Basically, the song is about running from your demons, what haunts you. You can run as fast and as far that you can but eventually you will have to turn around and face them head on; anxiety fits into that sphere.

to be honest no one knows what Neurosis songs are about :D At least on the good albums. It's my favorite band, but still I can't tell what the lyrics are about.

We Called Neurosis "Horror Hardcore" back in the day- They seemed to have the ability to actually record nightmares. Particularly this album... its truly dark from start to finish. Anyway, Its really cool to see a reaction to it. Even though Neurosis have gained momentum over the last 20 years, this album has somehow never seen the fame it deserved.

It's an awesome band; Great request! Sounds like a good song for Halloween, too - the howling in this gives it the right mood :)

this album blew my mind when it first came out. I came from a more punk background, as did neurosis, but their entrance into a more metal realm Seemed to blow away everything else at the time. I was a DJ at Kzsu Stanford at the time and got to interview Steve von till live in the studio around this time. this remains not only my favorite neurosis album but my favorite metal album of all time. And this track kicks it off in apocalyptic fashion.

Neurosis started off as a hardcore band, that's why Souls at Zero and Enemy of the Sun are faster than their later stuff

For me it's by far their most visceral, straight to the point album. It's the first "true" Neurosis album, where Steve Von Till and the rest of the band really were in harmony together. The drum sound is poor (and the drumming not as precise as later albums), the samples are sometimes weird, the melodies sometimes too repetitive, yet the guitars are so sharp, the composition so powerful that I just love it. The vocals have never been as high pitched as on this album, it's almost black metal in that song. For me it's the first of the legendary Neurosis trilogy, with Through Silver in Blood and Enemy of The Sun. With Times of Grace, you can tell they started a new era, more melodic. According to them, they were also much better and grounded in their personal lives. They didn't have as much rage and shit to deal with than on TSIB. But here, you can feel the rage and the suffering. In my opinion better than with any band on Earth. "The healing touch of time has abandoned me" that's just beautiful.

Awesome video man! Subbed. If you care to check out anything else from this album, "Takeahnase" seems to me like the epitome of the doom/hardcore fusion that Neurosis was developing at this time. I would instantly click on a reaction to that :) Most fans of Neurosis would recommend you also check out Through Silver in Blood, (and you should!), but you're already onto their two best albums IMO.
