@maxdragon15 typically all of the Farmmac branded saws are the end versions. They typically have better performance parts as in the carb ignitions and a few other parts that normally would be Chinese clone parts, they will use some actual oem parts and such. That is the extent that I know about them. Ric

I recently sold this saw and a plank mill with it. I had a fella that needed to mill a fair amount of wood and rather than let him borrow it for an extended period of time, he just decided to make me an offer on it. Saw still runs great and is still in great condition. Gonna miss it as the ergonomics on that saw work really well for my stature. I’m pretty sure he is going to mod the saw but that’s fine as it is his now. I can’t complain about these saws blue or orange, for people that need an alternative they sure do fit the bill well. Just got mine from Amazon the other day....WHAT A ......BEAST. ONCE I figured out how to start it. I actually have to kneel over top of it and pull start mine.. with a 1 by 3 piece off wood to hold the handle down. If you all can visualize that. It LOVES THE PRE MIX 50 : 1 TRU FUEL. I AM REALLY IMPRESSED. I do have a 24 inch bat on mine. I will say this. The bar oil cap did not shut and lock down. No Biggy. I just happen to have some stihl saws that use the same bar oil cap. Plus I went and orderd some more caps and I did go ahead and buy another chain too...

That's awesome! Funny the oil cap on ours acts the same way. I have found that one of the pieces on the floating ring seems a little loose and working with it it will work but takes patience. I have several 70+cc saws and wondered if we just received a really tight tolerance unit. I suppose it just goes to show that Neo-tec is really stepping up the power/quality wars! We are running 40:1 in ours now but I'll mix some 50:1 and let it rip! We have ran 24 and 28 inch bars maybe one day we will put a 36 inch on it and see how much torque it has? Glad you are enjoying it, please let us know how it works for you! All the best! Thanks for commenting 👍 and subscribing! Ric

Yeah, that will be a great saw for milling. I have used ours for stumps mostly, one time I did put a long bar on it just to round out a tree not bending over. I don't recommend that, unless you are more prepared than me! That was a little much holding and operating such a large unit cutting every 18 inches. I was pretty tore up after that! They are great for the price, and though not equal(but close) on performance or even quality, they are great options for folks who need the power and size saw. If the break or blow up you can still repair them for less than what you would have in the oem brands. We have ran these Neo-tec saws for about a year and a half now. We haven't had any major issues with any of them, but also they are well cared for and all still stock with no modifications. We have had little issues with a bolt here or there, one had an air filter issue but really that's about it. Worth the cost and will likely last linger than I will ever need. That's my 2 cents. Thanks for commenting! Ric

The breather lets air in, as the fuel is used, it creates a vacuum and it draws air in but wont let fuel out. The sprung flap on filter is the choke. One flick up on control is actually little more than half throttle lock

I've milled with smaller 50cc saws before and they just consume to much fuel and take wayyyyy to long. The 872 will be a great milling saw for sure. Consider using and auxiliary oiler if your cut time exceeds 3 minutes, that is a safe bet. Enjoy your milling and saw, thanks for commenting and subscribing! Ric

@@CornucopiaFarmstead Just to give you a six month update...I have milled hundreds of feet of maple, walnut, ash, and hackberry now with the NS872. Still going strong. I also bought a 36" bar and chain for milling, which I know is sold for a bigger saw, but I'll tell you what, this saw had no problem pulling that big bar through a 30" diameter maple log. I still haven't made an auxiliary oiler, but I'll probably do that this summer. Thanks again for the review. I'm very happy with it.

I ordered that neotec 872 last Wednesday. The powerhead came in Saturday morning. The bar came in today April 4th. Well when I pulled the side cover off. The bar tensioner didn't work very well. It was missing a screw. Had to go to the hardware store. I put some good Grease on the bar adjuster. It doesn't work very well. I'm going to order a OEM bar adjuster from steel. It started up on the third pull. I also pulled the clutch apart. Put some grease on the needle bearing.

