It’s incredible what intricacies come from such a seemingly simple position. And that these puzzles keep coming, so different from all the ones that came before. That little pawn formation against the king though is quite practical, and worth remembering.
@BigDBrian

with two pawns connected by a knight jump? Yeah, though it only works with the king in front of the less advanced pawn, or the blockade doesn't work
I love these story puzzles. This one is great because it is a very realistic problem that could easily happen in a real game.

Suggestion: Cannonball chess Every two moves, Martin fires a cannon at a random square and if your piece is on that square it dies. But Martin's pieces have put on cannonball-proof armor so the cannonballs don't do anything to them. Good luck!

Personally I can get enough, but I still encourage OP to post more. Great puzzles
I thought endgames were so easy but this video made me change my mind.
After watching hours of Chess Vibes over the past year, this one was pretty easy. :)
I can't even calculate 3 moves ahead but this blew my mind ⚡
Love this!! Thanks for sharing!
I thought it was black to move when first looking and thought it was a draw, I'm like 700-800elo and saw the white pawn had a good shot of making it without much calculation especially with white first.
A very nice one, like a thriller that keeps adding twists to the plot! Thank you for the content!
1:55 confused me completely because I calculated KB3 almost immediately lol
The only thing I knew for certain was that the obvious answer was wrong or incomplete :D Thanks for the puzzle, keep on posting them.
4:40 - Why should black king support its pawns if he could eat the white one? E.g. instead of ...a2 should be ...King h5 and he has enough of time and space to eat both white pawns. So, I believe it's a draw) Or 4:42 instead of ...King g3 should be ...King a5 with the same idea: If f5 - ...King g5 If a4 - ...King g6 SO I believe it's a draw) P.S. My first idea before deep analysis was - it's a draw because each King can eat the opponent's pawn. The only problem will bw with pawn on c2 - it should analysed and calculated deeper.
Hey Nelson, Love your stuff buddy ❤️ Would you consider making a video comparing the pros and cons of d4 and e4?
Found, this was amazing, thanks
Wonderful stuff
This actually happened to me 4 months ago when I was playing chess for 2 months and getting third runner up in school but I was shocked when my grandpa actually demolished me in chess
This reminds me of my friend and his grandpa. He was really good at chess, his grandpa was also really good at chess and would throw puzzles like this at him.
Black actually can attempt to c8 and promote to knight, caused a check but will had no chance to win the game Promote to bishop or rooks end up same as promote to queen
Usually I don't see the answers to these puzzles quickly and just watch the video but I was proud of myself for spotting the full answer to this one immediately
Can you create more such videos ? It was so much fun!!!!! 🤩
Awesome 👍 could you do a video on how to analyze a game? I have no idea what I'm doing
I did saw the first move being h3 but the on forward it was just insane and really hard to see but atleast I did guess that white was gonna win
I want you to make a video on mac Leod opening for white. This opening made me win many matches. Can you please make video on it

1:42 the king can go to h5 and catch the pawn
I thought of putting the king there but only because you can take whichever pawn black pushes.
at 1:16 What is stopping black from going King H5? - If white goes F5, black can chase and eat - If white goes H4, black goes G6 and can eat whichever pawn moves first then chase the other one. Can't really see a way for white to win against that but then again, I'm not a great chess player.
And The Grandson is lucky to have a GM granddad
jokes on you, our grandpa saw his grandpa go to war
The king protects pawn
Super crazy!!
But if you don't chase the pawn after the initial push
I’m surprised I found that as quickly as I did

Endgame table base problem
Mittens grandpa strength: 69420
I saw everything including the replacement
And maybe Mr. Reti comes to Grandson’s rescue!
Didn't see the first pattern but got the rest
king to b3 was the first thing i saw lol
I wasn‘t able to see it right away but at some point I was
In this position, White wins. Scenario 1: h3, kxh3 Trap move, intended to force black to take. If black does take like shown, they will lose to a ladder promotion. Scenario 2: h3, Kh4 In this scenario which is more likely to happen than Scenario 1, we have to force black’s king into a position not winnable for them. Black cannot push passed pawn on the A file due to it being countered with Kb2. Scenario 3: h3, c5 The problem shown on video.
Before I watch it further... h3? King doesn't need to immediately go to b1 to intercept. he can wait for pawn to advance and then go b2.
grandson beinmg that one "smartass" kid which wisdom is on - but he though it's just incomplete + like his brain. xD
How to able to solve this type of puzzles?

And I guessed the king to B3 correct hell yeah
But what if he made a knight and not a Queen in the end then it'd be a check and might end in a draw
At 2:45, after Ke3, if white moves Kb3 (the black king will protect the pawn in d3) and then pushes the f pawn, the black pawn will not promote with check, therefore white ust need a queen trade to win the game, won't it be enough?
Brilliant. so many reversals
What about d1 king move? I was thinking about that one first.
Nice pawn endgame. Aha aha I like it xD
Expect but however you do left weakest ( like me I mean I play for 6 month ( not always ) and become advance ( 1800 )
But what about the knight? /s

I'm currently on 150 elo and solved this position easily but if u may ask why I am 150 elo well that's bc I resign when I get bored and after I actully lose by checkmate I lose hope and get scared of playing
How about Kb3 resulting in promotion withnout check
I got the end game right Does that count?

as a 500 elo, i solved every single move correctly, when do i become GM?

That was Reti’s study on steroids! Beautiful!!
no way i got th eright move when i saw the puzzle
GRANDPAAAAA
Solved this one immediately, move is h3
So at 4:45. From my understanding the Grandson wants a draw with white. Can't he play Kb3 after black moved Kg3. In this way he would get the black pawn either way after the next move with either Kxc3 or Kxc2 if black decides to push the pawn to c2. It's gonna be a draw since there is only the pawn on h3 left and the black king is right next to it? Or am I missing something
@Tzizenorec
4 ай бұрын
After Kb3, Black plays Kd3. Then, assuming both players push pawns to queen, White gets a free move but he can't use that move to skewer the king and queen (because Black's king and queen aren't lined up). So the game works out to be a draw.
@lynixi163
4 ай бұрын
@@Tzizenorec But that doesn't make sense. How could the Black King go from Kg3 to Kd3. He skips 2 whole lines. f and e line. There is no chance for black whose King is on g3 to protect the pawn on c3.
@Tzizenorec
4 ай бұрын
@@lynixi163 Oh, sorry I got your idea mixed up with a different Kb3 line that I thought of. In the line that you were looking at, if White plays Kb3... then Black plays Kxf4 and the game is a draw. Because "the Grandson wants a draw with white" was a misunderstanding. The grandson is trying to show that _Black_ can get a draw. The grandfather is trying to show that White can get a win.
I got it all right

4:37 what if instead of try it g to get to the same board state blacks king goes up to get the pawn to the left of him and then rushes over to the next pawn so there would only be kings left
@byeguyssry
Жыл бұрын
I assume you want the Black king to move to h5, then g6, before going to f5 to capture the white pawn? When the Black king moves to g6, White plays pawn to h4. If you continue to f5, White plays h5, and you're back at the position of the pawns being a knight's move away. Or you can play h5, and White plays f5, and you have the same problem
@snopdogg2x
Жыл бұрын
@@byeguyssryWhat? You can get the second pawn, because if you don't push, you lose the pawn and the king can make it to the pawn and its a draw. You don't have time to push the pawn on the side and king will inevitably make it to the promoting pawn and its a draw. You can't move twice in a game
