It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book kzread.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

The median age of the people who comment here is 20's I think. People who are little older often would not have the nerve to be so critical (and sometimes downright mean) when they hadn't even design-built a tiny house themselves. Maybe "I hate mean people" is no longer a thing. Is this what we've come to in our culture? This is a great house. Celebrate the positive!

People who are used to 20 foot ceilings, 4000 sq. ft. 3 or more bathrooms etc. will have to do some time relearning space. Funny to think that someone could try to imagine changing their paradigm from too much to just enough easily. This is a new way of looking at our environment and it is by far the best thing for all of us to be learning. This is all about making our footprint tiny. And it is very comfy. Takes time to get used to the entire idea.

  • @1badpete999

People are not complaining about the idea and ecological footprint they are complaining about the lack of finishing skills seen in so many of these small homes with a finish off a oversize shed with a bit more windows with a serie of fastly assembled square boxy furniture not even sanded with sharp edges to get splinters off ! The idea of getting out off the grid is fantastic by itself solar panel and the works , but to a carpenter eyes or experience woodworker you can't disguise a shed finish into a small finely built small home for the same price !

Yes, exactly! I can't stand the people who live alone or as a couple in 300sq ft hating on families living in 500. People need to get a grip and be more accepting and inclusive. Apparently they're not in it for the right reasons and would rather these families just continue to live paycheck to paycheck largely in debt in their 3,000sq ft home (eye roll). Some people are so rude!

Re the fold-down bed for the kids: Rather than use legs to support it, create angled shelves upon which the desk rests; and then, when it's folded down, the bed, too, can rest there. That negates any concern that the legs of the bed might be kicked out and makes for some useful storage space within an area of the room that is generally otherwise just wasted floorspace.

I’ve been a carpenter for 45 years. What I see here is a lot of common grade #2 framing lumber being stained and used as finish lumber. Framing lumber has no crisp edges and lends a “ homemade garage work bench” look to your project. Possibly I’m being over critical because I’ve been a carpenter for so long? Most people probably do not even notice… but these tiny houses are quite expensive. The tiny size does not come with a proportionally smaller price. The square foot costs of these homes are often higher than the cost of a luxury conventionally built home. This is true with all smaller homes. Even site built homes. The costs accumulate in the kitchen and bathroom areas and the lack of square footage under roof seldom offsets this… tiny houses have all of the same systems as large houses… so craftsmanship is what you are paying for. There are a lot of “builders” producing these tiny homes now and many of them are of very high quality… but some of them truly shine when it comes to real craftsmanship. Do your research. Compare the small finish details. Don’t pay craftsman prices for adolescent “treehouse / fort” quality work.

It's really impressive on the outside but the indoor area is a big let down. Maybe it is meant to be rustic or minimalistic but it looks unfinished. No cupboards or shelves other than a pantry/closet. The walls are bare like they are waiting to be finished. The plain molding is just too extremely bland. Even a home meant to be rustic can look more warm and cozy than this. These are just trailers with a different type of exterior and I have to say the trailer or "mobile homes" were far superior to this on the inside. Maybe some people are taken in when you label it as a "tiny home" but it's just a stripped down "mobile home."

@will martin Its just a stripped down trailer or "mobile home." They call it a tiny home and get several grand more for it!

This is beautiful house! It is not a house that I would choose to live in, but I can see the beauty of it. You said that people were not living in it yet at the beginning the video. Then during the video you mentioned that people are not yet living in it. So some of the comments were thoughtless, because people just sometimes want to see things fully furnished. Then there were comments on what the clients wanted in their home set-up-wise and size-wise. The length of the video is given at the very beginning - so why complain about the time when you knew how much time it would take to watch the entire thing. Thank you for being able to put up with the negativity so that you can share something positively beautiful.
