It feels so weird seeing the PS2 port at such a high framerate. Both the Wii and the PS2 had scaled down versions of Prostreet and used Most Wanted/Carbon's sound files instead of the ones used in the PC/Xbox versions.

The Wii version does have the same sounds and graphics as the ps2 version but it can handle a few things that the ps2 version can’t. For example the ps2 version only has 4 racers for every race type while the wii version has 6 racers including you for every race.

@@midnapoonovabuslfsfan541 yeah I did notice that. I grew up with the Wii version so I had no clue the PS2 one existed and was even more limited to what the Wii did. The Wii usually had 8 opponents instead of the 6 or 4 that the PS2 had

I think this was the peak of NFS sound, although it's a pity there's no distinction between intake and exhaust noise. But still, very impressive.

@paganiandsky lovely car for the money, hard to beat for me. Modular engine sounds like an animal at any speed and plenty torque. Helps me stay under the speed limit 🤣

i like how the s3 went from evo's 4g63t as a stock sound and a cobalt ss/mazdaspeed3 sound in max upgrade lmao

The MW car is and *Audi A4* which has the 3.2 V6 engine, the S4 has a 4.2 V8.

Some sounds are completely wrong tho like Focus ST should have inline 5 sound if they didnt have that then M3 E46 I6 sound not some puny 1.6 inline 4. But it has the same problemmij main release of the game too Or Upgraded Eclipse having a v6 sound

What makes the ps2 version special is the fact that the cars are shifting faster because of the reused physics and stats of Carbon which results in faster acceleration.

actually no, it's the same as ProStreet PC, you can look at extracting the files with disculator and opening Attributes in VLTEd

Well on the R32 Golf it has the MW 2005 GTI engine sound and the golf gti does have the A3 and GTI stage 1 engine sound from NFS Underground 2

Im gonna miss the Ferrari 360 sound from the modified RX-8 engine, i really grew to love the sound

PC prostreet uses a new engine audio system that new gen undercover and post 2011 world use. But the code for the old engine audio system (that underground two, mw and carbon, PS2 prostreet and PS2 undercover use) is still left over in the game's files if you open them with vlted. I hope someone finds a way to re-activate them.

Some car sounds here are painfully inaccurate. The Escort should not sound like a flat-4, the GT-R Proto should not sound like an I6, and the Supra shouldn't sound like a V6 (even though that was a problem starting with UG2).

To be fair, the GT-R Proto sounding like an RB26 it's better than the real GT-R R35 sounding like a straight pipe 350z imo

They kept the sound profiles of Carbon and earlier NFS games, for PC/XBox/PS3 they were a bit, or completely, different indeed. Although tbh, half of the cars sound better in the PS2 version and the other half on the other consoles.

@@77x5ghost Later consoles mix a lot of sounds. TMXs are just the upgraded versions of GINs file used in earlier games. You can add those nodes on your own. Explore and study yourself and see how it works.

ps2/wii sounds > pc/ps3/xbox 360 sounds in my opinion

ps2 version had waaaaaaaay better sounds tbh, retained the older NFS sounds which were peak car racing sounds imho.

Even though the DS Port of NFS PROSTREET is far superior than both PS2 and 3, the car sound in NFS PROSTREET PS2 are still very impressive.
