If you think 2 races for 1 upgrade is expensive, the you had never played NFS Most Wanted 2005. He didn't explained the card game, just said its stupid. If you want a specific part you can get is by locking it. You can lock also the boost you get from the card, for example acceleration or you lock the the boost you get when you have 3 of the same cards. That was no review, it was an opinion piece.

CALIBREX yeah... I understand the whole Online Only thing they had going... it was to prevent against hackers which it did... the only thing you could hack in NFS 2015 Was freeze AI vehicles. The second It was revealed that Payback would bring back offline play, the hacking community threw a damn fit...

I honestly gotta say that there‘s so much left out in this review, like all of multiplayer, the derelict cars, how the customization is way better, how ghost games stated they‘re gonna bring back online free roam and how they will also bring back free roam chases... the better driving isnt even praised, the fact that the performance upgraded are now way more unique... what the hell guys how can you just listen to this and believe it all the way.. and the visual unlocks is honestly down to personal preference, srsly, it‘s nice not to have to just level up to unlock everything.. again also just opinion but i feel like they just went overboard with the criticism.. there even is tuning shops TO BUY THE UPGRADES WITH INGAME CASH AND U KNOW WHAT U GET

I find it really good with the unlocking system, where you have to spend time with the car you have in order to customise them. What do they expect? Forza horizon?. This game gave us more time to spend on our rides rather than doing races and races.

The upgrade system is fine. The freeroam cops from 2015 were nothing more than a nuisance. Payback's cops actually offer somewhat of a challenge. Yes, it would be nice if there were freeroam cops in Payback, but when you compare the two, Payback has better cops than 2015. And if you genuinely think the graphics look worse, you must be blind.

What I don’t understand is the fact that everyone harped on ghost about it being to easy to get everything in 2015. Now that there’s a grind for your stuff, everybody flips their lid and act like it’s a problem. The multiplayer may not be up to par yet, but other than that they listened to the fans and gave them exactly what they wanted. It’s sad that people still bash the developers and the game despite all of that

Parker Hammack MW2012 was a great game but I'd only give it an 8. There's no story which is minor as it's a burnout successor in all truth. The customization to car performance wasn't the issue for me but there was no customization to car's appearances. It was fun and the map and ost were great but even then there was no sense of reward and progression. The multiplayer was soooo great though. They put too much burnout and little to no NFS MW2005 and it pisses people off that it wears the name for no good reason but as an arcade racing game it was great.

I Enjoyed every second of Payback. Specially the story. Heat didn't focus on story which I don't like. yeah Heat is an improvement overall. But got boring quickly. Payback has something that kept me playing it

I am glad I played this game first before seeing this review, I actually am thoroughly enjoying this game.

Man you people are never happy, NFS goes Street Racing and half the fans complain that it's a series about super cars (which it was) so NFS goes back to super cars and no customization because surprise! In the real world super cars have very limited customization! But people still complain to bring it back to street racing! Which half the fan base was tired of! So they try to compromise with some experiments NFSHP and NFSRivals and on launch many of you complained! And now that NFS is taking another path people still complain saying that they should've kept going on the same path that y'all complained about! I feel bad for NFS developers, they will NEVER please the community because their hopes are so high on bringing back nostalgia. Have any of you even played NFSMW or Carbon lately??? The controls and road layouts were very awkward! Games evolve and those times are over! Maybe NFS should split and release yearly but one year Supercar focused and the other street focused but people would probably find something to complain about. SMH.

Andre Roberson Says who ? The vast majority consider those to be the best, especially Most Wanted. Nostalgia aside, it brought the cop chases from Hot Pursuit before it and elaborated with a better selection of cars and customization from Underground and Underground 2. The Black Box era of NFS games were pretty good. Funny thing is now people consider The Run to be good, and it is . But they didn't say that when it released.

