Great reaction. That 5th member is a guitarist SAKI. Her favourite band of all time is happen to be Japanese heavy metal legend Seikima-II, a band that also use face makeup. The face makeup SAKI applied in KISS cover is the blend overlap of both Seikima-II guitarists, Luke Takamura and Jail O'Hashi. NEMOPHILA will be performing in Aftershock Festival 2022 in Sacramento US the same day as KISS. Another cool cover you might be interested in are AD/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie, Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil, Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild and probably Helloween - I Want Out. Their most brutal cover so far IMHO is X JAPAN - Kurenai. 🤘🏻

It's actually Ace Shimizu's makeup, but in black (his was red). She did wear Luke Takamura's makeup before, when she was in a Seikima-II cover band years ago, and she also wore Ace's around the same time in another group.

As for covers, most reactors overlook their Japanese band covers. But when they do listen they tend to enjoy them very much. Their cover of X Japan’s Kurenai is very good, insane drumming throughout. They did a cover of Rosier, by Luna Sea, that shows a different side of Mayu’s voice. It is a warmer tone than she normally uses. I know you weren’t a fan of Maximum the Hormone, but their covers of Shimi and Zetsubou Billy are actually very good. I think they tend to be more accessible to people that don’t even listen to the originals, plus you get to hear Tamu (drums) and Haraguchi-san (bass) sing.

I am definitely not a Maximum the Hormone fan. I would definitely fall into the category of "most reactors overlook their Japanese band covers". If I don't know the original, it takes the luster off of being a cover.

@@ProjectEllsworthReacts their most popular covers are the 2 Maximum the Hormone songs. I know you are not a fan but the covers are pretty great and are not “weird songs”. Of course fans also love the Banana Song and X-Japan song Kurenai.

This was the video that got me hooked on Nemophila. I didn't mind her not going for that high note because it is good to have at least one mayu scream in a Nemophila song. Another cover that I enjoyed very much is One Night Carnival, a song I had never heard before by a Japanese group I had never heard of. The song is catchy as hell and they are in maximum cute mode while performing it. You should also do a video of a live performance. A great one would be the song Oiran performed at the 2021 Naon no Yaon Festival. Due to covid, there is no crowd but they are performing for a live stream audience. You will also hear exactly how the band's name is pronounced when they are introduced. Both videos are on their KZread channel.

Come On, she could have hit the note easily, she's a girl, with an amazing range; It's guaranteed, that she has a better, "higher range", than Bruce.She clearly cchoose to do thee ground and she was distortinng thhe microphone deliberately as you could see. I've Seen Some Other Cover Bands scream that last note.They probably listened to a female cover off this. By the way,, Bruce they Cannot hit the nnotes live that he can in the studio, you will find that there are 2 or 3 ffemale led bands out there that always hit those notes, because it''s easier for them

The Nemophila lady's are a joy to watch. They make these covers look like a walk in the park. I may of mentioned before Mayu, the lead singer does not speak English, so she listens to the vocal track and does her best to reproduce what she hears. Tamu the drummer and Haraguchi-san the bass player live up to their nickname the smiling thunder. You can forgive the Nickleback T-shirt as Nemophila, have made a cover of the song 'Burn It To The Ground' by them. I mean, I never liked them, but I never liked Creed or Staind or any of the multitude of bands who all came out around the same time trying to sound like Pearl Jam. Not that I think Nickelback even tried to sound like Pearl Jam, but they were one of those bands who I just thought were boring stadium rockers of the kind that sell millions of albums for some reason. Generic rock band. But they're no worse than some of the other bands like that, and in fact they're better than most of 'em. I think it's just a meme to hate on Nickelback at this point, but Burn It To The Ground (which Nemophila covered) is a good song, and I've heard other good songs by them. There are plenty of worse bands out there.

Great reaction, great band, hope you check out some more of their original stuff (Revive, Oiran, Monsters, Sorai). Also fyi its pronounced knee-moe-phil-ah. Oh and the Kiss cover is probably the cutest cover ever, other covers they have you may not know the bands but are still great, they have 2 covers of Maximum The Hormone which are fantastic and a bunch of other great ones to other Japanese bands like Rottengraffty, Passcode etc. Subbed for more Nemophila!

That pronunciation is how I initially said it and got smashed over the head with the mispronunciation. I did 2 Maximum the Hormone songs and hated one and thought the second was alright until the ending. I don't care for them at all.

Try their X-Japan cover of Kurenai. Japanese legends. Gene Simmons said if X-Japan had been American they would have been the greatest band in the world. The drummer Murata tam goes off in that cover.

The blue flower is why their logo is blue in my thumbnails. That pronunciation that I used in my first reaction to them and I got smashed over the head for pronouncing their name wrong. Motherfuckers are ruthless.

They killed this. Their cover of Youth Gone Wild is really good too. Kurenai is my fave. It's a great song and is a total workout for Tamu the drummer. Watch the original first. Kurenai last live show. Yoshiki is power drummer supreme. The only cover I didn't care for was Bon Jovi. They look so bored. Of the originals, Oiran live at Naon Yaon is great. Revive, the punkish Fighter ( Tamu great drumming), Monsters (groovy rock) or the power ballad Life. All are top notch

I will also add my request for their cover of Linkin Park's song Given Up. It is pretty fucking awesome!!

Nemophilas 3 best covers in my opinion is AC DC Whole Lotta Rosie, Linkin Park Given Up and Babymetal Megitsune in Linkin Parks cover she does chester banningtons 17 second scream amazingly in that song please let me know what you think

Of course they put a lot into their covers. Other people's songs are not easy to learn, especially at the level of Iron Maiden. They may not take them too seriously, of course they put a lot into them. You don't learn guitar solos from other people without putting a lot into it. That shit takes a lot of time, and a human's most valuable asset is their time.
