Phreak knows which champions are strongest and uses that knowledge to get a high rank. That's not elo inflation that is a good use of game knowledge. Yeah they are not as mechanically intensive but the argument holds true about any champ in any lane.

I feel like everyone here is missing the point. Elo inflation is when you play a champ or do a strategy that gives you a rank that is better than you deserve. So you are basically playing with people who are better than you but you abuse something to win more games. Janna is an elo inflated champion because she is allowed to have a little bit more winrate because she is not frustrating to play against. She basically steals that winrate from champions that are more frustrating to play against and are left intentionally undertuned. Elo inflation will inflate your winrate by a couple hundred LP, so as Nemesis said, Phreak is probably a high diamond player still. He's not bad at the game by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't believe that is what elo inflation is. Elo inflation is what happens when new ranks are added. Adding emerald inflated the elo of everyone plat and below upwards. Elo inflation is not a bad thing, it's just a byproduct of adjusting rank distribution.

seraphine 2 buttons oneshot the wave, percentage healing later stages of the game, beautiful teamfights, too many utility + so safe to lane and able to win almost every matchup unless player leaves the turret for some reason janna is just too braindamaged, counters every engage by simple button which isnt even need to hit or have accuracy also, it has so much ms for free (ms is basically the strongest stat in the game)

Ok, but what's more impressive - reaching master with a 79% winrate on an "elo iunflating champion", or Tyler1 grinding 2000 games with a 51% winrate to get challenger in toplane? The reality is that not everyone has the time to play 10+ ranked games a day.

I saw this a lot with a game I used to play where the people who make/balance the game will add things that are broken and then play them. I think it's scummy and hurts the integrity of the game. Phreak is clearly similar and it's pretty obvious if you look at the champs he mains.

ye but he showcases that no matter what he plays, he can be a high diamond on both euw and korea without an issue. he climbed with orianna, syndra, trynda, yone, yasuo, kayle, veigar, kassadin, pretty much every single midlaner in the game and he invented/popularized shit like kayle and trynda mid, so there is no way you can compare someone who peaked rank 2 korea (only behind chovy who was above 2k lp at the time) and riot phreah spamming janna on his elo enflated acc where he is somehow able to climb to masters in 100 games with 56% wr whereas most people still have negative gains with 60% wr.

the playerbase percentiles for higher elos has been increasing since season 9. masters+, for example, doubled in percentage of ranked players from season 10 to 11, so no it hasnt been "always the case" its literally less impressive to hit masters nowadays. and im just going by data before season 12 pretty sure masters got even easier to get as every hardstuck d2-d1 i knew started to hover around 100-200lp after that

1. He's playing objectively elo inflated champs. Janna literally does nothing but hard peel your carries. She's supposed to be a counter pick champ, not one strong enough to blind pick every game. The fact Janna has been broken for basically an entire year at the point and hasn't been nerfed and HE'S THE LEAGUE BALANCE HEAD is pretty telling. 2. Due to Emerald addition, MMR for master is literally what diamond was before the ranked rework. Like that is literally non-disputable, there have been several analysts that have done the work on this and you can find it easily by searching for it. Without Emerald Phreak would still be in diamond. 3. Phreak is keeping ADC weak which gives him more control over the lane. By having an overtuned support play against a weak role, he can influence the game too easily in lane and then get carried later by just playing an enchanter. You can quite literally argue every change he has made has been something for him to abuse in his own climb. Buffing ADCs to where they are strong in solo q, getting gapped because he doesn't have the hands to play the role anymore, gutting ADCs to priority q levels which is unreal for the ADC role (the most popular role in the game basically since it's conception besides mid), then making supports completely broken so he can swap to easy champs that win games without trying.