  • @CornucopiaFarmstead

    @CornucopiaFarmstead

    Жыл бұрын

Yes sir, 038/380 is a great saw. It is a popular older model to clone for sure. This was Neo-tec's first clone I believe for mass. They produce parts for repair then started making full saws much like FT. As for this one I can't say for the other makers of the same model but can say compared to many equivalent saws it isn't bad at all. This is the first gen 380 from Neo-tec and also the lowest in response or power compared to the newer gen saws from them of the same model. I personally have never had a problem with it while it was used heavily for a year. They came out with a new line called Farmmac with a higher end or performance version of the same model. It is substantially better in all categories though, I would say it is much improved which leads to the higher performance while only just a touch more in cost. As for the Firestarter we do the same thing, pine or cedar works best for us and is kept dry. We pull dust and chips off our saw mill too and is used for garden and fire aid too. Carbon is a good thing if used appropriately! Thanks for commenting! Ric

I'll have mine Monday. The comparable Echo costs $1000. I have a stump from a 50' Camphor tree and it's massive. If this helps get this cut down enough to pull the rest out of the ground it will be well worth it. Camphor trees have a massive shallow root system which can damage property and plumbing. It is an invasive species which will crowd out other trees and vegetation.

I love the 372’s with the 52mm and I add the Hyway 52mm popup piston topend and make them 76.4cc’s …closer to the Stihl ms460’s… That’s a great looking saw… I just really prefer the design simplicity of the husky 372’s with the bigger 52 topend with the popup they are ripper’s… pull the 28” bar with the straight ripper mod!!! It’ll pull a 36 with skipper chain!!! I really appreciate that you tear into it!!! I think I might get one to try.,, I need to check it’s price???

I just had to order a NEO-TEC NS8105 42 inch Gas ChainSaw because of Hurricane Ian. There was no way possible I was going to pay $1500 + for a Stihl. I own a 16" Stihl but had a Goliath live oak that a tornado brought down during Hurricane Ian. The 16" Stihl just would not be able do the job at the trunk. Plus I now have free lumber, be stupid not to buy a chainsaw mill for a littler over a $100 and cut my own oak lumbar such as 2 x 4 or 2 x 6... Whenever I say Goliath live oak I mean just that it's huge. Mine was delivered today so hopefully it does the job. Thank you for the review.

I can't say a word that would describe how fortunate you are and we just hold on to hope that others are as fortunate as you. I'm glad this helps in the recovery and it is a case such as this where you are 100%right, $1500 is alot of money just for a saw, but clone saws fill the gap and that is all the difference in the world. The 8105 is a great saw, just keep oil and fuel in it, then all you need is wood chips! Best of luck to your recovery and thanks for commenting! Ric and Mel

The fit and finish is very surprising on both the 872 and the 841. We have several of the blue saws and I can honestly say they have been great saws with very few issues at all. Receiving these saws has been better than delivery of the blue saws for sure, that is the second biggest difference. The retail packing is much better with Neo-tec for sure and that helps. We will be developing both of these saws and have a few other pieces coming down the pipeline. If the rest of there equipment is as close or better than this? It is a great running little saw for sure. I have used it almost exclusively for felling almost 8 months now. In the beginning I used it and the Ns892 but leaned more toward the Ns872 as it was easier to throw around compared to the 892. Other things you can consider are the consumables. But if you prefer the consider the power then that is another new ball of wax. Having said all of this they have came out with a new line which they consider a pro series called FarmMac. They do have improved components which improve performance and some other little details with a slight increase in price. We have made a vid with 2 of the saws I will share the link here kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6qFmsyceLDQhtY.html And then the other 2 saw which are the F372 and F380 will be coming out soon. @CornucopiaFarmstead

