03:25 Power Conduit doesn't really have this downside because you can always just put a charge counter on itself in order to remove lore counters. The counter won't do anything on Power Conduit but you don't need another creature or artefact around to activate it.

It’s always fun watching deck techs having not paid enough attention to titles to know the format the deck is for. I frequently find myself wondering “how tf is this gonna work in legacy” before being relieved to realize Brian hasn’t lost his mind and is just playing modern today 😂

Heres a fun fact about Binding of the Old Gods: This isnt a painting, nor is it digital artwork. The artist actually sculpted that out of wood. Its a hefty piece of work. I wish i could have purchased it, but i believe it auctioned fairly high lol

The Golgari Midrange deck in Standard at the moment is the closest I've seen to a deck that actually wants Glissa Sunslayer. Btw, there are _two_ Glissas with static first strike + deathtouch that are legal in Modern - Glissa, the Traitor and Glissa Sunslayer.

Power conduit my love, in my top 5 of cards since it first powered my jank charge counter standard deck in OG mirrodin block. I'll never forget the games i won moving around +1/+1 and charge counters, reloading pentad prisms and beefing up ravagers!

Do you still play this sort of deck? If not I recommend building a commander deck around this very mechanic, Atraxa praetor's voice is good for this. Pentad prism get get into dozens of mana and infinite turns with Magistrate's scepter etc

Even just increasing the land count some (like you did) might help a lot with Journeys being better and helping with ramping into the bigger sagas that often came down too late (or never) this league.

After watching the deck tech, this looks horrible… but I’m totally here for it. I already play power conduit in dice factory with Urza’s saga and the ring so I gobble this stuff up

I think you should leave blast zone untapped so you can put counters on it and use them to grow the creature using power conduit at 31:30

I'm usually not a fan of modern videos, but seeing modern players scoop over a match up or game being slightly hard or different and not playing through is very very funny.

Power conduit is bae

Karn's Bastion could pretty clearly be Urborg, tbh. The deck is so heavy black and a lot of your mana troubles came from not having enough to split the difference.

47:30 Glissa destroys your wicked role and they take 1 after 4 in combat. You had lethal and you were talking about drawing a card. Orcish bowmaster stopped you anyways

Another neat thing I just noticed was you could have eaten the counters on a Murktide with Hex Parasite as it does not read permanent you control. Never would have saved you in G1 but cool interaction i didn't know of.

It’s a fetchable tapland that can cycle. There aren’t many Swamp Forests as there are no enemy Bicycle or Tango lands.

Why can bring to light get tibalt in play? How is this different than the cascade change?

In the case of Casade, they changed the effect so that the card exiled and the card being cast must have a lesser CMC than the Cascade card. So you can't exile Valki and cast Tibalt, but you could exile Flamescroll Celebrant and cast Revel in Silence. Bring to Light simply exiles the card as long as it fulfills the Converge requirement. After which, you can cast "That Card" without paying it's mana cost (So either side of the card regardless of the limitations imposed on exiling it in the first place). You can also do the same by exiling Flamescroll Celebrant with Release to the Wind then casting Revel in Silence (Even though it is not a permanent).

First impressions is that modern is too busted for something like this. But I'm only on the first match

I like the concept but I think there's a few too many weak cards in the deck for Modern. Are we really supposed to be excited about assembling Hex Parasite + Azusa's Many Journeys just so that we can make an extra land drop or gain 3 life? I think if the deck creator wants to be as competitive as possible with this brew, they need to kill a few of their darlings and take out some of the cuter, more marginal sagas and focus on a tighter core of payoffs. You have infinite value if you assemble your stuff but there's no acceleration or protection, so we can safely cut some of the grindy nonsense for more acceleration so that we actually get our cards into play before we lose to Modern Stuff. Also the pathways/bastion should be fetches/fetchables - there's really no need for this 2 colour deck to be so weak to blood moon. And, like, I know The One Ring isn't as sweet as sagas, but it's got some synergy with your counter stuff and the power level is off the charts, so I think there should be some copies here.

There is WAY too much removal for x/1 creatures to have an engine built around parasite.

At least twice in this league you say "not fetching because I want to draw lands". I think this mentality is a holder from Legacy where the lands are painless so not-fetching is free. Both times I noticed you say this, you then paid two life to fetch a shock land. I feel like that two life is exponentially more important than the thinning you suffer from fetching them tapped.

That depends on the matchup. There’s lots of spots where hitting your land drop is worth more than 2 life.

I think I'm going to stick with the heuristic that fetching to thin (and not-fetching to not-thin) is so inconsequential to your probabilities that it should only be done when it's otherwise free. I agree there are matchups where a land matters more than 2 life, but when "a land" actually means "a 35% chance to draw a land instead of a 32% chance" then that land has to be more valuable than 2 life in 29 out of 30 games for the EV to go positive.

I am unfortunately hating what used to be my favourite format. The power creep was out of hand, and then MH2 came out, spiked the power, and ruined what used to be the best format. Now we have a format dominated by free spells, Wrenn and Six, Bowmaster, and the most egregious artifact printed un the last 10 years in The One Ring. Rakdos being 21% of the meta needs to go away, too. It feels like Magic is becoming a sinking ship.

What a sad state modern is in. Can’t do any fun jank anymore because of the infinite free spells, endless overly efficient removal and boring AF money piles
