This time of year a lot of people are jumping on the New Year's Resolution dieting bandwagon trying to lose weight and cancel out all their holiday indulgences and accompanying weight gain.

I agree - these days I forget trying to be perfect and instead focus on making progress. Just being better than before.

Cravings beget more cravings. Alcohol will store without spoiling indefinitely and food can be given to those who are struggling. Cheers Lee, and Happy New Year!

I grew up thinking wasting food was a financial sin, so I would always opt to finish everything instead of trashing it. Now I got over it by using the price tag at the store against my squirrel brain and not buying it. I let the store have the liability of disposing of it.

It's amazing how many people still fall into that trap. Another way of looking at it is to factor in how many hours of exercise it would take to burn off that extra food that you don't need. Then calculate how much is your time worth. For example, is eating that bag of chips, pack of cookies, ice cream, etc. worth spending several hours on the treadmill to burn it off?

Nope never done that, I'm 38 and weighed at most 65kg which took me a few years of training and eating all I could to get there. Then I got sick and stopped training for a year and dropped down below 60kg again.

Sorry to hear that. I realize that trying to gain quality muscular bodyweight for people who are naturally thin is just as hard (if not harder) than trying to lose weight for people who are overweight.
