I recently rewatched them Steve-O h3 interview and he talks all about how a main factor of the jackass pranks is that the public aren’t the butt of the joke and they aren’t mean spirited, and how so many KZread pranks seems to be the opposite of this. This is so true. I can't remember where I heard it but I always remember this quote that a GOOD prank will do nothing to its target other than make them feel like they've gone insane. Just For Laughs Gags does an amazing job at this. One of my favs is when they wait for ppl to go into a portapotty and then they move a trailer w a business meeting so the door to the potty opens up to the meeting when they come out. The main difference between this newer generation of 'pranks' and older ones like Jackass, is the new gen prank other people, where as I remember Johnny Knoxville (iirc) saying they generally only prank themselves or each other and when they're in public it's more or less just using people as witnesses, it was never mean-spirited to pedestrians.
