Nah. People like Xander thrive on self-pity . It might be sweet for a couple weeks then after that, I’m sure it gets pretty annoying to deal with. It’s also worth thinking about what she sees in Vanessa to have dated her for 4 years . Perhaps they’re more alike than we think. Which is why I’m also looking at Lexi sideways. I get the vibe she doesn’t want to get married ever and would much prefer to be in an open relationship. Which maybe her and Xander have talked about it, maybe they haven’t. And I think everyone is making her feel bad for never wanting to get married which seems a bit backward. Even her saying she doesn’t have romantic feelings isn’t crazy. People have sex with people they aren’t romantically attracted to all the time! Friends with benefits didn’t just go away in 2012.

Y’all please don’t think Lexi is a great example of emotional maturity. She’s certainly got it together compared to Vanessa. But yelling at someone in public, continuing to publicly scrutinize them isn’t okay. The threats she made to Rae were not okay and she escalated the situation unnecessarily. To me I see a lot of black and white thinking. To me, Mal is a much better example of emotional maturity. Also Vanessa is playing a role and getting the villain edit. Keep in mind this is a tv show.

I agree there’s a rush to put Lexi on a pedestal that could cause some unhelpful takeaways from the show. I think she’s getting a hero edit because she has relatable reactions to some wild situations and she can be charming. There’s a focus on her being wise for her age when some of her choices are not good. It’s very reminiscent to me of one of the “heroes” of Love is Blind season 4.

Thank you. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Vanessa much, but I also don’t like Lexi’s personality much either. Like why did she tell all her family that Rae cheated on her and made Rae feel sooo bad when Lexi was also becoming obsessed with Mal herself. Very hypocritical. Lexi and Rae are NOT a good fit.

I find it weird that Vanessa was so fast to come to a conclusion that she doesn’t want to be with Xander at that party but doesn’t bother to communicate with her at all. And how Rae chose her knowing she, herself wants to be married and have children but Vanessa wants to explore polyamory and isn’t interested in marriage at all. Which is why I did not feel bad for her after expressing her feelings about “the situation” and she’s crying and then Vanessa says “remind her how hot I am” lol what? Rae wanted to engage in sexual activity with her, I don’t like how Vanessa is being villanised for it. You don’t fuck friends is dumb because there are plenty of friends with benefits but it was weird that she wants romantically interested. What really ticked me off about Vanessa was that as soon as Lexi called her out she decided to be petty was fuck and say she was interested in Mail at the table to hurt her. And Mail turned round and said “we’ve had one date”, it was clear it was malicious. She then said “I’m happy you chose me (Rae) before I could choose your first”. Girl, what? Your first choice was Lexi, then you tried Mail and you’re not even romantically or sexually (as you claim) interested in Rae. Why would you have chosen her? I don’t think she’s the worse person I’ve seen on reality Tv, mainly because I know editing is always going to play on the fact they’ve found their villain and they need it to look way worse than it is. But yes, I’m not sure what her intentions are. Edit: I’d also like to add. No one’s intentions are completely pure on this show. If they wanted to sort their relationship out, they’d have got to therapy, counselling or done the experiment on their own. It doesn’t need a budget and TV crew.

A lot of ppl aren't even realizing that by the 2nd episode, Vanessa knew Rae would be the only option she had left. She literally had no other options. The rest of the cast picked up on her bs immediately. Took Lexi actually LISTENING to what Vanessa was saying & not be blinded by constant compliments to wise up, but she did. Vanessa even tried to play in Lexi's face after being confronted with her "Well don't feel bad if I don't pick you" statement. I was glad Mal called her out about their 1 convo. It was obvious she was trying to make it seem like she had multiple ppl to pick when in reality it was only 1. I think both Lexi/Rae were distracted by their attraction to Vanessa to pick up on the nonsense from jump b/c as a viewer, it's very obvious Vanessa was there to fuck as many ppl as possible & find a reason to dump Xander lol. There's no amount of editing that can make you say/do the shit Vanessa was pulling lol

This was maybe the best show recap yet in my opinion. The question montage, the sleuthing (blew my MIND) the jokes, incredible job. I was losing my mind after these episodes and I needed a friend to freak out with and make jokes and you are that friend. Thank you 😅

The Beyond Belief compilation, I was screaming! I could've used that when I was still dating, that's a bunch of great questions, preferably all in one date without wanting to listen to the answer 😂

I dont think Lexi wanted Rae to not do the same, she was okay with her talking and flirting with other people and wasn't uncomfortable, she was even dating and flirting with the same person (Venessa) However, it was when Lexi clocked that Venessa isn't a good person and tried to tell Rae about it so she could be cautious at least so she won't get hurt by her. That's when she would rather her choose someone else thats there besides Venessa.

