This is genius! Thick hair is very beautiful but it needs more hold than edge control. It's also very fragile. I will definitely have to try this on my daughter's hair.

The only time I saw something like this was when archeologist showed how ancient greeks used to do their updos with needles and wool during a tour. When I looked more into it, I saw tribes in Asia weaving their hair with coloured threads. I didnt think much about it after but it's obvious a technique like that might have been used everywhere on the planet seeing how useful, efficient and protective it is, plus folks didnt have scrunchies and whatnot lol ! I swear, ancient folks knew what was what. This video makes me want to try it👍

I've never done it but can you use weave sewing thread instead of yarn and maybe soak it in oil prior to installation?

You could also use braiding hair instead of yarn. Using a daily spray while you have the hairstyle on will also help with moisture.

I mostly use 3 ply acrylic yarn. You can use any thread or yarn as long as it's not too thin and it's not rough or else it'll break the hair and cause unnecessary friction.