Hey Todd. Thanks for the kind words and question(s). First let me say thank you for serving and thank you for your service. I’m and army brat as my father and grandfather, along with several other elders in the family have served in the military. I appreciate all that who have served and will serve, there is no greater good one can do for country than to serve and protect it. I have never served but have assisted in various forms of training for entities over the years and have been more than happy to do so. As for your question with the saw I would direct you to the Stihl oem manual which you should be able to download off the web. The 872 is a clone of the ms380 saw, all the parts from stihl oem ms380 will work on this saw, albeit they will be substantially more cost than the Neotec parts of which they do offer parts on the website. Our 872 is over 2 years old and is used very often and hasn’t had a freshen yet. I have found high quality 2 stroke oil is largely the best thing you can do to maintain performance other than routine maintenance cleaning after use. I will say when we use equipment most of the bolts are loctited with blue or red loctite, bars chains drive sprockets filters air passages levers triggers pull cord coil, flywheel plug and ignition are cleaned and double checked before and after each use. It is about 1 hour per saw each day just for me to do that. None of our equipment is modified for performance other than adjusting oil mix from either small cc to large cc and from summer use to winter use, this is the only time the oil mix is changed. We have used vp racing synthetic 2 stroke oil for many years and it has never let us down. Used In the power equipment and the dirt bikes, never had a failure. I hope this helps! Love it! The comment that is, I have some great older saws too that also run well compared to newer saws. In this vid it was running on heavy oil fuel for break in. I ran it for I think 3 tanks but I don't remember exactly how many then switched it to 40 to 1 fuel and leaned it out from there. It does run much higher and quicker now and is used primarily along side the 892 Neo-tec too. For felling and bucking I use the 872 and 892. When they are new as you could see In this vid it was rich the entire time as this was the first time it was ran and exactly how it came out of the box. Many folks have asked to run them straight out of the box and that's what we did with this and many others. Even full rich it has loads of torque as you see from the vid and yes ran slow(because it was on 25/1)). Does it run better and faster now absolutely, was it inhibited before, if you know about fuel mixture then you understand what I am talking about. But yes it ran well then and runs harder and faster now. I do believe they are built well and for someone who has price concerns but also needs performance it is a great option. We just have started using the Neo-tec ns843 which is a copy of the husky 543xp, it runs very well and is a great ground and trim saw. We have been using it for a couple of weeks now both here and at work and is a surprising saw at a very good price compared to other options. Anyway I hope this helps clear the air, we aren't married to any brand but just look for better options value and performance for our and others needs. Shut it off let it cool down completely. I had some 24-in rounds they had to have 10 inches cut off of them. Then I noodle in half. I had to set the high idle on it. And the low idle. @CornucopiaFarmstead

    Жыл бұрын

Hey there! Getting through a tree is definitely the most important thing. You can cut anything down with an edge but a saw sure does make it quicker and safer. On trees 30 inches or greater I'll use a 28 inch or sometimes 32,36 for trees up to 46 inch tree which is the largest I have felled. Cutting fast and efficiently for me is where it is at. I like the 92cc saws for big trees and have used the 070 clone for a couple large trees too. We did a vid with the Farmmac f070 which is the upgraded version of the 8105. It has some of the same parts stihl used on the oem 070. I can't say anything about the 8105 simply because I haven't ran one. But the f070 we have is a jewel for sure. I get tickled every time I run it as it just effortlessly cuts and runs! We have a couple long bars for it and I have used the 42 incher buried completely and it didn't slow it down much. This something you can't do unless your making power and torque. The only problem I have with it is the weight. I'm not a big guy and when you put a 42 inch bar on that saw fill I with juice and lube, it's pretty heavy! As for the money, it helps they are affordable. I know people give the clone saws a hard time but not everyone can afford the high end equipment, I know I can't! I hope this helps, I apologize for the delay life illness and weather! Having said that certain bars are for certain users which is just how it is here. I like the stainless bars and prefer a well built bar v/s a laminated low cost bar which doesn't last very long. Your going in the right direction with the oiler port, I did the same thing with ours. They have a nice drilled slot for the port but I believe it is just a little small and also this makes it easy to clog. I drilled the port to 1/8 inch and was fairly difficult but effective. The standard port is right at 1/16. I believe you have the right idea bud, that stainless is tuff to drill through. As for the carbide ,I have never used carbide tipped teeth for 2 reasons. 1 cost and 2 cost of resharpening. Luckily I have rolls of chain and trees full of nails so I am often just replacing chains, it's almost normal to have to replace a chain every other month unfortunately! One of these days I'll pull the plug and try a carbide tipped chain, I was actually wanting to try a diamond chain on one of these saws for concrete which I know they aren't designed for and would require some fabrication, I really just want to see if these are tough enough to do some "lite" concrete work!

To my knowledge and conversations with Neo-tec they have no relationship with farmertec. They like several other small equipment manufacturers are parts sellers/kit sellers and now selling complete units. Neo-tec has 4 saws currently 41cc, 72cc, 92cc and 105cc. They have several other units coming down the pipeline. As for the smaller saws the 841 we have been testing is the first sub 50cc saw we have acquired in a long time. We typically only use smaller saws for limbing or in tree work(which we use an echo top handle). At first use the saw isn't bad and the quality/fit and finish is very nice. Before each use all of our equipment is given a nice once over then again once put away.Unless the unit starts to run erratically it won't get tore down and will only have loops oil and fuel put on it. Overall everything is going nicely so far and we hope to keep it that way. If. Or when we have a failure we will share that for the simple fact we aren't paid for any of these videos but rather share these experiences for everyone's own benefit for experience and personal considerations. Thanks for commenting 👍 and subscribing!

