use that space for a kitchen sink which would serve as the bathroom sink as well. That is the problem I have with this apartment, that everything has just one purpose. If you used more multifunctional furniture, you could probably fit a bigger sink nicely, and the TV could have its own place outside the cabinet, too. But as she said, it was custom for a client, so the idiom "1000 people, 1000 tastes" fits very well.

They could have fit a larger sink extending it to the right between the sink and the cooktop. But the sink would have needed a left hand side drain to exit in the same place the sink is now. That's the only unobstructed cabinet space. I would also have moved the microwave to below the toaster (making that cabinet deeper) and put a single dish-drawer dishwasher where the microwave is.

Really like this space, light, bright and sense of space BUT I would throw those chairs out that fancy window and get myself a nice comfy sofa!

There's no where to the slide the door to the left or right. Sliding doors only work if there's space the size of the door on the left or right of the door.

I like how she said she wanted everything to be there without the need for pulling or unfolding anything out which is often the solution for these sorts of spaces. While innovative, I know myself and I know that I would probably not be bothered to unfold anything out (or fold them back up, if they were already out). 😂 I probably would have asked for low cabinetry or some other functional piece to hide the bed away from the rest of the space without compromising the visual openness of the room. 🤔

I like how she takes into account her clientele specific needs in terms of practicality and not just the general mood/aura of the place, and explains the reasoning behind. You can tell she really cares about her clients

What an airy, bright & inviting space. This channel is a place to come to restore calmness in time of anxiety. I just love how every episode has such high production quality and every narrator is so articulate in calm relaxing way that I can listen to them all day. I am hooked to this channel!

I really like how Karin said "We have to think very carefully about the integrity of the spaces that we expect people to live in. They have to be good spaces... quality spaces." If we are going to house everyone and sustainably, we have to live in small spaces, but for it to all work and be happy, exactly Karin, they have to be spaces with integrity! 👏❤

I'm so in love with minimalist designs. So optimal, clean and functional while exuding a zen like feeling.

Everything you need and nothing you don’t. Not pretentious, no clutter, bright and clean. I love it!

Would've done a few things differently. Not bad overall, but the amount of bending and hunching for important tasks is not ideal.

For me it was the super narrow kitchen sink. I’d spill water everywhere trying to wash my pots and pans. Otherwise, beautiful space.

NemoOks I don’t think I have used a sofa in decades. I go for a Marty Crane/aptly named “Lazy Boy.” And I am a woman. (When in doubt, I must use a “Frasier” allusion.)

Wow - it’s bright and open, and covers all the bases without compromising comfort. The abundance of cupboards is great. It’s one of the very best uses of space you’ve shown.

This is probably one of the best designs I've seen. I really appreciate how she thought about the little things one does as they go about their day.

The photography of your videos is truly amazing, one of the best I've seen on YT. The skill put in the making of the videos and the storytelling is what sets this channel apart from any other channel about architecture and design one can find. Watching your videos is a soothing delight.

Despite being so small, it feels big and the designer was very respectfull with every space and functionality.

I'm so obsessed with watching Tiny homes is just crazy...I think I'm more impressed with the designs and organization of such a small spaces. And, importantly the personality's behind the living quarters. It's absolutely amazing what one can do with a bit of imagination. It has made me more appreciate of every thing I have. Thanks for sharing.

I love what she said about the bed! That’s exactly how I feel too. I too in a small space and though I understand the space-saving nature and multi-functionality of convertible furniture I would never get them for my permanent/personal dwelling.

I’m wondering how the designer took the fact that the wife is an artist into consideration... Did she think about her workspace? The amount of sunlight coming in? Storage space for her artworks and materials? Would be interested to know more about that.

I'm starting to think this is a 2nd home. It's in the suburbs so they can go into the city when needed. And perhaps their full-time home is out in the middle of nowhere. Or another scenario is that in the main house their parents or adult children live there. Thus, they do most of their socializing there.

What a beautiful space. She really knows her stuff.

This architect has done a wonderful job of making a difficult space warm and human.

The natural light comes into the kitchen, bedroom and even bathroom. I like this apartment. It is small, but doesn't feel crumpy.

Most likely one of the better open plan designs this channel's ever covered. Although the designer allocated a larger area for the living space, it still doesn't feel depressingly empty. The inclined ceiling has helped create a cozy ambiance, and yeah I feel like I could enjoy living a simple life here.

I like how she manages to somehow split the quite small room into two areas

Kinda 4 really. The bathroom, the bedroom the lounge/kitchen plus the "toaster" area felt like another kitchen area. A skullery, even.

I absolutely love this and the lighting is exquisite...

This channel is one of my all time favorites. I find myself saving the videos to watch until I feel I need it. They are some of the most soothing and calming videos on the internet. But they are also exciting and inspiring.

Beautiful! The color is so zen. Very quiet and peaceful A little impractical and a splash of green - plant - wud make it more functional.

It's beautiful, simple and practical, I'd really enjoy living there !

@@Digmer ☺ Yes, I would've skipped that fixed 2-burner cooktop for a larger sink.🍚Need space to wash big bowls & pots too. Have a pal who 💛loves💛 to 🥘cook🍜 & 🍞bake🎂 that has a full range unit w/a double oven in his condo. We've only used to smaller top oven (that you have to flip the lid of the Dutch Oven to bake bread🤗). The larger lower oven stores his heavy cast iron pots. The range has a totally flat glass cooking surface on top that has become a staging area for small appliances vs using as a cooktop. Although a newer unit, he doesn't use burners on this inherited appliance bcos they take far too long to cook things. Instead he got a single induction cooking pad that he can move about as needed. It heats up brilliantly fast & you can adjust the heat very precisely for different recipes. Tucks away when not in use. We love it. He also has a 6qt & 3qt Instant Pot (pressure cooker|slow cooker combo w/saute capability), a sous vide, an air-fryer, an electric kettle & standing mixer. Most all of these small appliances perfectly take the place of the burners (& oven). They offer amazing versatility & energy efficiency w/o🌡heating up his already hot apt more. Plus, they can all be stored away. As a person who lives in the kitchen, I never thought you could get away w/o a full size range.❤

I would have put the stove under the window to allow more room for the sink. But the tall man would probably not be able to use the stove there.

