NEOM The Line Dream City Of Saudi Arabia Exhibition In Riyadh | Neom City Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, November 01, 2022 - NEOM, the revolutionary land of the future taking shape in northwestern Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of THE LINE Experience, the third edition of the exhibition that will showcase NEOM’s futuristic city’s innovative urban designs in the Kingdom’s capital.
Set to be hosted at the Diriyah Biennale Foundation for Contemporary Art at Diriyah’s JAX district, the exhibition will welcome guests over a period of six months between November 6, 2022 and April 29, 2023.
This unique edition of THE LINE designs exhibition will offer a far more enriching and engaging experience that takes visitors on an unparalleled journey, enabling them to learn first-hand about the urban planning and architectural features that will redefine livability in THE LINE, as well as receive an in-depth view of NEOM’s sectors and its surrounding natural landscapes where people and technology will come together in harmony with nature.
The exhibition will be open from Sunday to Wednesday: 9:00 am to 11:00 pm; Thursday and Saturday: 9:00 am to 12:00 midnight and Friday: 3:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. Attendees have the option to avail guided tours that will be delivered in both Arabic and English to allow them to explore THE LINE’s spectacular designs in detail. Unlike traditional cities, THE LINE will run on 100% renewable energy and prioritize health and well-being over transportation and infrastructure. The designs provide the most important characteristics of the city, which is 200 meters wide, 170 kilometers long and rises 500 meters above sea level. Covering an area of 34 square kilometers, THE LINE’s small footprint will contribute to conserving 95% of NEOM’s land and supporting environmental sustainability. The linear city will ultimately be home to nine million residents.
THE LINE design is based on a new concept of ‘Zero Gravity Urbanism’ which is the idea of layering city functions vertically while enabling inhabitants to move seamlessly in the city in three directions - up, down and across. This concept facilitates mobility throughout the city, offering quick access to offices, schools, parks and residential facilities. THE LINE’s unique modular design ensures that all facilities and amenities can be accessed within a five-minute walk.
THE LINE Experience introduces the citizens and visitors like never before to the concept of THE LINE and the project’s unprecedented designs, which were first announced by His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors, in July earlier this year.

This project would need at least 1.5 billion tons of concrete, generating at least 1 billion tons of CO2. That's 3 times as much CO2 as entire France during 3 years. So much for "saving the planet" or something. The energy quantity to provide 9 million people with 5 m3 of clean desalinized water is anywhere betwen 400GWh and 800GWh. This also doesn't count the energy required for climatization under a scorching sun. It would also destroy the fragile desertic ecosystem, by cutting animals territory. The mirrors would kill millions of birds every year, and make life completely impossible by heating the soild to deadly temperatures in a band of over hundreds of meters around the walls. The walls would have to sustain the sand stroms and the sand would accumulate. It's likely that there would be some very strong winds tunneling between the two walls (like in NYC, just far worse). The logistics are lunatics. The underground train would have to run at 510 km/h to do the 170 km in 20mn, which doesn't exist (in open air, a couple of records, not in tunnels), and that's without any stop, but a train that doesn't stop is useless, so we already know this number is complete BS. Good luck getting rid of sewage in a linear city as well, will they need to be transported by truck to the nearest treatment station ? The cost of the project is severely underestimated and $500BN is nowhere near the real cost which would be several trillions $. But it doesn't really matter, because who wants to live in this ? If you are super rich you'll live near the sun, while if you are poor, you will almost never see the sun, you will be at the very bottom of this dystopian project. Your only way out will be the east end, which may very well be blocked if the government says so. The government will also be in control of your water, electricity, and basically your liberty. So it's a giant open air prison. And just to see the outside, you will have to take the elevator to go to the top. But will you have the right to go to the top ? Will it be privatized by the billionnaires ? Noone knows, but the entire project allows that. In a normal city, anyone can leave, not here. A city of 9 million people needs to have relations with the rest of the world if it is to be sustainable economically. Here it will have to be almost completely self sustainable. The only example in the world we have is North Korea and we know how well it's going. Long story short : this project is complete bullshit. Saudi Arabia shoud spend their money on creating gardens and improving their existing cities, and spending it in research instead of insane vanity projects.

amazing, there are still humans with processing brains like you alive. lol.... i almost cried reading the comments. i calculated 300m length of this project construction cost...price hit the 1 trillion and thats based on todays mega projects per m2. i cant even tell you as an architect designer how much it would cost time and more money to solve structural design problems here... to imagine the construction process you will need AI .... lol . yes its possible as (nothing is impossible mike tyson lol ) but its impossible to even finish 1/4 of the city in 10 years. take for example the mekkah mousque expantion (the largest amount of concrete used in human history) it was a design and build with open cost. it took 10 years to finish. and its only a mousque not a city
