The next album "Loose" was about something completely different, on the album "Loose" Nelly is a completely different person. I really like the album Folklore and the following album "Loose" was a disappointment of the year for me.

@@horvis1varnsdorf "Loose" was not a different person but a different aspect of Nelly that she hadn't musically explored commercially yet. I feel like there is always a bias about her having had "sold out" and worked with Timbaland and Danja. But before "Whoa, Nelly!" she had dabbled in trip-hop and spoken word, and even recorded with a few rappers. She participated in Honey Jam, too. So, "Loose" was totally appropriate to her persona. The only thing that wasn't so pleasant to her was the overwhelming success and exhausting fame that it brought her. But "Loose" was definitely part of Nelly Furtado's personality and I'm glad that she had recorded that album. I've been a huge fan since I heard "I'm Like a Bird" and I'm so glad that she's finally back in the studio to record a new album
This is by far Nelly Furtado's best song ever...! a masterpiece!

It was her best, the high point. Her writing songs featuring real musicians in an organic setting producing REAL music. From here on out the studio forced co-writers to write "hits" for her, real musicians were ditched in favor of casio keyboards, she was paired with whatever "it" rapper was, and instead of personal almost intimate music like Folklore it became just disposable as-ran pop garbage. SAd.

This song reminds me of my high school experience. Ditching class to get stoned, drinking in class, flirting with boys, getting into trouble and fights yes, we get stuck in these ways. Interesting to see where everyone is now.
Nelly and her band do this song fucking awesome live. I was going through her youtube concert vids, "Explode" was done so well. Too bad i wasn't nearly old enough to go to any of her concerts, thats how young i was when i was bumping Nelly F. My mom and i used to listen to Nelly every morning to and from school back in elementary/ middle school since she was a teacher there and my sister and i were students. She really raised me to liking Nelly, now that like 10 years have gone by , i look back and know how i got into her. All of Nelly's albums seem completely different from one another and i like that, she explores different music types. I still think "Loose" from 2006-2008 was her best work and hopefully Timbaland gets back together with her. Besides a couple of her singles where Timbaland was the main producer and were really big "pop" songs , shes pretty underrated. One of the few talented and fun to listen to and watch women artists of our generation. Now we have bieber/miley cyrus/ katy perry/ 2 chainz and whatever other bullshit. Props to the 2001-2009 music era, R.I.P. Please come back to american music Nelly Kim Furtado.

Could not agree more, although for personal reasons Folklore is my fave album of Nelly's but her debut is a close 2nd just for it's freshness. Loose was awesome (and I saw her live that year woo-hoo) but not quite as good (original) as her previous efforts. I admired the musical journey of Spirit Indestructible But as a whole the album didn't work for me, apart from Bucket List which was just delicious. I applaud her musical diversity and long may this under-rated diva continue cause I'll always be listening :)

Idk so many people didnt like TSI i really can't find a single bad song on it, alot of them are just really well done.

Folklore was, far and away, her best album. It featured actual musicians, it featured Nelly's lyrics, it featured a very real, almost emotionally vulnerable and self-aware Nelly. From every album after it was about trying to make her some pop sensation using "it" rappers and fucking casio keyboards without real musicians or talent. Also after Folklore the label stuck her with "writing partners" i.e. "hit factory" types that don't write emotional or heartfelt lyrics, just whatever maybe the radio wants during whatever is the thing in music for that year. Amazing album, it was all downhill from there.
Binge watching Nelly's videos because I miss her, hope she comes with a new album this year ♥️

2019 y aún sigo escuchando este álbum! El mejor de Nelly Furtado, marco mi adolescencia ✨
This is deep... Vera's face burnt as a memory of bedroom fun With a lighter and some hairspray Smoking in the girls' room Not worse than Shelley's rape behind the McDonald's By a man she thought was fine, didn't tell anybody Or maybe back then we just thought that she was getting some Now we look back and see that she didn't know how We never thought that we'd get caught up Stuck in the teenage waste As we explode Then getting drunk in the bushes by the road outside the Kmart Rolling around in them to see if you would get prickled slip the acid on your tongue rooftop mall parkade We couldn't get enough Then count the stars and the ten million woes Just you and the universe judging each other We never knew that we'd get caught up Stuck in the teenage waste As we explode As we let go It's a fight, it's a fight and you finally belong Got a shiner now and it's more than a battle scar More than a battle scar, such a good, good story to tell At lunch break, lunch break, lunch break, lunch break Such a good, good story to tell You bully, you break, you bully, you break You fake, you fake, you fake, you fake You smoke, you toke, you want, you flaunt, you hit it and you're in it and it's spinning And it's wild We never thought that we'd get caught up Stuck in the teenage waste As we explode As we let go We're counting the stars We're gonna go far, we're gonna go far We're counting the stars, We're not very far, we're not very far And it's you and me in the open air It's truth or dare, we don't care We're counting the stars

The pinnacle. Woah Nelly was pretty good, Folklore knocked it out of the park, then everything went to shit with Loose, out went musicians and Nelly's lyrics, in came casio keyboards and co-writers thrust onto her to write disposable hits. Folklore will always stand the test of time as her high watermark, a damn near flawless, timeless album that captured heart, passion, life, every album after purely just to make money.

For me this is actually a good video. I watched it first here at 11 and I thought the cartoon version of Nelly had a cat-like face lmao. I was also a bit jealous of Nelly because I wanted to look like her and it never worked. Now I'm 15, I watched this again and I realize this has an actual meaning. I can say this song is one of the best by Nelly :-)
I cant explain why i love this song
Her best cd
@adamhellerud2743
10 жыл бұрын
The blending of sounds, with solid lyrics make this CD simply a joy to listen to. I think it was a simple tragedy that TRY did not become the hit it is. I was in denial at the selling out she did with Timbaland, but love hip-hop-pop, and heard what she had did in other hip-hop and rap songs that she was featured on, so I was forgiving of Loose. Loose was the start of the new Timbaland era and I loved the sounds he made that help him rule the air waves for 2 and half years. Mi Plan was good, I always loved her Spanglish singing songs, Spirit indestructible was not lyrically terrible but they were often to repetitive, in the end they ruined the originality of them, and even her organic sound did little to help combat it . The sound was suppose to be a cross between Whoa Nelly and Loose... I believe that is how she explained it. I think with Gaga and Adele being so big, it pressured artistes into deviating from what they may already been doing with there new work. Nelly may have been no different. Weather or not this is true I feel she failed in achieving the sound she was looking to make. I wish she never would have worked with Dark Child.

Brings so many memories. I remember feeling super edgy listening to unreleased foreign songs. Could not understand everything in the song at the time, but I definitely felt the melancholy of being a teen and the contradictions of wanting to look big while still being a kid at heart. I got stuck with the line "just you and the universe judging each other" because I thought it was cool, but now at 34 I understand how deep it really is. I've bought a bass very recently and I want to cover this song as soon as I'm able to with other people.