There is a lovely feeling in this ADU. The use of light gives a sense of peace and luxury.

By far one of the best, if not the best videos on tiny spaces I’ve ever seen, not the area itself but the comfort in the video as if I lived there

Lovely as a B&B. Would like a separate bedroom for a daily lifestyle. I'm sure they did the best they could with the roof.

She's a very good designer and explains her design decisions so well.

I can't believe that in such an unusual space and with quite complicated characteristics they can be able to transform it into a complete place, comfortable and well lit and I feel that that helps a lot to make it look wider than it really is. A very good job in terms of the distribution of the spaces. I'm shocked, I could perfectly live there

Her voice was so calming, it almost felt like guided meditation along with soothing aesthetics of this beautiful home and the calming music. ❤️ Loved the minimalism.

This is actually a good design from what I see. If I was the client, I would've made a loft to give the kitchen the space it needs and more windows for full sunlight. But again, the idea of leaving everything there as it is without doing anything is also something I agree with. Agh I feel conflicted.

I think Sindhuja mean to say hanging wall cabinet concept to used that space as well for any other use ..... man in house is big so I think their is little less options for design but still seems pretty good design.

My family are about to move in with my in-laws. My wife and I will take the converted attic, while the kids will stay in one of the bedrooms downstairs. This has given me lots to think on to reimage the space and claim it as our own retreat. Thank you for posting this video.

This is lovely! I love that it has a nice large bathroom with a big window in it. As for all the comments about the cramped space for ironing - simply stand on the other side of the ironing-board. I'm sure she was positioned that way so we could see her set up the area... but if you really lived there, you would simply use it on the side that gave you more room. Beautiful space!

How do you fit a normal sized pot in to that small sink or do the washing up in there? Or is there a dishwasher hidden somewhere? :-)

I get the impression the designer operated in a price conscious way and I really dig that consideration. Way too many of these projects can end up way over budget for what they are.

I love how minimalistic and bright is in there! All the plants id place in there!

I like how carefully she picked the sink, making sure things would fit in it. I don’t do fancy cooking, so that kitchen is my ideal.

This might be one of the best one. So inspiring and clever use of space and design!

Was expecting a window on the roof that transforms to a balcony, especially at ironing area, kitchen and bathroom.

The location of the stove is a little bit strange especially if clients are right handed. If something is cooking, then the kitchen-sink is basically blocked, because your elbow will be danger-close to a hot pan or whatever. And to tilt every time when you want to use a microwave or open a refrigerator is... hm. Very strange. I would understand a built-in refrigerator, but here you need to open a door to open a door. And can you even put that kind of refrigerator in that kind of enclosed closet without affecting it's air flow?

This is a perfect use of space. A really great simple design.

The geometry of the apartment makes me fall in love. God job! ✨

I would love something like this as a nice little bachelor pad.

I live how there is a car beneath them, and they are living in this confined space!

Wow, love the texture, materials, and colors that you used.

The correct distribution of the spaces allows integrating each part of the house, generating a feeling of spaciousness; The way one item can provide various services is quite ingenious, and it embodies the concept.

I love the design, but I can imagine knocking myself multiple time with that kind of roofing/ceiling 😂

This is beautiful! Although I do think that the kitchen could have been bigger! The seating, dining and bathroom spaces seem oversized in comparison to the size of the entire unit. Whilst the kitchen requires more space.

Yeah there's surprising amount of kitchen storage but then there's that tiny sink you can't even fit a pot into. And I don't know how people can live with those tiny "freezer" compartments within small fridges (assuming it even has one).

The balance of spaces and lack of real living storage or kitchen space makes me think this is just a city crash pad for a the couple who have a home elsewhere. Up North or on Waiheke Island.

I kind of hate the tiny house trend. I think they are cute, but only the portable ones for vacation traveling. I would need an average home of at least around 700 sq ft. The main reason I don't like tiny house to live in full time is because they will experience more wear and tear over constant use. Take the floors for example. In a larger home you have more floor space to walk on but not in a tiny home. In a tiny home you are basically walking the same pattern on your floors every day, which could cause them to deteriorate at a quicker pace than in a larger home where you don't have to step or walk in the same spots everyday.

The actual amount of space isn't too small, but the design/layout is awful. I've seen drastically more efficient use of space in much less square footage. That kitchen is unusable unless you eat out/consume microwave dishes every meal - how do you even wash anything larger than a fork in that sink?

When you don't have a lot of floor space, height is very important. They did a good job and the house looks nice though

My wife and I lived in a similar space in a nice Villa in London (next the Regents Park) and we have fond memories of that time. It was similar in size and interior and it had lots of light coming in (tall windows). Thats all you need as a young couple - less is more.

Wow! Excellent design for a small space.

As much as I love the look of the space, I'm afraid I would keep hitting my head on the roof.

I think I would have put a work counter for the kitchen in the middle of the space, turned in a north/south direction. The counter space against the walls currently is almost useless unless you make the counters deeper so that you don't get fatigued trying to avoid bumping your head on the pitched roof. And that sink is just way too small for anything.

Absolutely. I would have reoriented the kitchen the other way. She should have used every square inch of the center area. Probably would need to move the shower too.
