I have been and always will be a Nerd. Picked on, beaten up. In high school I studied martial arts (a combo of Judo and Tae Kwon Do). One day my primary bully went to sucker punch me after school and I gave him a black eye. I told him "this Nerd just kicked your ass". No one bothered me after that. NERD AND PROUD!

"Hey, take it easy. The computer's your friend." "I wasn't meant to interface with a machine." "Well, you're just beginning. Relax." "It's no use. It's inhuman." "It's not inhuman. Only humans can be inhuman." "Here, let me show you. Working with a computer's great. I mean its, uhh, its godlike, in a way, cause you can, uhh, have complete control." "That's good." "Thanks." "You know, some people, they can create with their hands. But when you're working with a computer, you got to build something with your mind. If you're good, you can do something no one ever seen before. It's a definite high." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Andrew Cassese Magic Engineering Fact: The drug during the tricycle race is fictitious. So is the drill silencer. Location Location Fact: The University of Arizona agreed to let the company shoot at the campus, then revoked permission after reading the script. Eventually the school changed its mind and let them shoot. The Rest Of The Story Fact: Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity depicted in the film, was fictional. However it would end up becoming the name of a fraternity in real life, founded at the University of Connecticut in 2006. What Script Fact: Robert Carradine says that he and Anthony Edwards largely improvised their speeches during the homecoming scene. Curtis Armstrong's bizarre interaction with a reclusive homeowner through a mail slot was improvised. Method Actor Fact: Robert Carradine moved to the University of Arizona two weeks before shooting to get into character as Lewis Skolnick. He brought only his "nerd" clothes to wear. He couldn't bring himself to leave his hotel room for three days. Poindexter's glasses are so thick that Timothy Busfield could not see through them. In scenes where he moves, he is usually guided by a companion. Nerd Laugh Fact: Robert Carradine says that when he read the script, Lewis' laugh was described as a "goose honk" he was not sure how to do it. However, by chance the first scenes shot were of his father dropping Lewis and Gilbert off at college. When James Cromwell did the laugh, Carradine mimicked it. James Cromwell has said that when he came up with the nerd laugh, after the other actors imitated it, he later realized - while driving home from the studio on the first day of production - it was his ex-wife's laugh.

One of my favorites because I, like almost all of my actual friends, am a secret nerd. I was spared all of that because my college experience was at a commuter school. But there were definitely those social groups and dynamics in high school. I was a blend of nerd and jock being in Junior ROTC. I had guys from 3 different street gangs on my side, but I was definitely a nerd first. I never let anyone know how much of an influence Captain Picard was on how I lead my unit in school. In college, I was accepted in Delta Phi Alpha. Really sets in the nerd if you look up what that is.

I never found out what the 188 proof Fireball was. When I was in high school in the 80s I drank Everclear which was 95% alcohol (190 proof). Sometimes mixed with lemonade, sometimes shots, sometimes flaming shots and sometimes straight out of the bottle. I also invented 2 shots with it. One was, fill a shot glass 1/2 way with Everclear and the other half with Jack Daniel's. The Jack smoothed out the intense burn of the Everclear and the Everclear gave the Jack an extra kick. The other shot was a 32 Oz glass of lemonade with 3 shots of Everclear. Another glass with an almost even mix of vodka and Roses. Then pour into a shot glass. Lemony flavored goodness that will kick your ass.

Yeah, the bullying sucked, and I never had a date in high school, but I was me rather than trying to be someone else that the popular people would like. I was born in the mid 80s and grew up in the 90s. Even though I would have been considered a Nerd and would call myself that, my hight & build pretty much kept me from being physically bullied having been jumped by 3 kids in the 7th grade instead of asking my older cousins for help I made them watch me teach an important lesson on why I'm not to be F withed; never F with someone who grew up playing full contact football, no protection with a brother 7 yrs older than me & my older cousins and their friends. I remember my first week of high school my sister who just graduated asked her friends who were seniors that year to "keep an eye out for me " without me asking only for them to take one look at me a 6ft freshman. At the end of that week she told me what she asked her friends to do & there response that was " no body was going to F with him". Physically people knew they didn't want me as a problem; I was never someone who liked to fight. My parents always told me & my siblings growing up that if we ever started a fight we would not like the punishment but if someone else starts it "finish it" without fear or repercussions. As for verbal abuse let's just say for an introvert people found another reason why one of my nicknames Venom.