I am not sure what you are asking but I think you are asking if they make bigger saws for milling? If that is the case they have basically 3 larger saws right now. They have the F660v and the ns892 which are ms660 stihl clones, they also have the f070 and the ns070 which are the ms070 clones, one saw they have recently came out with is the f660bv which is a big bore 660 clone that is 99cc rather than the standard 92cc which is what a 660 is. I haven't ran the newest saw(f660bv) but have the 070 and the 660 clones. They all run well and would mill logs just fine. The 070 runs at a lower rpm and has more torque down low compared to the 660 clone which actually makes about .5 hp more but you turn much more rpms compared to the 070 clone. I hope this answers your questions, thanks for commenting, Ric

Sorry for the delay there! Hard to keep up from time to time. This was the first Neo-tec saw we ran and does have the most running hours of the Neo-tec and Farmmac. While it isn't used as often as it used to be it does get pulled out from time to time. I ran it for around 6 months really often and haven't had any issue with it since the beginning. I believe this is the first generation ns872 also. I know reading on Facebook and some comments on our channel I believe this saw is the one that has had the most trouble. People have said it is down on power, nuts or bolts being loose and chain not staying tight. I can't verify any of these simply because I don't have any of those in front of me. I can tell you about ours though. I would estimate it has around 40 to 45 hours of use. It has used 3 complete chains, meaning they have been sharpened to end of use. I honestly did not expect it to perform the way it did, much like the FT saws, the clone saws are a great value but also sometimes can be a luck of the draw too. Knock on wood ours haven't had any major issues , including this saw. I think the 70cc saws are great simply because they are great all around. They are fast for felling but also great for bucking. Compared to the larger cc saws they are much easier to handle for long days holding and cutting. The ergonomics of the 70cc saws are only slightly larger compared to the 50cc saws. I believe they are a great compromise if you just want to run one saw. We have many many saws so we cycle the saws out many times. One thing to note is that on all of the equipment we use it is all maintained very well but also cleaned and prepped for use after each day. We don't modify any of our equipment and this helps for longevity too. Thanks for commenting, Ric.

  • @CornucopiaFarmstead

Unfortunately I don't think you can have a fair comparison between the 2 saws. The 572 is of the latest technology along with an auto tune carb/ignition, this 872 doesn't have the same tech. If you were to eliminate the differences I would still give the edge to the husky for the simple fact it is based on the old 372 saw which has lead the field for many decades. If price was no issue then I would hands down be 100% Husqvarna even over Stihl. But, price being an issue, I am going to Neo-tec, which is what we have done. As for it being made in China, that isn't an issues either. Most things many people use daily are from China and every nation in the world has problems we don't like talking about. Hope this helps. Yeah the 872 is a great running saw. I used ours for almost 2 years and just recently sold it to a fella who is going to use it for milling. Most folks get these for the exact reasons you mention plus for just one time storm clean up. At the end of the day they are very close, maybe within 75/80% of the oems depending on the actual head you get. We haven’t modded any of our saws but I have seen and ran many that have. Most folks alter the timing(flywheel) or they change the port timing numbers, install the oem ignition coil(probably the best and quickest for the most power). If you did all of these to the 372 clone you are still less than half the cost of the old 372 or even greater less than the new 572. I can tell you our 872 even when I sold it is a great running saw and rock solid reliable for us, not that they all will but still for the cost, it is hard to beat! As for comparison other than some older 600cc and less oem saws we don’t have the larger nor could afford them. It would be nice but just isn’t in the cards! All the best and drop a line when you run your new saw! Ric

I don't know that it is affiliated with tsumura but I can say the bars from Neo-tec are pretty impressive as far as I'm concerned. They aren't laminated but appear to be machined stainless steel. The 24 inch bar I noticed and thought maybe it was because it being a mid range bar. Then received the 16 for the 41cc saw, it was the same. They might be heavy for some people's tastes but when it comes down to robustness and corrosion resistance at an economical price, that's a big deal especially when you look at being milled. Farmertec has stainless bars and they are good, we have several from 20 to 42 inches, they are good. I haven't been able to buy a replacement tip yet and the design unfortunately no one has a tip similar. The bar is laminated, no big deal really as long as you pay attention of course, but between the 2 I like the Neo-tec bar better. Anyway I'm working on a 30 minute comment here! Lol I'll mention the bar to our colleague at Neo-tec and have a solid answer. Ric

From what I understand is the 380/381 followed the 038 magnum in being high compression and high torque saws. Not as fast chain speed but alot of grunt. The 038 Magnum was a 72 CC saw
