My dad was singing this just like Neil and I have to say I think we should get this trending... bloody brilliant 😂

He then came back on the Christmas special that year and started to sing "My White Bicycle" which was the follow-up, then realised what music was playing. I saw him in WWRY a few years ago and he does have a phenomenal singing voice.

I've got a copy of this on my 'Hit's' album, which was a rival compilation to the 'Now that's what I call music' albums.

Hurdy Gurdy Mushroom Man was the B side. Brilliant.

I was born in 79 and remember watching them first time round and loving then fogetting about it until Bottom years later. There were 3 channels until there were 4

I first came across Neil in 1986. I was a Canadian doing Spring Break in Florida. Neil was hosting MTV and did dour little monologues, showed clips, and sang "Hole In My Shoe." I had never heard of the Young Ones but became intrigued and sought them out on the CBC (I also have some VHS that no one will watch with me). North American needs The Young Ones.

you probably know this by now but in case anyone else didn't know, The Young Ones did air in North America in the Mid 80s on MTV and again in the mid 90s on Comedy Central. and it's readily available on DVD

Talk about novelty!!! When I first heard this song, I thought that Tom Bailey from The Thompson Twins had released a solo single!!! Then when I saw the video, it was Neil from "The Young Ones"!! A brilliant interpretation of the song originally made famous by the band Traffic in 1967. This got to number 2 in the UK singles chart as did the original. To tell you truth it does sound a bit Thompson Twinsesque.

One of the cuts of this song I got on tape in 1984. I stayed up all night and made cassettes of some of the latest music from an FM radio show out of Manitoba Canada called CBC Nightlines. The last line of this song said- Wait a minute, if the earth is round, where are all the corners. Have never been able to find that cut on KZread. Anyone know of what I speak?
