This is identical to me when I tried to cancel my membership... except I was kind of a dik. Turns out, there is an actual law, in favor of gyms, to where they can keep your membership active unless you A) move to a place that doesn't have a gym location, or B) you have a doctor's note saying you can't exercise. It gives the gyms the ability to keep billing the customer. And if you tell the banks to cut them off, the gym will send your no payment to collections. They're a bunch MF'ers. Don't get memberships at corporate gyms.
