It’s good to hear a reactor that knows who Chris and Soundgarden is, not just calling it something from a video game. Now that Eli is going to be in regular rotation for the arrangements, I’m excited to hear his point of view on musical selections.

They are not scared to try any genre they love. This was an Eli/Layne arrangement. The execution was spot on. They paid homage (I know that Geoff, for one, is a Chris Cornell fan) to the original plus of course their VP magic in there... Eli built the majority of the set too! The joys of being independent 😉. This went straight to the playlist. 🌹🕊

Chris Cornell was special to so many people 💔 The day he passed I was an emotional wreck all day 😭 This is my first time hearing these guys & I am truly impressed! Of course the low bass note but I loved the Vocals by the bald guy (sorry don’t know their names yet) I’m going to like and subscribe to their channel right now!! 🥰

They probably did add some distortion, however, they also distort their voices as well while singing. I do know Geoff can give his voice that 'buzz' to mimic an electric bass guitar. We've heard that before. But that is more like a regular electric bass, not to the level of distortion to match SoundGarden's level of distortion on the instruments. Hence I'm pretty sure they added more in post. Same I believe with Cesar and higher guitar sounds. We've heard that from him, but I'm unsure whether or not it was him singing the guitar parts here. As they were not as high pitched. Not to say that Cesar couldn't do lower pitched guitar, just that we haven't heard it before, that I recall. I felt they really managed to capture SoundGarden's buzzy, distorted instrumentals here. Which was actually my favorite part of the original. And don't you just love hearing Eli on "No one sings like you anymore"? It felt to me like he was referring to Chris straight out. One part I really liked (that was new) was the way they used 'Black' 'Hole' & 'Sun' almost as separate ooo's or aah's echoing. As someone who used to live out in the Pacific NW, it felt a bit like a soft spattering of raindrops, which went so well with the lyrics of '...wash away the rain'

I didn't know Geoff could add a "buzz" quality to his vocals, but I believe Cesar can do overtone singing (I think he did some in their cover of the Halo theme). After watching this video multiple times, I noticed that Cesar and Geoff were singing the same "Ooo" sound. So I was curious if they were working together, with Cesar doing a bit of overtone and Geoff providing that depth with the "buzz" to give it that full electric guitar sound.

@@layronmccoy8708 You can hear a bit of a nasal buzz on the 'bass' line in "Seven Nation Army". That's the one I can think of off the top of my head. But I'm pretty sure he has done it elsewhere as well.

Chris wrote the song to be a digestive piece. That guitar distortion was on Geoff's bass notes. Also watch near the end when Geoff did a low growl then Layne came back at him with one then you see Geoff look over at him like ( what ? ) I love watching the two of them play off of each other. Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play ❤

Wow; yes! Wow, it is such a great homage and unique cover. They really outdid themselves. Eli is starting to take more turns at heading up their songs and arrangements. This one was his lead with Layne's assist. His style is unique to my ears; he lead Eleanor Rigby and Creep too.

Yeah, that was distortion either added in an effects chain or done post-production. With as smooth as it sounds, I am more apt to think the effect was added during recording and layered in with multi-track in post.

Not a younger follower, in fact, I am 72. But I was a running coach in the 80's and 90's so I heard all the music my young athletes loved. This song is most definitely one of my favorites. I wasn't sure I would like this by anyone other than Soundgarden, but VP, as usual, killed it. Love it and love your reaction.❤❤❤❤❤

I love Chris Cornell and Voiceplay did him and Soundgarden major justice! They honoured the original but brought their own flare as usual. Eli arranged this one and absolutely rocked it! They are all so good. Love hearing a more edgy Anthony he’s got a smooth grit if that’s not a complete oxymoron 😂. I’m here for a Voiceplay grunge era!!

I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum in exposure to Grunge Rock. My son was a teen during the late 90’s and he listened to it, which I enjoyed thorgoughly (more than I did my daughter’s music. She was younger and was into Pop). My son listened to Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, etc. and I loved most of it. Of course, I’m from the 70’s Rock genre generation, which I loved, and still do. I enjoyed your reaction!

When this song dropped, I wasn’t sure what to think of if. I liked it for the fact it was VP, but I didn’t know what to focus on. Fortunately, the more I listen to it through the eyes/ears of reactors like yourself, the more I’m liking and appreciating the song. I know I have heard Soundgarten but I need to go refresh my memory of some of their music. They were a bit after my time as a kid.
