Netflix Witcher Fan Reacts To The Witcher 3 - A Night To Remember

In this video I decided to check out The Witcher 3 trailer a nightmare to remember. Since watching The Witcher series on Netflix, one of the main complaints that I heard from the fans was that it wasn't as good as the game . I wanted to take this time to explore that for myself.

Showrunners said they do not like oryginal material from books and game. In fact it was said by someone that they were making fun of books all the time. They think they know better, so they did it their way. Game is VERY true to books and its world (mix of slavic and german olf fairytales). Thats main diffrence. Play the game and you will understand it better. Cavil loved the game and books and tried to be true to them. Probably thats why he left.

this exactly... that's how we end up with this anime style swordplay just for effects where geralt holds his sword like a dagger with a downward grip and decapitates a guy standing in a stone doorframe. it's dumb as fck, doesn't make sense, and was just done to be unique. that's also why the butchered the show by splicing sidestories into it that don't make sense, e.g. cahir was the antagonist in the books, but to them he wasn't enough, so they injected a shapeshifter/doppler for dramatic effect. and that's exactly why he left. also I bet he took a huge pay cut so because the 1st season definitely was low budget, and if he didn't they couldn't have had him. it was possibly based on the calculation that if they stay true to the material this show will definitely become a hit, and then when the budget gets inevitably bigger he gets a bigger cut. but seeing that they butchered it he cut his losses and left. that's ofc speculation, cavil is was to classy and professional to badmouth these ppl.

@@thomaschaumeil3878 well, I guess that's a matter of opinion. I'm not a big of anime-esque unrealism such as blocking enemy swords with your sword laying on your back. but imo the butcher of blavakin fight is way worse, the one where geralt grips swords with a downward dagger grip, and where he decapitates a guy standing in a doorframe without damaging the door frame. that's just idiotic swordplay for effect and inattention to details at it's worst. but maybe that's just me. I don't like "every part of the sword" to be used in a fight unless it makes sense.

Exactly! and that is a defining factor for the game: Using KNOWLEDGE to your advantage! Know the enemy, know their weaknesses and strenghts and find an exploit: The Vampire in the video, is a character in the game: Oriana, a very old/powerful Bruxa, aka, higher vampire: one of the more rare, most powerful, and hardest to kill! Geralt starts with a bomb that spreads small shards of silver to create visibility as the Bruxa has the ability to become invisible! But indeed, before he enters the barn, he drinks a vial of Black Blood: a poison that is fár more effective on the vampiric being, weakening them, and giving the Witcher, an edge! After the Bruxa(Orianna) drank blood from Geralt, the poison is in her system, and it prevents her from becoming invisible, but also reduces her speed, agility, strenght and durability: She's barely a match anymore!! This cinematic is probably one of the best-written intros into a game!

You weren’t wrong, the potion he drank is called Black Blood and it makes the witchers blood poisonous to vampires and necrophages. You can notice it affecting her after she bit him. Can’t wait for you to try out w3, it’s my all time favorite game. Take your time with it, explore the side quests, I would recommend sticking to one or two quests at a time so that you can follow their storyline properly. black blood was introduced in the games afaik, haven't played yet even though I have them in my lib. really should get to it since they "recently" released the next gen update for it. according to lore from books it'd just be his regular potion. I had this discussion with a different fellow, and he made some good points in regards to the black blood potion, but according to game mechanics vampires are immune to this potion. so I'd say this was done purely for effect :)

I feel sorry for those who got to know The Witcher universe through the series, because the series sucks so much compared to the books and the game. In the series, they just turned over half of the ent and now create a separate ent from the witcher universe, which is convenient, because now they will do any crap with the characters, they killed Eskel in the second season, confusing his character with Lambert, after that my patience as a loroveda ran out of course, I turned a blind eye to the extras of people who they didn't suit Laura to change the gender and skin color of the character, but the death of the key heroes of the story, which turns the plot, well, no, sorry.

The writers CDPR had producing Witcher 3 and the two DLC's are magnificent. One extended questline in the main game, The Bloody Baron questline alone, could have been an entire game for most other game producers. The ambience of the Northern Realms in the primary game and the first DLC, Heart of Stone, is broody, grim and gothic, especially in the DLC. Then the second DLC, Blood and Wine, completely changes the feel with vast color and warmth, knights in shining armor so different from the grungy fighters in the North...but even with the total change in the visual aspects, CDPR does not leave the lore behind. The grimness of the north is contrasted by the sunny south, but the dangers, horrors and conflict are still within witcher lore.