I feel like it’s an unpopular opinion, but Lexi is my least favorite person there. Vanessa has issues, but she comes off as misguided. Lexi’s behavior seems more malicious to me. She doesn’t actually treat Rae that well. You can see that Rae is constantly emotionally distressed when she’s around Lexi :/

I could see it happening after cameras left, but don't think they'll survive past the airing of these episodes. Xander would have to get past the visible lies, the manipulation, gaslighting, etc. that were forever caught on tape. The newfound self-respect with Yoly won't allow that. They experienced 1st hand someone loving them for them.

Vanessa is so scary… she seems to have some misunderstandings around consent.

You can dislike Vanessa but people making baseless accusations like that are only going to hurt her (a real person) and other victims

Love that you opened woth pointing out all the other options these couples had besides this show. I watch it because its very premise is messy. Love that Netflix is embracing queer romance reality. So far the editing choices haven't felt fetishized either.

I was wondering in the beginning how this would turn out. They're all the worst versions of every bad couple from every romance show. The fact every single one of them flipped so quickly to calling their partner an ex was weird af. The French ultimatum understood what this show was actually for, thos one kind of just shows that queen couples move on extremely quickly and are extremely fake.

Especially in a society where so many people aren’t self aware and have no sense of accountability. She catches onto behaviors and details that most people just don’t, then she’s able to communicate them effectively- the rarity of communication skills and emotional intelligence. Also, your brain isn’t fully developed til you’re 25; not that it makes a difference for many people.

I couldn't hate vanessa past a certain point because it just started feeling like bullying to me. Like I get the usual "youre not here for the right reasons" spiel and her behaviour towards xander really sucks but at some point it really felt like ganging up on her. Treating her like shes some kind of monster and the way the sex conversation was had turned hard to watch lexi looked like a step away from calling her a rapist + also the edit being very transparent with wanting to make her the villain such as when they made it look like she was laughing while the other girl was crying. Shes definitely a weirdo and ive seen someone else saying she looked like an alien trying to navigate human conversations and... yeah. It just feels like she doesnt know how to interact with other people but that doesnt make her a monster or even fake. I would probably hate her for the asexual comment in the beginning but nah. At some point its just ganging up on an acceptable target

Yes, thank you! I think Vanessa is misunderstood. I don’t know this for sure, but I feel that she may be neurodivergent and that can make it difficult to interact in social settings. Vanessa definitely made some mistakes, but to me Lexi is the real villain. I get big mean girl vibes from her unfortunately.

Y'all did an amazing job. This is so true to lesbian culture (on steroids lol), I love it! Also love how you showed the most normal consent questions and how different kind of attractions were discussed without anyone acting weird about it. Sure, the show is a mess, but it's a lesbian mess so I'll protect it at all cost 😄

I hope that Mal and Lexi become a couple. They seem very like minded. They seem very settled and mature about this whole process. And I think that Xander and Yoly are well matched. So I think that's a win-win. Rae, she plays her cards very close to the vest. I think she has feelings for Lexi, but she's not ready to take that next step and I believe encountering someone as over the top as Vanessa has opened her eyes to what she's had in Lexi. But it may be too late because Lexi's with Mal, and she sees a partner that's reciprocating her feelings for a homelife, marriage and children. I'm baffled by Aussie, for a woman of her age to be so emotionally stunted to me is interesting. Could it be cultural? Could it be the fact that she did not want to come out because of culture. But, then again, you have Mildred being very passive-aggressive, being very used to a toxic style of communication with Tiff. So maybe that shuts Aussie down even more. Who knows but I don't hold out hope for those couples. But, I am absolutely 100%. Rooting for Xander and yoly and Mal and Lexi.

Not that I care much about this, but why did y’all think that word meant you can’t form romantic relationships when the definition is literally….right in the word lol

People often confuse asexuality and aromanticism. While these two can go together, they don't always. The Split Attraction Model is helpful for explaining this.

