Neck Strips and Draping w/ Exit the Barber
Фильм және анимация
"God is in the details," - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Embellishments, fancy scissor work and cool hats are fine and dandy but it is the fundamentals, perfected through years of repetition and refinement that distinguish Barbering as a craft. This ethos is embodied in our good friend, Exit the Barber. In this clip, he shows us his method for applying a neck strip and draping and undraping a client in his barber chair.
Special thanks to Gilly's Barbershop in Santa Ana, California for allowing us to film in the shop!

I'm not a barber by any means but my Mother asked me to cut her hair which felt like a huge compliment. So I researched what I needed just for basics. You are the MAN! Thanks for your tutorial!

Yes, of course! We will focus on that in our next video.
Solid work always....🤙🏽
My man, you did that like a Martial Artists. Thank you for the instruction.
That presentation was so professional. If I'm ever in Orange County, CA I know where I'm stopping to get cleaned up
Now this is class! Great job!
I just started some DAYS ago my studies at a barber school down here in Lima, Peru. Thanks a lot bro for the video. It was really helpful
Awesome video, Exit is a great teacher. Would love to see a video of him taking us through sanitation and his container set up!

hahaha I'm glad we can help. People laugh at how "extra" this video is, but seriously...there's never any harm in refreshing on the basics.
Thanks for the video
Good instructions 👍
Nice 👍 great video
Thnks alot uncle
That really seems the way it should be done. My problem is that my barber is my significant other. "she only knows one haircut". Also only one way to do it. But I love how you show how it should be done.
Wow this has helped me alot, as a guy at home trying to learn to cut my sons and my own hair, was always struggling with how to apply it. Would you be kind enough to share what you mix with the water in the spray bottles?
Orale ayy chingon thanks for the tips
A lot of value information in this 4 min video
Thank you!

Just wanted to see how you tie the neck strip in the back mine are sticky but it wont stick to itself
Where did you get that plastic container for the neck strips
Ive never had a barber do any of this 🤣
@BonaFidePomade

oh no! hahaha...in the USA neck strips are actually mandated by the governing body in your state that issues licenses for barbers. I think in other countries it's not and that's okay...but in the States, if you see a barber not using a neck strip, then they aren't doing their job right.
I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time 😂😂

Bona Fide Pomade what kind of neckstrips do You recommend
You say those count as blinks, but the eyelids don't connect. There is not one full blink.
A used drape should be tossed in the soiled bin after service. A clean drape should be used for each client per state board regulations. But who really does that 🤷🏻♂️
@lawrencejlittle

I think you mean a "used CAPE" not drape right? The item that covers the client is called a "CAPE"
