I saw an interview with a Christian Palestinian whose family home was destroyed by IDF. Their neighbours received a letter from IDF saying their (the neighbours) house will be targeted. His family wasn't warned, but when the neighbours told them, they decided to get out of their house as well. They were standing in the street when the neighbour's house was hit. A minute later their house was hit as well. They would have died if they had not erred on the side of caution.

Or when German authorities closed-off the Warsaw Ghetto, because of an "epidemic". The sincerity of the Jewish lady who called in should be admired. She genuinely wishes a peaceful future for Israel but I think her understanding of the feelings of the majority Israelis should be questioned. The truth is the majority in Israel support what IDF is doing in Gaza and about 30% think IDF is not doing enough to finish Gaza. She is quite right to believe that the only way Israel can live in a peaceful neighbourhood is to accept that their Palestinian neighbours are also human beings and should enjoy the same rights as those in Israel.

And then you have no journalist from the inside or outside to cover it, because IDF deliberately targets journalists. Not to mention aid workers, medics, basically anyone who would help these civilians. Of whom 50 percent are children.

I think it is very easy to understand Netanyahu's motives: he wants the eradication of Palestinians from all territory that he views as being the property of Israel. International law, conventions and pressure held him in check before October 7th, but the Hamas atrocity, and the world's backing for legitimate self-defence, has let him off his leash. He now sees the eradication of Palestinians as being within his grasp and he's going to make sure he achieves this before he's sent to prison.

The caller from Tel Aviv raised the issue of assumed threat. During the first raid on Al Shifa hospital in Nov, I believe, IGF left 3 babies at the hospital. Each was given their own bed and left to decompose, after Israel forced everyone out of the hospital. Because of the outcry about those preemie babies before they raided the hospital, IGF said that they would be transported to a safe hospital. They never were. They left alone to die. The most very helpless of us all treated with such disrespect ... were they assumed terrorists? Or posed a terrorist risk?

Some Israeli supporters will say, ‘oh we gave Gaza the chance for independence when Sharon dismantled the Jewish settlements in Gaza. But they voted for Hamas.’ That view ignores the fact that Gaza’s borders were completely blockaded and controlled by the Israeli government, who controlled everything going in and out of Gaza. What freedom is that? Gaza is a big concentration camp. Israel gets so much military support from the west in the name of ‘security’, but what about the security of the Palestinian people, who have had their lands stolen and homes demolished by Israeli government and settlers. There are so many political prisoners, held withou trial.

I truly never knew how many evil people there are in the world. To just dismiss babies and children being killed in their thousands and call them collateral damage just makes me believe we are nearing the end of times.

It’s hard to instinctively 1:09:15 trust a country that won’t allow independent journalists to report from Gaza.

Just wondering how many people have overlooked the fact that starving the population in Gaza and even denying food to Hamas ultimately starves the hostages too. For want of a better word, Hamas hostage takers are still hostage guardians whose duties are to keep them alive as a bargaining chip. More evidence the hostages are not Netanyahu's top priority when his military have killed almost 200 aid workers and even today shot a lone unarmed man attempting to pick up airdropped aid.

I'm not gonna say it would be completely unjustified, I just wouldn't want them to sink into that state. I know, it won't happen, more terror will continue. But who will cause more terror?

Did you just get arrested or also charged, fined, or convicted. Police can make arrests to preserve public order, and some Police personnel might hear the chant "from the river to the sea" and interpret it as inflammatory. Which it as a slogan is. It isn't really helpful to bring your point across. I don't think you should have been arrested, but your phrasing wasn't really helping either. I also don't know what you telling that anecdote is supposed to show other than getting you some attention.

I choose to say "from the River to the Sea" because when I say ISRAEL, Zionist play this semantic game of, "there is no Apartheid in Israel... 15% of Israelis are arab..." I also think it's helpful for people who are unfamiliar with the conflict to ask, What river? Which Sea?

@calj2090 Well, it depends on the context. That is why I asked for clarification. Were you temporarily arrested on a demonstration? Or were you picked up at home one afternoon? Were you charged or even convicted? There is a lot left to peoples imagination in your original comment. It could be a quite "routine" arrest during a protest, or it could be an authoritarian security state coming after you for something you uttered privately.

To say that the state of Israel represents the entire Jewish community and that every Jew must and should support the IDF is in and of itself incredibly antisemitic. There were many prominent pro-Israel pundits that called Jews that opposed the Netanyahu government or what the IDF is doing as “not real Jews”. It’s quite incredible but also dangerous rhetoric.

To answer your question the reason is obvious: it was never about getting the hostages out it’s been 6 months,,, it was about razing Gaza … Netanyahu needs to go he is horrible for Israel

Honestly I don't consider them as such..with the morals and example they show, there is no need to argue their personalities with such accusations..

@@jjohn408 yip, which is why he was in Qatar three month prior to October 7th. Qatar funds Hamas(either through aid or whatever) and Nethanyahu literally went there and asked them to CONTINUE to provide aid to Hamas.

Israel is happy that aid providers are leaving.This is their plan. The lies and dismissals are getting ridiculous. US and Israel are isolating themselves!

My wife is Palestinian. We are now both French citizens, As is our adopted Palestinian daughter. My wife Aude has lost at least 5 family members in Gaza in the last 4 months. Her two nieces were 9 and 12 years old killed in a missile strike. I have spent a long time working in Gaza. I listen to the callers to LBC, I read the comments and I realise that nobody on either side of the popular views has the slightest idea OF WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT ! Israel is often referred to as the only democracy in the Middle East. However like its undemocratic neighbors, it doesn’t recognise international law. We need to make that distinction when talking about Israel.

One state solution is the only solution.Two states means borders, checkpoints and constant fear on both sides. One state, like South Africa, forced to be united, to deal with their problem head on, in dialogue and not violence, why? because they share the same nation. If we can do it, so can they. They need a decade long truth and reconciliation commission to deal with the brutallity of what has happened so far. One state, call it anything - The Holy Land, The Levant, come up with a new name?