Vanessa is a narcissist and has no empathy and it’s scary asf 💀. First off, before they even went into this it was like she was trying to let Xander down easily by telling her to look for someone that could be special to her and she could see herself with…and then when they hugged her eyes just seemed so dead , it was so terrifying.

So you're just not gonna talk about how awful, inconsiderate & uncompromising Tiff is because someone doesn't wanna sleep with her dog⁉️ Let's just call it what it is...selfish‼️ Mildred isn't much better. She turns into a bit of a bitch by the end & changed my opinion of her. The only thing she is right about is that Tiff is trying to build an entire relationship on good sex. A good match for Tiff would've been Vanessa based on that fact. But her & Mildred deserve each other. I love these shows because they have some truly unlikable people usually. Villans. This season did not disappoint with Vanessa(I hate that she shares the same name as me), Tiff & Mildred. But the surprising thing is there are some truly lovely personalities too. I ❤️ Zander, Mal, Lexi & Sam!!! The jury is still out on Aussie.

Right! My opinion on Mildred changed too. I kind of felt an understanding of her during that convo while Aussie was ironing. Then I remembered back to how hard she tried to come across as considerate (way too hard) in the beginning and the pieces just fell together. I believed Aussie’s side and empathized. She seems fake. I don’t particularly favour Aussie but that’s what I felt

The hypocrisy of Lexi. The superiority complex of Lexi. She’s literally going off on Vanessa about not thinking Xander would have a connection with anyone else there. Then she loses her shit at Rae having a connection with anyone else but her. The whole scene of Yoly & Lexi bullying Vanessa about having sex with Rae while Yoly fully had sex with Xander was gross. I’m not saying Vanessa doesn’t suck. She does. She sucks. But the hypocrisy, the thinking you’re better than anyone else is GROSS.

I don’t know man… I was on the Xander train until she told Yoli she’s it and ready to marry her at the cocktail party only to say she doesn’t know later in the evening. Also the way she is leading Vanessa on and telling her they’ll get married or end up together as well.. idk feels a bit scummy.. Like be honest and don’t lie to both people. Be upfront ya know?? I started side eyeing her when she started living with Vanessa again. Yeah Vanessa is a fucking mess and I can write a whole paragraph about her but Xander is leading her on. Also, them both deciding to not get physical with anyone on the show then Xander immediately starts fucking Yoli and get mad that Vanessa fingered Rae…??? Uhmmmmm

@@YouWillGetThereBuddy - valid points after I binged episodes 5 -8 over the past two nights! I still adore Xander yet I can see her sort of "giving in" to Vanessa ("Xander!!, say 'I love you' back""!) out of what I perceive to be an in-the-moment kindness to not make waves with Vanessa. Mal, on the other hand, is SUPER straight-forward with Yoli ... I REALLY appreciate how Mal speaks to Yoli, validating her confusion and giving her space, while being totally honest with her. And you know who's grown on me during the last few episodes? - TIFF!!!! I'm starting to REALLY like them!!! Super cool human.

I get just saying shit to appease the situation but she quit literally slept with Vanessa in the three week trial too. She told her on the air balloon that they were ending up together. Her and Yoli made it seem like Vanessa did the worst thing she could with Rae and aired out her dirty laundry in front of everyone but refused to address that they had sex as soon as they possibly could. It’s just hypocritical.

Vanessa is the worst villain in reality television in quite some time and let me tell you why. The way she blatantly disrespected Xander at the choice dinner was so awful and so humiliating to everyone. You said you don't wanna marry this woman, but you're sitting there telling her to f off. The woman gets 3 words out when asked a question by the host and Vanessa has to center herself in the conversation, nobody is even talking to you, ma'am. Sit at the end of table and shut the f up. She has to be the center of attention. All eyes have to be on her, and she's just desperately wanting to be the it girl, the hot girl that everybody wants..Lexi called her out on their date and I agree Vanessa is not tethered to anyone, and if you listen to her words and if Xander was listening to her words, she would know that, and she would have left that relationship long before ever giving Vanessa an ultimatum. She's only for herself. I'm not gonna call her narcissist.. I'm gonna call her hedoist. A very immature one hedonist.
