Ed Boyer does the final mix and he’s the hidden member in VP. All the guys do fantastic vocal work and Ed gives it that second exclamation mark. Love the voice distortions in this. Face it, I just LOVE VoicePlay!

Ed is a legend. So many groups out there simply wouldn't sound as good as they do without his magical touch.

Appropriate to wear a Nirvana shirt for this song. "Black Hole Sun" came out just a few months after Kurt Cobain passed away. The grunge community really thought the genre would die without him. Then THIS dropped, and we were hypnotized by the weird video and the lyrics that made no sense, yet total sense (if you were high enough). VoicePlay's take on it is perfect, the same "leaving you blown away" feeling by the time it's over that we felt in 1994.

In addition to working on the arrangement (with a little help from Layne), Eli created the background. It was on large LED screens in the same studio where they filmed Valhalla Calling. Eli, with an assist from his wife and sister/in/law, built the low wall, and of course Eli designed the lighting as well as directed the video. With Eli stepping in now it means they have three members to take the lead on projects which gives Layne and Geoff a little more breathing room. Due to scheduling problems with their cameraman and featured performer, their only releases next month will be shorts. But I’m looking forward to their next long video. I’ve already seen the set, and only someone who owns a studio (and is crazy like Layne) could have put it together!

Yes! Perfectly said; pure artistry in everything they do; they're more than just a vocal group. Yours is one of the best reactions because of how you find and discuss the unique parts. Thanks! That was a fun reaction! It was great to relive this through you after watching it a lot already. I agree that this might be one of their very best. Although I still really love "Seven Nation Army", the way they managed that buzzy, distorted guitar sound of the original for this was amazing to me. Especially since that was my favorite part of the original. And (*snicker*) how appropriate to wear a 'grunge' t-shirt for your reaction - even if it wasn't actually SoundGarden.

They create a karaoke track for their patrons. That's what was playing in the outro. No melody, just the harmonies and beatboxing. It shows us just how intricate that arrangement is!

You're talking of Laine synt sound, have you try to contact them to see if they would make a sound palette with those they could sell to use for other creator (like you)?

Just a though, but if you like Layne's percussion sounds so much, perhaps you might be able to reach out to him for some samples that you can use. I can't promise anything, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Maybe you should hire Layne to make some samples for you? 🤔 You missed one very cool Layne moment - the second time they toss the lead to Anthony, the last word he sings is “snake”. And…Layne gives us a snake.
