One of those weirdly good games...I mean, think of how many (American) football games we had for NES, and only the TECMO games were good...and then we've got this game...none of us were thinking, "I wish they'd come out with a great beach volleyball game!" and yet this had us all hooked. Definitely in my NES top ten.

One of my all time favorite games. My cousin introduced me to it. He used to kill me in vs mode. Funny thing was he was playing for weeks and didn't know how to super spike. I borrowed it and figured it out. When we played again I let him run up the score to within 2 of winning. I Kaaaaaaaaaabooomed my way back for the win! The look on his face...priceless.

Whoa whoa best music? I gotta go with Ninja Gaiden trilogy my guy. But I had this game & it also came with World Cup on the same cartridge Argentina had some pretty good music too.

Losing an easy point and then purposely diving all over the sand in frustration while waiting for the score to come up.

Busted my ass so hard to finish this game. It's been so many years ago; yet I remember the music and the soundeffects of the game.

This is the farthest I got as a kid, my dad even let me stay up past my bedtime to try and beat them. Well they won and I cried.

This was one of my favorite games when i was 10. It was a 2 in 1 Super spike volleyball and world cup soccer in the same cartridge . Good times. Beat them both and would beat all my friends lol :D

The “Kabooom” always had me weak😂

At 14-12 the Navy attacked the serve which is illegal! This navy team must be based out of Foxboro Massachusetts.

@KashiwaDaisuke lmao man, I was one of those kids. My mind was blown when I accidentally learned to charge because it made matches so much easier.

This was the best! Used to stay up all night playing this game with a friend and we could NEVER beat that final team from Hawaii...it was near impossible.

80s, volleyball, and the US Navy. Top Gun much? Also, they did a good job on the F-14s and the inclusion of CVN-65, USS Enterprise.

It reminds me a lot of my youth. I play it from time to time on the mini nes, or on my tablet with an emulator.

This game was so badass...we used to play this for hours while attending college, the whole volleyball team use to go to my house...mom use to get PISSED!!!

3:18 premium serving (I love that you can do that in the game, i used to do that on purpose, just to laugh, another one is to toss it up and do nothing, they watch it fall to the ground, very funny)

I hated going up against the U.S. Navy and U.S.S.R. Both such a pain in the ass to beat.

USSR was the toughest, but beat them MANY times anyway. Loved this one!

I just played it on my original cartridge just because of this. They beat me 3-5, got 'em 6-4 on the rematch. Beat USSR 5-0 lol.

I loved this game had it brand new when it came out for nintendo also had dodgeball n yes i had the original Nintendo as a kid got it for xmas from my parents when it came out i was like 4 or 5 years old came with the gun plus duckhunt n mario

they just don't make quality-surreal sports game like this anymore (and world-cup soccer, and super dodgeball, and river city, and.. well, pretty much the whole Tecmo franchise for the NES).

I didn't know about the service, but the others I'm well aware =P It's really hard to block these guys or blow them out of the court.

The reason US Navy is tougher than Team USSR is because of the sudden ramp in difficulty level. If you're good enough to win this match, you're already prepared for the crap Team USSR is going to pull.

I have seen lots of superspike v´ball vids lately but you guys don´t even use half of the hidden special skills for example1- you can do a superspike service, 2-if you press A many times, when blocking you could avoid being kaboomed 3-the most important, you can actually take an opponent out of the court if you use the turbo to make the superspike-kaboom hit,there are others I can´t remember but these were the most awesome ones.

sscrystal10 you can also steer the direction of the spike to some degree w the d pad. Up down left and right can help you place the spike up top,down low or near or far from the net.

I still dont know how to charge blocks and spikes :(

i played the hell out of this game back when it first came out. i will still accept challenges up to this day cuz i love this game so much. NO OTHER VOLLEYBALL GAME has ever topped this for me. and Data East made some kick-ass game music for its time.

You're Not a real gamer unless you had the "super spike v-ball/world cup soccer" cartridge. 2 of the greatest sports games on the same cartridge. Throw in the wireless 4 controller module, and 3 of your friends.... I still think it might be THE best sports games that ever came out.
