If you are all rainbows and sunshine you can't be a leader. People won't respect you. Even a highly positive coach like Kevin needs to have the ability to be harsh if he wants to succeed at the highest level.

Sometimes a well timed ass chewing is exactly what is needed.

This is leadership 101 and KOC is rocking it. Praise your guys out in the open, and discipline behind closed doors with only those who need to be disciplined. On top of that, he as a coach is taking accountability by saying "We will fix it", not "You will fix it". He recognizes that it needs to be fixed and changes from top down need to be made. Everyone should be praising this coach.

Burnsy would need at least 10 more F bombs throughout that speech. KOC is doing rookie numbers.

I was glad to see that he can be hard on the team when they are not performing. His media image is all rainbows and unicorns. He talks forever on every question and always answers with standard culture and team dynamic answers.

KOC is probably a whatever coach. He gave up more points than were scored and was blown out multiple times. Then, loses to Daniel Jones at home..... after that..... Flores defense was the only thing working last season, and that resulted in another losing season. Remember the back to back tush pushes against Cincinnati? Terrible, lol.

Zimmer was what they needed at the time he was hired. Eventually though the players grew tired and deaf to it. I like KOCs positivity. If he can mix in just the right amount of Zimmer nasty it should work out.

Players respect a coach who is fair. Praise when it’s warranted, and chewing out when it’s deserved. If you praise when it isn’t earned leads to players not buying it when it actually is. Chewing out when it isn’t warranted, or is delivered all the time leads to mistrust.

As a Vikings fan, I’m actually glad we got chewed out because of that but at the same time I felt bad for JJETS for losing the ball in the end zone that could’ve been a touchdown easily(I guess you could call that a fumble iirc)

I don’t blame him so many dropped passes, missed blocks etc early on in the season. Do you realize how many of those games we lost last year just from what we did to ourselves??

The only thing stopping KOC from being a GREAT coach is he hasn't figured out game/clock management. If he figured that out, we will be rolling like a freight train.

From what I understand, Bud Grant never did any chewing out. So you don't necessarily need it, but it takes a Grant-ish persona/vibe for that to work, I think.

I think that was the dumbest play I ever see was the Vikings Vs Eagles Game in Week 2 of 2023 with touchback and I don’t think that how it works because you can’t take away a ball like that from Justin Jefferson plus I think he close to touchdown plus had 2 feet down at the 1 yard line and Vikings would definitely won the game without any turnovers.