The fight scene in the early episode of the Netflix series was consistent with the actual books. It took place in the town of Blaviken and based on this incident Geralt got tagged with the Butcher of Blaviken nickname. It encapsulates the Witcher reality...monsters are real, the normals can't handle it so they need Witchers. But Witchers are "different" and almost superhuman, so people fear and eventually hate them. The sad part of the Blaviken incident is that if Geralt had simply walked away and taken neither side, the thugs would have destroyed the village. But the villagers never had to deal with that, so they tarred him as the "Butcher." A lot of the first season of the Netflix series was close to the actual material in the books...but then the "Almighty We The Writers Can Tell It Better" Guild had to start messing with the material and it nosedived...just like Rings of Power.

Its the forced diversity, woke shit, inclusivity-nonsense that is ruining it! ..to the very core of it all.. And it is such a shame! the Witcher-franchise is an amazing Fantasy-story, comparable to the Star Wars-lore, created by George Lucas. But instead of actually displaying the story as the writer intended and invented it, the Woke-infection, twisted this amazing story into a piece of propaganda and doctrine. No vampire can withstand the soothing, calm taste of black blood. Which is potion that turns your blood into poison for vampires. Although I find Witcher 3's fighting mechanics too reliant to potion imbibing, it's better than anything that show showed us. Also, Geralt always takes concoctions before a fight in the books. But their effects are quite long lasting and they turn him exhausted, unable to be functional for a few hours when they wear off. Yennefer was against Geralt taking those elixirs because they're deadly, though even she never truly understood how Geralt's metabolism works. Witchers are mutated so that they can tolerate the deadly effects of those elixirs, and the enhancing effects make them even more inhumanly fast, strong and tolerant towards pain. Some decoctions literally make them insensitive to pain so when a monster slashes their flesh, they just don't feel it and keep fighting

And when that DLC ends, this person is alive...and you know she's a vampire. Then you get this trailer where she obviously ends up permanantly dead...and Geralt is riding toward the city of Beauclair, the capital of the Duchy of Toussaint. Which is amazing because it means CD Projekt Red produced this trailer with a character from the LAST DLC before they released the main game. That's how far in advance they plotted these games out.

The show is highly flawed compared to the books or games, which is a shame cause they made a great casting pick with Henry Cavil. He was quite passionate about the role which is a shame cause the show writers failed him big time about his request for them to stay respectful to the source material. Regardless he carried the show while he was there and brought an interesting take to Geralt with his final form, bodybuilder Geralt lol

If the Netflix show was your introduction to The Witcher, I suggest you forget everything about it and play the games, they are way more loyal to the novels lore wise

I have no complaints about Henry, he really enjoyed this role and tried hard. But the scenario and directing are extremely bad.

Why didn't they put this in the series? Quite simple, backlash. Instead of sticking to the lore or creating a whole new series, the writers will piss off a lot of fans. They know this and do it with full intention. The more backlash they get, the more views they get. Any publicity is good publicity when you claim to be the victim.

This is what "The Witcher" really is. The show can't touch the books and games. The Witches has different potions, oils and methods for fighting every kind of monster and demon (and their are tons of them.) Do a react to the "Hearts of stone" storyline, I think you'd like it. 💪😎👍

By the way, the original short story "the lesser evil" which this episode is based on is SO MUCH BETTER than this. They removed the hilarious dialog between Geralt and Stegobor, that sets sup the theme of "lesser evil" and then proceeded to remove the plot twist of the entire story, which by the way also tied up story's plot, moral theme and title together and focused them all in one single point. While reading you literally have "holy f*ck" moment, in the series it's more like WTF has just happened moment. Every single short story is butchered this way in the series, and when they finally proceed to the first novel - they decide to abandon the source material and just f*ck around with the plot.

Why they had no such fighting in the tv show? Because that show is extremely badly written and staged. Read the books and play the games. They are both masterpieces.

That little 4 min cinematic captures what the books are like, especially if you really listen to the song. There are seven books, full of moments as memorable as this. If Netflix had sticked to the source material the entire show would be much better than this cinematic. Now you should understand why fans are pissed off by this terrible waste of potential.

You didn''t even play the game or read the books and you immediately pointed out the main things making the show a pile of sh?t. It was doomed from the beginning, as they announced they gonna "do their own thing". Well now they have "their own audience". I hope you are going to play TW3 on console with home theater style speakers, because the story and cinematics INGAME are just epic. Make sure to play the Hearts of Stone DLC, it will give you nightmares :D