I honestly like this game a lot. I beat it yesterday morning &I got my bel air & c10 chevy all on a super off-road build it's so sick! You can't go wrong with this game man! They cherry picked so much stuff from racing games! 😍 Burnout 3 takedowns, Forza speed drift zones &a tuning, nfs ug customization, 2012 nfs billboard smashing, the list keeps going bruh I highly recommend this game to anybody!

aye just got this game. Loving it already. Looks better than Rivals (which just took a few days to complete)

How speed cards work: Speed cards are a part upgrade system split into a few different "brands" that will give you a bonus based on how many of the same one you have on. You can obtain speed cards by buying them through the part shops with either money, or trying your luck with part tokens you obtain through crates or trading speed cards you get from winning races. Could be been said in less then a minute

In my opinion they did a great job in this game, of course it has some flaws like no online free roam, or free roam chases which I do admit that they NEED to fix, but besides that they did everything fans were asking for, lots of costumization, lots of cars, a whole new map (which is way bigger that what I expected it to be). As a fan I am really happy with what they have done, of course if you’re not aware of the nfs community like this guy that reviewed this game, you will not understand the game and what they changed and you will not end up liking it, so I think that the rating they gave to this game is just stupid, a real nfs fan would give it at least a 8

It may have fixed those thing, but it still took some steps back as he explained and the story is trash. You can't get excited over daytime and not always online either.

So it seems like people like to play the same game with no progression over and over again and get the fastest car from the start of the game of free. Old school NFS games had progression were you had to unlock the cars and the parts, and it had cheesy stories and characters ,and now all of a sudden all of that is in a 2017 game and people complain...

Played the trial, it is really good. He did highlight some valid concerns, but this game is definitely not 5.9 out of ten. It's a solid 8 at least

Just wondering, does someone know if the reviewers themselves give out the scores? I often have the feeling that the reviewers only write the review and someone else does the scoring (because of the jarring difference sometimes), but when I see such a well articulated and honest review, I also don't think it's a coincidence that the score feels more appropriate than normal. I haven't seen a score below a 7 for a AAA title in forever from IGN, so if this reviewer really gave the score himself, I trust him even more.

I guess the opinions are very different on this one again. I'm the person who bought a Xbox One especially to try Forza Horizon 3, 6 and 7 which everyone talks so enthusiastically about. Well I didn't liked it that much, it's a great game and all but it doesn't fit my play-style so I sold my Xbox again. Reviews are just opinions watched in a big perspective, respect for all that but people take this so literally. I may sound as a fanboy but I really love Payback, it's not 100% solid but I really love to play it! I've been playing payback for 4 days now and I have 0 regrets of buying it. Btw guys don't forget they're doing this to make money, I can't agree or disagree with this channel. I recommend of just buying it and see for yourself. As a hardcore car enthousiast I really approve the work in NFS. I remember when games were just to chill and relax and have fun with your mates. That is the thing this game is meant to played for. Probably 90% of the people saying that underground 2 was the best game ever of the NFS franchise, well.. I bet if you'd replay it today you will not be satisfied because the gaming industry evolved so much today you really can't compare it with back in the day. Here iam, writing a 5 minute comment on a stupid KZread video whilst I could be having fun on Payback right now.. Go try it yourself and have fun! Don't watch stupid review videos!

EKspeed I would say improve physics, handling, Make the world a much bigger place, downgrade the graphics and focus on adding more gameplay and things to do more cars more customization options more tuning and overall make every car playable because 2015 barely every car was playable without crashing every 5 minutes

I've played Payback for 15 hours, and this game deserves a much much better grade than this. Payback has got the genuine classic NFS feel from the golden era. The upgrade system is not that bad once you get used to it, and the story and dialogue is just fine for a racing game. Locked mods and the speedcard system build into a great progression system, and the loot boxes, or shipments, won't give you an advantage online. The AI is great, finally not too easy to beat! You can always put it on easy if you feel like you can't beat every single event instantly without actually doing something to earn it. The cop chases are a negative in my books too, but they really don't ruin the experience for me. At least they keep up with you unlike in the last game where they provided no danger. It's really a shame this review got so subjective and stuck on the speedcard system and ignored the good bits that make the game very enjoyable

Burnout will never happen. The people who worked on Burnout left Criterion after EA demanded too much from them in exchange for too little which caused them to leave the studio back in 2012 and setup their own studio. Those people now have their own game called Danger Zone on Steam. It's Burnout in a way but only has a crash mode in it. No racing.

