Looks great, but actually way worse in my opinion. I think functionality always goes before design. Maybe you can find a way to keep the functionality. Also the reCaptcha text *has* to be on this page as per the terms of use and common data privacy laws. The imprint also has to be on there for compliance reasons in some countries. I think it's an interesting discussion despite the video mostly being a joke. I think it's a typical beginner problem as a designer.

Hello! We meet again! lol, anyways I do agree, functionality comes first before designing, it has to be well functional at best and easy to use! Like for example, if you prioritize designs more than functionality you may run into some problems espellicially with not being usable or easy to use/convenient. A good example is KZread's User Interface, and while the design looks nice, but they took away some functionality just to make it look good or more "modern" like, here's some stuff they removed: -Date added oldest feature -Dislikes (Included in list because most social media has no dislikes as that is "modern") -And video thumbnails edges (This caused some problems with smoother corners) But yeah you get the idea.

I see a lot of people getting mad here, so let me step in.. People are saying things like “functionality comes before design” or “this is why we don’t let designers make business decisions”.. First of all, design is where “form” (art) and “function” (engineering/development) come together with a user’s perspective in mind! Without proper design you’re left with ugly things that just about so the job, or art pieces that do absolutely nothing but look pretty (subjectively). So what do you think a UX Designer, Brand Strategist, or Strategic Design are? They’re for business strategy focused on brand/design first to ensure great user experience, gut impressions, and all encompassing strategic planning in alignment with the target user. Functionality coming before design = all the trashy websites from the 90’s or a generic logo slapped on a tradesman’s van. No design thinking to this, just “does it work, ok it’ll do”. That’s an engineers MVP approach. Or the mindset of a concept prototyper. Having said all this, I do think removing the sign up button under the argument that McDonald’s says “welcome back” is a bit of a stretch. McDonald’s doesn’t require a sign in, so they don’t need to ask if you have an account or not, so it’s totally ok to assume they’re coming back, because if it’s their first time it doesn’t change the user journey. Instead of removing it completely, it could be moved to a minimal footer, along with the reCAPTCHA declaration. That way we retain the clean design while keeping the important functionality. I think a nicer way to put some of the comments would be “functionality INFORMS good design” or “we don’t let designers ALONE make business decisions”. The details matter!
I feel like if you added the stuff you removed back in _(like the sign up reminder. phone number and the footer could probably be accessed by a button on the menu)_ it would be a good improvement, definitely like what I see with the background and the idea of the sign-in, though.
@sacerdos8181

The loading/asyn button state is used when making a call to the server to validate the users login credentials. In your example, If an error was to occur they would jump from a splash loading screen back to the login page which would jar the experience. Using an asyn button indicates that your data is being confirmed and if an error occurs the fields will be marked with a critical state and a notice can be displayed without displacing the users position, this also allows the user to be informed of ways to solve the issues in the form. This is probably the most common and most user friendly experience for a login page.
