Neglected Garden Gets Yearly Renovation | Overgrown Yard Maintenance

Ойын-сауық

This yard was in pretty bad shape after not having any work done, except for mowing, for over a year. We were tasked with an overall cleanup, and we completed all the necessary trimming and tiding to a good standard. This yard probably needs a check every 4 months to keep it looking nice, but the owner prefers to have it done yearly. All up, the job took us around 5 hours to complete, and we took out approx. 3/4 of a trailer of waste material.
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Reece (Shorts).

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

Here in beautiful Norwalk, CT we had two rather balmy spring-like days with high 50’s temps and rain… and gusty winds on Wednesday and Thursday. Started off today Friday 12/23 at 57 and now 19 degrees. Going on down to 10 degrees tonight. Worst fear is ice…. Have no snow falling yet. I was born in NE Ohio… in the snow belt of Geauga County outside of Cleveland. We had moved to Austin,TX in 1979. Lost my husband at age 46 in a flood-related auto accident in which I was also nearly swept away. Retired at age 68.5 from 18 yrs at Dell Computer. In 2016 I spent two years in Southern Ohio with my son who was working in the area there. He moved me into his condo in FL in late 2017 where I lived for four years until his unexpected death in Oct 2020. I came to share a home with my granddaughter and family here in CT in Apr 2021. I find the weather wonderful here! Milder and less cold and snow here than in NE Ohio. Wonderful change of seasons. My husband’s lineage and my mother’s were deeply rooted in this area! Many ancestors dating back to the mid-1600’s. Their offspring becoming pioneers of Ohio’s Great Western Reserve….. and here I am finding myself at age 83❤

I'm glad they were able to do the yearly maintenance. (A wipedown on paving and stairs with a bleach solution would have been nice... A bucket and broom operation?) Enjoying the progress of order and form at 20:19. (Wondering if the bamboo screening would be bleachable as well with a pump sprayer.) Nice before and after pictures. A good job done, both of you.

Nice clean-up, guys. Looks much better The dreaded agapanthus is classified as a noxious weed in most of New Zealand I think. It can form insane clumps that are nearly impossible to totally dig out. They're good for holding a steep hillside. That place would look amazing with a house makeover as well, as in a new paint job. Shout out to Reece for his hard work.

Nice job 👏🏻 Agapanthus are deemed environmental weeds in most Australian states due to seed spread. The seeds are light and are blown into bushland very easily. Deadheading immediately after flowering prevents this. I wish I'd been there to snaffle all those bay leaves - great in soups, stocks, stews etc and help prevent moths in pantries and linen cupboards
