If I simply have to leave my dog for a few hours to visit my mom at a frail care unit, I leave the radio on. The voices remind her she's not alone.

My dogs and cat have their own radio and they have their favorit station. They each get breakfast in the morning on my lunch hour I go home to let them out in the back yard. When I get home they have dinner every night at 6:00pm and their after dinner walk at 7:30pm. Just before bedtime they go in the back yard one last time.

my sweetie has no separation anxiety. She as crate trained til about 14 months. (yeah, but now sleeps on my bed.) I had a crate thst would open into a penned off area so she could walk out and move around without having the run of the house while she was still in puppy chewing stage. When she was little and I was working FT, she went to doggy day care..and was loved and loved it. When she was past chewing stage, I let her be at home with a dog cam… she just slept. Happy but not crazy when I come home. now retired, we are together most of the time… but when I go out she is calm and fine.

That would show you what your dog is doing when your not home but there's a bad side to this which is just say your at work & check on your pooch to find he or she has gotten sick or chewed up your couch , what can you do leave work to clean up the mess ? I have had 3 dogs plus the one i have now & i've come home to some things that made me mad as hell but you clean it up or whatever you need to fix or toss away . I personally would rather wait till i get home to either be suprised or more happy than i may have counted on. Glad i'm retired now so i need not deal with that anymore but i did for the last 38 years. Unless you have the best boss around once your at work & see the mess on the camera if you leave work all the time best find another job.

We always put puppy pads down! They can have a sudden bathroom need and if they know the pads are there for that purpose it's a relief for everyone! If you have a dog that likes to play with the pads put something on each end to anchor them! We used to put pads down with kitchen chairs on the sides to hold the pads in place! In the old days we used newspapers but they're no longer available! Everyone is relieved to pickup a soiled pad instead of a big mess or messes! Our dogs had a routine and when they saw the pads being laid out and the water bowls emptied and filled with clean water when they came in from their last potty break! They got their good-bye treat and hug and would go off to eat their treat! My wife had the same ritual each day and they loved it! When we have puppies we always leave a cardboard box of their toys down sideways! If they get bored they can attack the box! Having a cardboard box in shreds is much better than pillows destroyed or furniture destroyed. They got a new box every week!

I leave the radio on low for my dog when I go out to run errands. She doesn't care for toys at all, so leaving her toys around doesn't matter to her. She has her bed, blanket and water in her bowl. I leave the blinds open, and the heat or AC on for her. She seems to be okay with me leaving the apartment to go out. I'm retired, and am not gone for too long. Before I leave, I tell her to be a good girl; mommy will see you later. Pet her on her head, and tell her that I love her. I doubt any dog enjoys being left alone, especially locked in a cage for hours , over half dogs have some separation anxiety which would suggest that dogs really don't like to be away from the pack and it's normal for them to show displeasure, loads can be done to make it easier for them , but by far the most important thing is good exercise, by good exercise I mean exercise that offers simulation in lots of different ways , play ,sniffing ,hide and seek , playtime with friends a visit to a cafe ,a garden centre etc things that give them interest, then once home just quietly leave without making a fuss and build I up gradually, don't make a big thing when you go out or when you come back , don't leave locked up in cages they can't look out of windows they can't change positions (they might be too hot too cold , I'm not suggesting you leave your dog to rip your house up , but once puppyhood is over a well exercised simulated dog shouldn't property damage, choose your breed carefully to make sure you can meet the dogs needs , eg don't have a border collie if you don't enjoy being out and about , there are loads of greyhounds in rescue centres that are happy to have a walk then chill out ,nice gentle dogs , it's awful yo see dogs passed from home to home just because people haven't done their homework, dogs are amazing they deserve the very best we can give them .

If your dog is being housebroken, he or she needs to be crated while you're away. Once your dog has been, this all sounds great. If a dog has separation anxiety, they must still be crated while you're away. My vets have always taught this. My dogs crates have always been in our livingroom as well. Theyll just go in and sleep once in a while when we're home. Its their safe haven. And ive never had a dog that wasnt completely housebroken. Maltese, Chihuahua and now i have a Papillon. 4 months old. Completely housebroken already. But the breed must be crated when alone. I've never left for more than 2 hours. Our vet couldn't believe how well trained and housebroken our Chihuahua was. She wasn't the typical chi. Just wanted to mention.

@@singsonggirl9267 humans have a natural aversion to the word crate seeing it as a prison environment.. just the bars I guess? A well trained dog will accept any ‘safe’ environment as a safe place to rest. Safe places to rest are wherever you want them to be and wherever they feel most comfortable bars or not... I had two sisters who were inseparable, they were happy together, they were trained to sleep on the beanbag in the kitchen overnight.. sadly at 12 year old one died in our arms 😢 the other was suffering separation anxiety so we relaxed the rules and left doors open so she could make her way upstairs to a spare bed in our room. I come back home to feed them and walk out with no goodbyes and unnecessary affection or attention. If your dog jumps on you or your company, learn to ignore this behavior. Correct them by walking into your home by walking past them. No talking no eye contact and no touching until you are ready to relax and calm down. Then when your dog is calm you can give affection. Importantly, don’t baby talk to dogs. It ends up making you and the dog weak. Best of luck with your pets ❤❤

No,no,no. You have to quit your job. Dogs can only be left alone up th 6 hours! And plenty other horse crap this video says. Throw a bunch of your milk bones in a pot of water and freeze them. That way you get a freaking mess of snot when the ice thaws. Where these "experts" get their information from is questionable. They obviously never spent time with animals.

I would put my dog in day care before leaving him alone for a 9-5 job. He gets to go outside and play for a short period every hour with other dogs. He loves it! The longest I leave my dog alone has been for 2 hrs, and usually for only 1 hr at most.

I leave my dog alone almost 9 hours and he is saint and he is fine. I have a camera watching to make sure. He has music on, huge windows, toys which plays with for a while and then sleeps rest of day. He is 1 year old but was uncanny chill even as a puppy. He is the chillest calmest happiest dog I've ever met. Must say though that I do give him 2-3 hours rigourous exercise daily.

Oh the majesty and wisdom of our heavenly Father! We look at a constellation and we see a group of stars that appear to be close together and form the outline of some object. They are not close together. They are millions or trillions of miles apart. They are in a 3 dimentional space not a flat 2 dimentional space. Our Earth is trillions of miles away from those stars that form the constellation. Yet God designed it so that as seen from Earth they form a constellation. This is proof there is a creator God. Only the creator God could do this. This is intelligent design. It is the intelligence of our God. Praise Him.

This is good. The only thing I disagree with is not to put your dog in a crate when you leave. All puppies should be crate trained as soon as they come home from the breeder. It is a SAFE place since dogs are den animals, but they must be trained to love their crate so as not to develop separation issues.

A cop put me down yesterday and called me stupid because I have a limit of 4 hours to leave him alone. I want to do craft shows on Sat and I need 9 hours dog care. One I called said if I need Sat he will be locked in from fri pm to mon am. She lives in this small town and wont run down on Sat afternoon for me to pick him up. As a good dog mom I cant hurt him to do what I want. I made a commitment to him.
