Brilliant, so good together and the harmony too
saw this last night on SKY ARTS and I was absolutly bowled over what a fantastic show
Just think of the exceptional intelligence of a person who can do all that Neil Sedaka can do!
Have to say it again---why isn't this talented singer, writer, pianist, in the rock and roll Hall of Fame. Truely a no brainer-yet we await?............

On this day in 1977 {June 17th} guest host Neil Sedaka performed "Amarillo" on the NBC-TV program 'Midnight Special'... One month earlier on May 28th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #44 and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1959 and 1980 he had thirty Top 100 records, with nine making the Top 10 and three peaking at #1 {"Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" for 2 weeks in 1962, "Laughter in the Rain" for 1 week in 1975, and "Bad Blood" for 3 weeks in 1975}...

Neil's omission from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is an incredible oversight. What is wrong with the Board of Directors???
Neil really seems to having fun bangin' on that piano -- makes me wanna learn. The two guys look like they had a lot of fun doing the number. I heard this song for the first time on Classic Gold out of Britain. Definitely different -- the songs they would play on what seemed to me, a top 40 format. This song and "The Wichita Lineman" (or as one "presenter" put it, "that bloke on the telegraph pole"). Those two songs I just CANNOT imagine hearing on a top 40 station in America..

Neil is doing a one man Show and still fills the house and keeps everyone entertained. What a composer and pianist, personality and that fabulous voice! Another GREAT to check out is Anthony Newley. Not only did he write many hits for Sammy Davis Jr., but he was a great performer in his own right. Check out Hollywood Palace- Anthony Newley and Sammy Davis Jr. There is a part one and part two!

Drove from LA to Indiana, stopped in Amarillo, had some food and proceeded on HWY 40 to OK up to Sain Louis and then to Evansville, IN When I came back? stopped for food again and the prettiest girl I´ve ever seen was my waitress at the café where I was on my way down; she told me she would love to come to CA but her parents would disapprove.... so I just kep going westbound to CA her name was Mary,

***** Amarillans are like that. I was moving from job to job every 5 years or so, building my resume. I moved to Amarillo in 2006, thinking I would leave in 3 or 4 years....I'm still here, married and our son turned 2 today. I will probably live in Amarillo 'til I die.

we agree. And Tony C popularised this song, and that can't ever be taken away from him. Neil's vocals sound quite a bit healthier, but I still reckon Tony's tone resonates best with this song/classic. I guess Tony C has merely smoked a few too many cigarettes and several more brandy's than has Neil S. Half his luck :-P
