Excellent video . Please Send it to neoden as while I have found their machines to be excellent value for money . Tutorials like this are few . Any comments on reflow would be great . My reflow oven from China had hotspots which resulted in many boards burning and bubbling in some areas and not reflowing in others.

Hi guys. Thanks for this great video. I have just purchased two Neoden4 machines and I found very little useful tutorials on how to get started. That is - until I found this video. Now things are much clearer to me. I have one request - can you please upload somewhere (so I can download it) the pick'n'place file that you have used in this video (when setting up the components list). It will be very useful to see the exact format of the file, which column should have which information contained in it etc. . I am using Altium Designer and I will need to modify the pick'n'place file manually once I export it so it would be recognised by the Neoden4. Also, a more detailed explanation on how to set up panelized board in Neoden4 would be very helpful. Once again, thanks for this great video. I believe a lot of people who get this machine will find it very helpful. Regards, Phuc

Hey guys, its awesome to see such a comprehensive video put together for this machine. My university is currently looking into purchasing a Neoden 4, but we are doing some research first to ensure it fits our needs. After aligning all of your components, you then set up each of your feeders. Suppose you were to be printing multiple boards, each with the exact same components but with different board designs (such as if a whole class of students designed their own versions of the same circuit). Would it be possible to keep the feeder settings while only changing the CSV/component alignment for each new board design? Or do the feeders have to be set up each time?

  • @wavedistributionusa

The feeder settings are part of each program. So if you copy a program and load a new component list in, you have the feeder’s all set up.

Hi, We just purchased a NeoDen4 which arrived on Monday. I have been setting the machine up and initially it worked well, but we have started to notice some errors in its operation. All the problems are with the head operation. 1) Sometimes the downwards facing camera takes a “black” photo (i.e. no image). 2) Sometimes the pick nozzle does not respond. It sometimes is held down and can only be released by turning off the machine. Other times, it does not drop down even when using the manual test mode. 3) Sometimes the downward facing camera flash does not turn off. The flash remains on continually. The other parts of the machine (feeders, peelers, XY movement, rail control, upwards facing camera) all work without issue. Any ideas? It feels like a software/driver bug because sometimes the test buttons in the “manual test“ tab work then just randomly stop working. Phil

@@magnusotsa6618 The board was taken out of the machine after the very first time a program was run. As with all of these programs and machines, tweaks need to be made to ensure that all of the components are perfectly configured. If we had wanted to for the public, it would’ve been easy to photograph a perfect board that was produced after a few iterations of quality control. Our goal was to give customers an honest impression of the process of programming the machine. Normally, when a board comes out of the machine, one does not hold it up vertically for a camera, which can allow parts to move and fall off. But we did that here. Considering that the video is unretouched, and that this is the first board that machine ever made with the first program it ever received, these results are excellent.

If you inadvertently do it, e-mail support for the password - problem solved. No-one is disputing that it's a great machine, it's just that it's very intuitive that it'd have a setting that forces you to contact support to undo, especially one that's so prominent. Why not just let you change it back with a similar "English" button? The only thing I can think of is that maybe it costs extra to have an English version? Seems a silly way to solve region-locking though.

Just placed an order for one of these and this video has made me regret that choice. The setup seems to be overly fiddly - like, why is the feeder programmable but not the peeler - why didn't they use regular all in one feeders??! Can the feeders be renamed with a component part number or setup offline? Why the actual F is there a Chinese button if you can't reset the language without a password!!!!!!!! Thats just mental. You guys, Neoden US and EU need to be complaining about these 'features' or they will never be changed.

We gave a real world, honest depiction of the machine so that customers would be fully informed. In our video, we ran a board with a new setup for the first time. No PNP machine will produce perfect results without tweaking a new program. This is one reasons that contract manufacturers require a significant parts overhead. Feeders require more information to operate, because they have variable pitch. That’s why they are on a digital bus. Peelers are simpler, and therefore aren’t digitally controlled for cost reasons. Regular all in one feeders are more costly and add bulk to a machine. This machine is extremely compact and cost-effective. Feeders are named with their feeder number, and component names can be assigned in individual programs. There is no need to press the button to change the language, so that shouldn't be an issue for you. There are 100's of Neoden 4's in use throughout North America, producing boards successfully for design engineers, small and medium sized businesses, and even hobbyists. The Neoden 4 is rock solid, functional and affordable. We'd be happy to give you a one--one-one demo via Zoom or FaceTime, and answer any. questions you may have.

Stupid is as stupid does - don't accidentally press the large button! ;-) You *can* achieve great results right out of the box, like anything having to do with SMT production you have to tweak and adjust the CSV file exported from your CAD program, run a test board and then you're good to go. While you say you just placed an order for one, we do not show you in our system. We'd be happy to discuss this further, and answer any additional questions you may have.
