Will ''The Line'' Be a Place to Live in the Future?
Ғылым және технология
The Line will be part of Saudi Arabia's new city NEOM project, designed to increase the country's revenues and run entirely on renewable energy. The Saudi Arabian government has set up an entire zone for the NEOM developments in Tabuk.
The Line city is planned to be built in a linear structure with a length of 170 km. The width of the city will be 200 meters, and the height will reach 500 meters. The Line city will be built in a mirrored structure that stretches along the coast and reaches the deserts. When the city is completed, it will be able to accommodate a population of 9 million people.

No thanks. I can't think of anything more hideous than living in an overcrowded tube in the desert.
this enginnering wonder is just some renders and animations

It's a conceptual wonder, but it does not include the most important and destructive variable, people.
I can see the line descending to a dystopian slum, reliant on a class system. It'll even have the motto "Work and loyalty brings prosperity and class" Also building something like that in an unstable region?

Or something more simple ... Work makes free
Isn’t a circle better?
How will police, ambulances, and firefighters respond to incidents via public transportation? Is there going to be a separate line for them or something?

Probably
Let’s make this idea actually of value 1) dig a canal along the route that HUGE ships can sale on 2) dig harbors along the route 3) put nuclear power plants on the shore of each harbor 4) use to nuclear power plants to desalinate and purify the canal water 5) pipe the water north and south of the canal 6) built cities along the pipelines 7) use the excess water from the pipeline TO GREEN UP THE NATION.

While I do not know if your ideas are valid they are significantly more valid than this line City idea

@@niyonmor786 As an Engineer I can tell you this idea is SCIENTIFICALLY possible (nothing needs to be developed) but I have no idea as to the COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS. Again it can technically be done, we know how, but how much it would cost and if the value to SA is there over the long term, who knows.
It might be an engineering marvel, but not for people. We should make existing cities more sustainable & liveable & beautiful & compact & inclusive & integrated & safe for all. And it is being done all around the world, even in developing countries. Did you notice that the rich will live in beautiful houses along the coast in a beautiful natural setting while everyone else will live in an "invisible" box behind walls in the desert? This is not a sustainable city of the future, it's a prison... a war on the middle & low income classes! Not seen, not heard. Working 24 / 7 out of sight for the benefit of the oligarchy.
You should have analysed if its gonna work or not ...not re tell its story!!
Love the new edits👍
Tube cities, mega-skyscraper cities, or whatever, There's no time. - ¡¡ TIME IS OVER !! -.
Welcome to ghost city 😂😂😂..... On the top who will supply water ? Drainage system and did they consider dust storms ? , Temperature variations at day and nyt ? What if oceans rise ? And climate change factor ....i hope they learn from their mistakes
Why are people in the comments so pessimistic? Like let them try lol ☠️

It won’t get past engineering. It’s like a math problem bud. A trill is only a thousand billion. And a billion only goes so far in materials and construction.

@@colez1597 they started construction 6 months ago, I live in in Tabouk... they are allll optimistic and already have everything planned out and expect it to finish in a couple decades but phase 1 will be in 2030
Nice content heheh
Just my suggestion: Should build Line city without wall or forest wall if possible. That's more livable environment. Otherwise internal and external environment going to be extreme that leads to something really bad.
Wouldn’t it be smarter to make the line a circle?

First thing I think of is how the inside of that ring will basically be a volcano from all the reflected heat So in other words evil mastermind fortress

@@niyonmor786 I was thinking about it, I think the main advantage is the faster transport, if it takes 20 minutes to go from one side to the other, my thought was, if it were wrapped in a ring the longest journey would be 10 minutes, presuming you wanted to get from one side of the ring to the other. However I didn’t think it through. I didn’t account for the fact that the train or tram system can go much faster on a straight track then a curved track. A curved track you have to deal with the centrifugal forces, People can handle a lot more g’s if all the acceleration is doing is pushing them into their seat, opposed to pushing them into the wall of the train. Although I will say, that there are ways of dealing with that problem but those solutions are a little wacky to say the least.

Looks like the city of judge dredd
Looks like living in a vertical box
I dunno but I wouldn’t want to live here
The temperature there is not 55, but much lower, mostly 31 in the summer, but in the winter it is cold and there is snow, and for your information, not all of Saudi Arabia is a hot desert.

No it won't
Physics. You have to take physics into account before any of this will be viable. Even if this works it will be slums on the lower decks and the upper decks just for the rich.
but why tho?
wow this vertical city is only 200 meters wide

Cant we just focus on the Freedom Ship. such a better waste of money
If you make a simply cost calculation, you will quickly see, that even $1,000,000,000,000 will not be enough for a building of that size. You will also notice that such a city would need far more tunnels than shown in the plans. The city will never get built. That is the sad truth.
Where would 9 million people waste water go? Better yet where would the water come from? What happens if a storm hits. What if someone really ugly looks at the mirror and breaks it?
They good at make up something looks like dream, but they will never get reality. You can seen it in the island 😅

LOL LOL LOL ... what is the interest of going from one end to the other in 20 minutes as population is distributed along the distance and so the train never stop where you need to go ?? Completely stupid ...

This is _just_ beautiful. This 1D city can just stay on a single plane all while we live arguably better lives than ever in the suburbs. And then you have the other previews. Yep, we finally have a “first look” of sorts at real life humans’ idea of the future, quite unique from those on the silver screen. Also, that’s what I’d really salute about Interesting Engineering: they’re not at all afraid to take unreasonable (and _definitely_ flawed) criticism to the face if that means getting the future out to everyone who deserves it. Hats off to them!! Next stop, the vertical city! Now, all we need is the raw materials for a mile-high building… 😅
No one would live in that desert

Glad I won’t be around to see this. If there are going to be more robots than humans then let the robots live there. Btw if you need help building this wall just ask Donald Trump hah
This is disgusting. That's what this is. Humans are not rats or cockroaches, this is not even appropriate for rats and cockroaches. This is not appropriate for any living beings.
Have you considered covering engineering rather than heavily debunked nonsense from a group known for nonsense ?
