Great video but I have to note that at 18:10 you don't actually trigger an encounter with a danger roll, you just fill up all the corridors with noise tokens, or if they are already tokens there - nothing happens!

Glad you enjoyed the video. You are 100 percent correct. Totally missed that in the playthrough. Yes danger only adds noise to all the corridors to that room or moves an intruder into the room if it is adjacent to the room. My first favorite aliens theme game is “Aliens” by leading edge games. It holds a special place in my heart it was my first solo coop game I ever owned and I played it so much I had to laminate the board it was falling apart. @@MeetMeAtTheTable I played Clean-up Crew with the scout. I've disabled 2 engines, repaired the Evacuation Section A, searched and repaired the Hatch Control Room to unlock the pods, and the Comms Room to send the signal. After running back all the way to the pods, through a burning ship with 3 heavy wounds, I finally came to the pods with 1 turn to go... Finally an event card triggered my pod to eject empty, just in front of me... 1 minute later the ship exploded... I was sooo close... I got the objective though. I've sent the signal and destroyed the ship. In hindsight it was best that I didn't survive as I turned out to be infected... :) I feel like I just lived through an "Intruder" movie. And just like the movies, it was extremely suspenseful until the last second. What a game! Any fans of this boardgame who are also into computergames really should play Alien Isolation too. Just like Nemesis, one of the most immersive games I've ever played.

But on the flip side, just when I thought I had no chance, things turned in my favor. Really makes you consider all your options while not making you feel completely hopeless. Amazing game.

30:20... I believe that unless your objective specifically says to go anywhere but Earth... getting to Earth, having 2+ working engines, and surviving are prerequisites in addition to your chosen objective to win.

Just bought the core game. It is such an interesting game. After the first playthrough with some friends I immediately want the expansions....unfortunately I wasn't involved with the kickstarter because well....I didn't know anything about this game.

That’s great I hope you get it soon. As for the action I can see where it can be confusing. Especially in a solo game. After preforming 2 actions I can choose to pass and move to the event phase or continue my turn by doing 2 more actions. If you decide to eve only do 1 action you have to pass and move to the event phase. I hope that makes sense. Since it is a solo game there are no other people to go next after the 2 actions. Way too late to the party and someone might have mentioned; at 18:00 when you rolled 'danger' on the noise die you shouldn't have put a second noise marker into the corridor (page 15 in rulebook); danger is surprisingly often a 'safe' roll to get as it definitely won't spawn an intruder (but does bring them too you if in adjacent rooms).

Hi there.. I just got the game and and this video really helped. Just one question/clarification.. I know you posted this a while back but here it goes.. at 18:40 you drew a larva token, but had enough cards to mitigate the warning number. Could you clarify how a larva would surprise attack if you would have had no cards left... thank you so much

Of course I will explain. So when you are surprised by the intruder due to not having enough cards to prevent the surprise an intruder draws an intruder attack card and resolves it. In the case of a larva you do not draw a card and instead place the larva mini on the character board. Also place a contamination card in that characters discard pile. Now if you ever place another larva token or are instructed to place one on your board and you have one already there that character dies. I would recommend finding the surgery room to remove the larva. I think of it like “Alien”. The initial larva is like the face hugger and if you get another one the larva bursts out your chest and you die. Hope this helps. Amazing video! one of the most informative videos i´ve seen about this game. One question, I thought that when you pass your turn, the players have to discard all of the remaining cards in their hands, howeveryou kept one card. Thank you for the great complement. I would be more than happy to explain that rule. So once everyone pass the last thing you do before moving to the event step is players can choose to discard as many cards from their hand that they want including contamination cards. This is important because the amount of cards you have will effect the surprise value of any intruders that appear. So it may not be wise to discard any cards, but of course if your looking for a card from you action deck the less cards you have the more you will be able to draw when that step comes up. @@MeetMeAtTheTable It seems that this is a mistake nearly every play through video makes at least once in their demos. 😁 So don't feel too ashamed that you made it as well... many others have also made the very same mistake you did. 😊 At least you got to show how the Intruder Encounters happen, even if a little earlier than they should have (though you would have gotten to that sooner or later anyways).