When I heard that this game had been announced, I was optimistic, especially considering that it had fixed a lot of the problems from NFS 2015. The first couple of trailers made me confident that it would be the racing game of the year. I really thought that this game would get universal acclaim, but apparently that seems to not be the case, which is a real shame. The game itself doesn't come out 'til tomorrow though, and we'll just have to see what everyone else thinks of it.

For those of you guys who played a good amount of this game... is there physical damage like scratches or dents from racing or are all the cars invisible to any damage. Hope I'm not missing anything

Can't find a review that explicitly says if this supports wheels or not. How can you avoid such an important info?

Yeah this game seems quite bad, i`ll stick to NFS MW(2005)

+Contended River That is true, but I can see where +Engel is coming from because the premium shipments give out more items than the base versions, but the base versions are more accessible to everybody.

Thanks for saving me. I'd get Horizon Zero Dawn's The Frozen Wilds instead.

This guy should do every video review.

There is no way this game could be worse than NFS 2015. It has improved upon many things yet this reviewer gave it a low score because of performance upgrades, how you have to actually use the car to earn customization parts, and how the story is too blockbuster-ish. Score should be much higher IMO.

They got literally everything spot on in this game IMO, other than the resetting when you try to jump off a mountain and the performance upgrade system - which, to be honest, unless you want to max out every car you own, is not bad. I would've preferred to have 2015's upgrade system, but I completed the whole game without any grinding or microtransactions, while playing on medium and sometimes hard. I only grind now to max out my cars.

i actually enjoyed this a LOT i tend to love games like these, grinding on beating racers and then beat the boss. Tthese kinds of games is the one i actually like, just a ton of work with a lot of fun too. I'd give this game 9/10, with 28 hours of story mode and easy to master gameplay, it's just fun.

This is not like grinding for fun but it's like you're being sentenced to grind. Nfs had made games before which didn't require you to grind this much and you still spend enough game hours to put a smile on your face. In This game its like playing 10 races repeatedly just to get enough money to upgrade your car and finish one small mission.

Idk why Luke's name card doesn't say resident racing game reviewer at this point

To be honest I’ve gotten bored of Asseto crosa {I’m not saying this game is better} and this game made me so exited when saw the customisation and finally making some thing yours unlike asseto Corsa you can only download mods or make them and who wants to spend days on marking a mod car I’m gonna give it a try I’ve been playing to much real sim games that is starting to bore me time to freshen up

i got this for $60 (nz dollars) brand new preowned ones are now 28 there werent any preownded ones when i got the game

But if you watched the NFS Movie: at the final chase scene, one of the cops says “they’re heading to Navarro bridge” and the antagonist’s name is Navarro

I actually love the upgrade system. Most people do, it guarantees that pretty much no two cars are the same. This guy also didn't mention that every vehicle feels unique, and the characters are so much better than 2015's. They fill roles, Ty is Street Racer, Mac is Off road racer, an Jess is offense. This game is a major step up from 2015, with the doubled car list, open world, and insane customization (on all cars this time.) NFS Payback deserves at least an 8/10 in my eyes.

This is actually ridiculous because personally, I feel like the game a huge success. The handling model is far more accessible than in 2015 and I actually like the speed card system. The car selection is fantastic and the addition of 5 classes to segregate the cars up genius. I actually feel sour that IGN could focus so much on the negatives when there’s such a fantastic game here.
