Wow, I've installed it on my proxmox machine and it even started monitoring of containers. Really impressive!

Did you install it directly into the Proxmox OS or did you install it in a container or VM?
Sponsored or not, I trust this product already because of this channel :)

I've needed this. Thanks.
I did use Netdata for a few years some time ago but eventually renounced as it was resource intensive, particularly noticeable with small servers. Hope things have changed since...
What about network devices? What does snmp look like?
I really enjoy Netdata, at much as I kinda hate adjusting my health configs in Netdata 😂.

We at Netdata are implementing a Centralised Alerts Configuration Management and will be rolled out soon. So you can configure your alerts from the Netdata UI.

@@satyad080286 That sounds like a great improvement 🤞😊!
One way to get around the cloud account stuff is by letting Netdata agents push data to an on-prem Prometheus instance and in combination with Grafana, you can view multiple nodes as well. Didn't set it up personally but according to the docs it's possible. Just saying.

The biggest advantage of Netdata is that it comes with readily usable dashboards and other capabilities which could take weeks or even months with Prometheus and Grafana. And more importantly, you need to know exactly what you want to see when it comes to Grafana dashboards. So, I am really not sure it is worth the effort to push the metrics / data from Netdata to Prometheus and visualise them on-prem using Grafana. :) Btw, Netdata is coming up with an On-prem solution for enterprises soon and it will be good to wait for it to be available.

@@satyadeepashwathnarayana1943 looking forward to that on-prem version!
Thanks for sharing about this tool
Jay, in this video you talk about putting the netdata port behind your firewall. Would you have the process for implementing this on Ubuntu laptop? Please point me to these steps. Thanks Mike Guschke
I need that TShirt. Being an Arch user, i think its abt time i wear one. Cool vid, btw.
how can i manage offline machine that will gather all the metrics from all other machines ?
Hello, is there a reporting system? Can we receive reports?
Awesome!! If I installed bind dns on a server and then installed netdata on the same server, Is it possible to monitor bind service?
I would like to see a video going over the ability to monitor windows systems with netdata.
Thanks!
Hey! Would you make a guide how to host Lemmy server on a home server? UNRAID or so?
OK, so with all the privacy in the internet - are we giving for free (or even pay) all our data to the company that is behind netdata?

They don't store the data, their servers are only used to stream the data
Oh, so you gotta install netdata on all your devices?
IMPORTANT: when you install netdata, specifically when your run the kickstarter script, there are a few options you can pass to it. They are important! 1 has to do with automatic updates ON BY DEFAULT, another has to do with installing nightly vs stable versions, IT DEFAULTS TO NIGHTLY. The third is about sending statistics which, you guessed it, is ON BY DEFAULT. The last one has to do with connecting to cloud. It's all in their "Install Netdata" docs page. Choose carefully based on your needs and use-case!
Too bad you need to make an account to use it. I just love my data being mined. For what possible reason would they make it so you can only use it if you're logged in; if not to spy on people?
Open source, and no account needed 🤤
