Yes glad to see a neighbor helping, and the neighbor also is teaching his kids to earn money and is setting a great example for them by helping his neighbor.

Yes, he said he has mowed it a couple of times for him. The owner obviously works not sure what his reason is for not mowing, 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nice of course but person A does not have the authority to allow person B to perform work on the property of person C (without being authorised to do so by that person C)

It was very sketchy. It appeared to me the "neighbor" was there to keep an eye on Bladez than to actually help. Obviously the home hadn't been maintained for sometime.

Maybe the neighbor wanted to pick up some tips on how Al does yards, for his own sake, too. We can always learn new tricks to work with the right tools.

I know you said you normally don't let people help you, but I look at it this way he's teaching his kids that helping someone in need it a good thing and can be very rewarding. So thanknyou for letting him help you and thank you neighbor for helping Al!❤

Love seeing the neighbour jumping in giving you a hand. Often the most loving and giving thing you can do is give someone else the blessing of helping and feeling the joy you get every yard

I’m glad you let the neighbor help! He said himself that it gave him a good feeling; by accepting his help, you let him experience that! That’s the sort of thing that makes that spirit of helpfulness spread, and the world definitely needs more of that! ❤👍

This one hit a little different. Al, good on ya for letting the neighbor help. It gives him a little bit bigger purpose. And his kids get to see him in the process. You inadvertently gave him the opportunity to show his children what being a good neighbor can mean as well as just being kind to someone with no reward in sight. Truly inspirational!

Exactly. No one knows the full story. Maybe welcome neighbors' help, but do not discuss the homeowner personally with the others as we don't know what is really going on here.

@@cynthiatownsend The thing is, we don't know here at KZread if the owner is "afraid" to answer the door, or how nice the neighbors are. There may be a legitimate reason for not engaging these particular neighbors, the kids ... or anyone at all. When I help others, I do not disclose or discuss with third parties for this very reason. This is helpful and preserves the dignity and privacy, no matter the situation.

My thoughts go out to the homeowner - I know how it feels to want to shut yourself away from the world and not engage with it, if you don't want to, are scared to, or are thoroughly frustrated with it. I hope they are ok and are taking care of themselves. Kudos to you, Al, for doing a great job here and big props to the neighbor for offering to help, setting a good example for his kids of what neighborly spirit looks like.

Right. Cutting makes it look better, but doesn’t fix the problem. Plus over time the board behind the gutter will rot.

That's exactly what I was thinking. He should just leave a note where the guy is sure to find it, explaining what he does. It's not that complicated, to be honest. I'm confused why Al thinks that the person must answer the door for there to be communication. There are lots of other ways to communicate besides face to face.

When I was watching the video, and the neighbor came to held Al, I was like awe! that was so sweet of him giving Al a helping hand. Great job looks amazing👍🏻👍🏻

Great job Al. Nice to have a helpful neighbor pitch in. He saved you time and a lot of steps by hauling the debri to the curb. I hope the homeowner appreciated the work.He had to have some sense of relief that it was cleaned up.

Al, I might have the same reaction: not answering the door, expecting the lawn guy to ask for or demand payment. Too bad the helpful neighbor didn't explain for you. Sounds like the guy doesn't answer the door to anyone at all, possibly even the neighbours. I'm in the UK, is simple enough at least here to say 'show me what I signed up for' aka gtfo. And same - the neighbour seemed confident the transformation would be well received. Personally, I would cry tears of relief and gratitude if I came home to find someone had done this for me (not that I need it doing, but you know, if I did) to be told it was aa freebie.

My thought exactly. Leave a note: Hi, my name is... I mow lawns for free and I hope that you were pleased with my work. I'd like to return to pressure wash your path to door, also for free, to ensure you're safe going in and out of your home. I'll be back in a couple of days to pressure wash but only if I have your permission. Write a Yes or No on this note and I will respect your wishes. Again, no charge for anything.

You gotta admit, it's nice to work with a buddy. The work gets done faster and it's more fun!!!!

It was very kind of you to let the neighbor "help" you. It can be very distracting when you normally work alone. There are a lot of possible reasons for that. For instance, a person might want to avoid receiving legal papers or contact with the police. Or they could be paranoid or have some other kind of mental illness. They could also be deaf and unable to hear someone knocking or could have mobility issues and have a hard time coming to the door. Or they may have had too many salespeople or religious people bothering them. But whatever the reason, it's highly unlikely that it had anything to do with Al.

​@@TerryProtheroI agree, these days people not answering the door ain't that odd, know when ever I answer my door its either religious people telling me I need to find their god or someone trying to sell me something, my attitude now is of they really need me then they will either phone me or leave a note if they don't then it can't be that important 😊

I second the note idea! I'm a single woman who rarely answers when people knock on my door (I don't know what they could do to me, etc so I feel it's safer for me not to answer unless it's someone I know). However, I always read any notes or flyers left on my door!! Thats a great non-invasive way to let the man know it's free! Good job Al🤗