Not sure if anzone mentioned it before, bbut after you kill something you should place an intruder carcass token on the room, i guess could easily help you with the objective you choose and you didn't place them after you kill the first 2 larvas :)

Awesome as that rifle was, I would have actually kept the grenade since you had the corpse already too. Then you could have wantonly made noise, and soon as something nasty appeared in that room, just chucked the grenade in there to give it a nasty blast! But, that rifle is no joke, either. But when you attacked the larva both times, shouldn't you have used the pulse rifle, as it has more ammo, and the shotgun inherently does 2 damage if you hit with it? Kind of a waste, if I'm understanding that correctly. Also I thought in combat the aliens had a card to draw too to see if you really hurt them. Is that just for stronger ones, or did they scrap that idea? I just remember reading about it during the Kickstarter.

Those are all good ideas. Sometimes I don’t make the best decision but I’ll let you know what I’m thinking. I couldn’t pass up the gun since that shotgun will only ever have 2 ammo, which isn’t much. You are correct you do draw a card for all intruders except for larva they have one health each so any hit will kill them no card draw. My decision to use the shotgun on the larva was because I was planning on dropping it when to pick up the corps after I got the engines started. Hope this clears up a few things. I have few questions about the game system. Does the Queen automaticly returns the nest, when player enter on it? And does the nest, with all eggs, burn automaticly if there is a flame token on it?

Those are great questions. The queen of on the board will remain on it till her token is returned to the intruder bag or she is defeated then it is removed from the game. If the nest is on fire from what I understand one egg each time the fire damage step happens during the event steps is destroyed. So a long burring fire will take out all the eggs in the nest eventually. It has been a little while since I have played but I believe that is how this works. I'm confused about actions. Playing solo you get more than 2 per round then? Can I use entire hand of cards per round?

Yes kind of I’ll explain the best I can. So you have to preform 2 actions then the next player in turn order goes. Since it is a solo game there is not a next player it defaults back to you. You can than preform another 2 actions. You can play out your whole hand if you wish. Also At any time you can choose to pass, but when you do you that’s the end of the player phase. It is important to remember it’s 2 actions and than the next player which would be you goes again. The reason for this distinction is some rules have to do with after actions. Hope this make sense. I'm confused about actions. 10:00. There's a limit of 2 actions. You've picked up corpse 1 action, moved 1 action, searched 1 action, then used your pilot card another 1 action = 4. Also wouldn't you have to spend a card to equip the heavy weapon you've found to replace the corpse?

Nvm it's solo, but what about equipping heavy items from searching?

Yeah it’s a little different action wise in a solo game but in a normal game it is 2 action then another person would do 2 actions. If you get a heavy object from Searching you can equip it as part of that search action. You don’t need to do another action to pick up the searched for heavy object. Hope that make sense. Did you take too many actions or do you get more in solo mode?

That’s great question. I can see where it can be confusing. Especially in a solo game. I hope this answers your question. After preforming 2 actions I can choose to pass and move to the event phase or continue my turn by doing 2 more actions. If you decide to eve only do 1 action you have to pass and move to the event phase. I hope that makes sense. Since it is a solo game there are no other people to go next after the 2 actions. Thx for the great explanation of the solo version. If I may ask: as a solo player wich one is more exciting Gloomhaven or Nemesis ? ( It is too much to buy them both )

That’s a hard choice. You will get more story and character progression out of gloomhaven. It’s been in the top 5 games since it’s come out for a reason. It is a really good game!!! Nemesis is a great solo one shot experience. I have them both and they will stay in my collection forever. You will good amount of plays out of both games. When you got the prototype rifle why it only has one ammo? Why it doesn´t get full ammo like the shotgun?

great question In the original rules of Nemesis which may have changed when playing lockdown any weapon that is discovered comes in with only one ammo. It seems that u place the noise makers in the middle of the corridor, also indicating it affects the connected room. Yet in another gameplay video the noise makers were placed at the door way of the room just entered. So if noise makers are to be placed in the middle of a corridor, what happens if there is a closed door in the middle of the corridor?