What the actor playing Ogre did before appearing in movies: Raised in California, Gibb attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. Upon graduation he went to the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship,[1] where he joined Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He then transferred to University of San Diego to play football. Don Gibb played football for the University of San Diego on scholarship. Gibb played briefly for the San Diego Chargers before suffering an injury in an automobile accident, which led him to turn to acting. From his Wikipedia page...

But I wasn't picked on by the jocks/athletes. However, there was this other kid who was also absolutely a nerd and he picked on me ruthlessly. And I was stood up for by a few of the jocks. I guess that's why I grew up thinking it didn't matter if you were nerd or jock, either one could be a good or bad, it depended not on what you were, but who you were inside.

He has played Elliot Weston on the television series thirtysomething; Mark, the brother-in-law of Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) in Field of Dreams; and Danny Concannon on the television series The West Wing. In 1991 he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for thirtysomething. He is also the founder of the 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization Theatre for Children, Inc. In 2024 he was inducted into the Sacramento Baseball Hall of Fame as a pitcher. This is the best reaction to "Revenge of the Nerds" that I've seen. There are sequels to this film; Lewis and Betty end up getting married and live happily ever after in future films, so Betty really did fall in love with Lewis. The two sequences you mentioned (panty raid and rape scene) are very cringy today, but the overall message to accept people for who they are is still timeless.

High School USA with Michael J Fox, Crispin Glover, Bob Denver (Gilligan) amongst others. He’s also costarred in John Cusack college-age hit The Sure Thing (recommend, it’s good Cusackian stuff) And starred in his most adult-script college kid movie, Gotcha! Pointdexter is in tonnes of good movies too like Sneakers and Field Of Dreams.

Hey Tara, I also got bullied in school...maybe not as much as you but I get it. I also had to learn to fight back and as an adult, I worked in an institutional setting where I had to know how to deal with physical maladaptive behaviors so know now how to counter that so I'm not afraid anymore. I have dealt with 6'6" 350 lb. men so I may lose but I will go down fighting!

"She let 'im hit that box!" Um, best quote ever. I'll die on that hill. I love Tara's reactions. Her and Dawn Marie are the only women reactors that can mostly laugh at the...let's say "problematic" humor from this era. And hearing that she was picked on and beat up...and then learned to fight back, dammit that choked me up. Tara, you're my hero. ❤‍🩹

Well just to kind of give you a visual… at 4 I was probably only 30 lbs (very small and petite) and according to mom, bloodied the nose of a 10 year old boy that kept pushing me off my big wheel. The boy along with his dad came to the door to talk about what her kid did to his son. Mom says she called me over and said “this is the child that busted his nose” and told him why I did it. Apparently the boy got a spanking the whole way home back to their apartment on the opposite end of the complex and I didn’t get into trouble at all. So by the time kindergarten rolled around I wasn’t much bigger, but trapped on the school bus every morning and afternoon with all of the bigger kids that saw me as an easy target until the day I snapped in 7th grade. Since then I have a zero tolerance for bullying

@@ItsTaraAnn THAT is an awesome story, it filled my heart with great satisfaction. Thank you for sharing that with me. I was exactly the same, very short, very skinny, nerdy glasses, the whole nine yards. One day in high school, this kid that everybody else picked on, decided to pick on me. Long story short, I fought him in the hallway during passing period in front of a packed mob of students cheering me on. I felt 10 feet tall after that and never let someone bully me again. Like yourself, I have zero tolerance for bullying. I hate bullies. I absolutely loathe them and will stand up to them until my dying day.