That’s a great question. From the way the rules read the noise marker is placed in the corridor. If you ever place more than one noise marker in that corridor you will resolve and an encounter. If a door is there it doesn’t matter what side the noise is on if a second marker is placed in that corridor at all they will both be removed and you will resolve and encounter in the room that the noise roll was from. Great question. Killing a larva or an egg doesn’t leave a corpse token. Adults breeders and the queen will. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃😃👍

@@MeetMeAtTheTable thanks for reply. i want to add something that i learned and im sooo confused.When u get a blank token from deck after noise tokens if there is another at least 1 token u should put all to adjasent pile noise tokens like danger dice roll.if there is none left, u need to add an adult token in the bag. what do u think? :) by the way i laughed sooo much to ur luck.that was a great 2 videos thanks for it!!!

The only mistake I noticed that wasn't addressed by any other commentor that could see was that after searching the Showers, you forgot to turn the room tile to zero to show there were no more items in the room.

Hope you will consider doing additional play through videos in the future when the expansions are released (2 new aliens to encounter and the Aftermath crew as well). It will be fun to see how these changes to the game will affect the play. 😊

Kingdom Death Monster VS Nemesis. Which is a better solo experience in your opinion?

AHAHAH!! That’s so hard. Your asking me to choose between 2 of my favorite games. They are completely different. I know that’s sounds like an easy out. KDM is an expansive and expensive huge campaign. Nemesis is a one shot solo experience unless you do the untold stories campaign. That campaign is only 4 missions long. There are many solo objectives that change up nemesis, and the board is randomizes every time. Great solo one shot experience. KDMs big campaign can end sadly and have to start over which could be frustrating to some. I enjoy the game every time I start a campaign. Hope this helps. I like the idea of developing the settlement in KDM, also the fights look terrific from your videos but the Alien theme really resonates with me for Nemesis so I'm still undecided whether I should fork out about 200 dollars for Nemesis or wait till Black Friday and possibly get KDM for 325 dollars. Argh decisions!

That’s the toughest call. The nemesis theme is amazing it was what made me back the game originally. Glad I did it’s a fun game. KDM is amazing as well that’s why it so hard for me to recommend over the other. One other thing is that you do have to assemble all the minis in KDM. That’s a deal breaker for some people, but KDM has so many different things going for it and each play is different enough in my opinion. You will have to let me know what you decide and why. Nemisis is a great sit down and play game. Everyone Iv introduced to it has really enjoyed it, KDM does need a committed group to really experience the awesomeness that is KDM!! 😃😃👍

Love your enthusiasm! But 2 small errors. Rolling DANGER on noise dice only puts noise on corridors that doesnt already have one. It never spawns an Intruder. And makes Intruders in neighboring rooms come for a visit.... And going to earth is always the objective if your objective doesnt state otherwise.

You are correct. You do have to preform both actions then move to the next player. You keep taking 2 actions till you run out of cards to use as actions or you choose to pass. If you don’t take 2 actions on your turn you have to pass for the rest of the the turn. If I failed to do that in the playthrough that is my mistake. Sorry for the confusion. Oh yes you can keep preforming action but remember the less cards you have in hand the better the chance of an intruder “alien” has to surprise you if they appear. It’s a great system.

I guess you can look at the engine status without spending a repair card, you only spend it to repair the engine in case you want to repair it

That is correct you can check the engines by looking at the top and placing it back. If you play the repair card you pick them both up and put them back down in any order you want. It’s a little confusing. Thanks MrWanted for watching 😃😃👍

Hey man, at 17:50 you did something wrong. When you roll the danger icon, you add noise to every corridor that does not already contain one so you wouldn't end up with an Enemy.

Just got my copy and it’s missing the events , intruder attack and serious wounds decks wow!! Nice Awaken realms what a complete joke. Now it’s just sitting on my table waiting to see if they’ll even replace them. Or even respond to my email. Maybe hire some competent QA team.

You are limited to 2 actions per turn. Actions can me - Basic Actions Actions from Action cards Actions from Item cards Actions from Room tiles (taken from the rulebook). I have no clue why you are making so many actions per turn. Like in 24:22, you move (basic action) , search, search (both are actions from action cards) and reload the weapon (action from item card). Thats 4 actions! In a single turn you did what normally should take 2 turns.

Thanks for the comment Christopher but I can understand what you are talking about. After you take 2 actions the next player is supposed to go, but since this is solo the turn just comes back to me. So I take another 2 cations, and choose to stop at any time to move to the intruders phase. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the comment.
